Vitali Klitschko vs Deontay Wilder

Post by 2128778 »

Today marks the 22nd anniversary of Vitali vs Sanders bout. That was a slugfest!

The reminder about this anniversary inspired a fantasy match - Vitali from Sanders fight vs Wilder from Fury 1 fight. Fight takes place at Staples Center, which was the home for both Vitali-Sanders and Wilder-Fury I bouts.

Who wins?

Vitali by brutal stoppage for me. I'd bet my house on it.

Vitali would stop Wilder in the late round after surviving Wilder's bombs with his iron chin and pummeling him with powerful jabs and right hands.

Vitali TKO 7 or 8

Might look similar to Vitali's fight with Corrie Sanders actually. With Vitali getting rocked, and having some scary moments on occasion, but coming through them to get the stoppage.

By the way, speaking about that Sanders bout... Yesterday, we had a dispute at one of Facebook boxing groups - was Vitali dropped by Sanders in the 1st round or not?

Was referee correct not to call it a knockdown?

What's your take?

Just to clarify - Vitali wasn't dropped or the ref wasn't correct? 🙂

Yeah, I was just rewatching that sequence yesterday. My only questioning is - did their lead feet tangled or not?

Vitali would have been much too steady, tough, and smart for Wilder. Add that Vitali's nearly as tall, just as heavy, and hit hard enough to hurt or KO Wilder, who never really took a big shot very well.

Certainly Wilder would be very competitive. There'd be constant suspense because of his ability to blow Vitali away with a sudden, monster KO shot. But I think Vitali would dodge the bullet; he's too adept defensively.

Klitschko, late rounds stoppage or UD.

Klitschko by mid to late round ko.

Too skilled and hit hard enough to put some dents in Wilder. Hi jab alone would just keep thudding into Wilder's face, over and over.
