Tyson Fury vs. Bob Fitzsimmons
Tyson Fury vs. Bob Fitzsimmons
15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Fury's size and power would overwhelm Fitzsimmons by pummeling him out in 7 rounds in this mismatchup. What do you guys think and who do you got?

One is a ferocious punching hall of famer, who always entered the ring in peak physical condition. The other is Tyson Fury.

A mismatch no longer.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Bob Fitzsimmons
I'd favor Fury to win by TKO around 6 or 7 one sided rounds.

In these matchups, a lot would depend on when the mythical fight takes place. If it's 1897, Fury isn't chock full of PEDs and that makes him a chinny fad lad with a questionable chin and poor stamina. Plus the fight would take place outdoors in bright sunlight, which Fury's never fought in before. I'd take Bob to win then and Fury to win now.

My heart says exactly this, but even in the early 1900's, with tiny horsehair gloves and a 45 round limit, I can't see a peak Fury losing to a 185lb'er (if that? I struggle to remember Fitz' heaviest)
I'd rate Fitzsimmons higher pound for pound.
I'd be very interested to see what Gilgamesh has to say about this though.

Fury without the PEDs isn't peak Fury.witherspoon wrote: ↑26 Apr 2026, 15:52keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑26 Apr 2026, 06:34 In these matchups, a lot would depend on when the mythical fight takes place. I think Keith has the best answer one could give to matchups that are this far apart in terms of era.witherspoon wrote: ↑26 Apr 2026, 15:52keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑26 Apr 2026, 06:34 In these matchups, a lot would depend on when the mythical fight takes place. Depending on which era you put the matchup in, you're playing a different man's game. If you put in the here and now, Fury's got it. If you put it in 1897 Fitz's chances are suddenly a whole lot more realistic.
Fury has a large enough size advantage that I don't think he's ever hopelessly outmatched here, but it's definitely going to be a tougher way to go about it in 1897.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Bob Fitzsimmons
My guess is that Fury would be way too big for Fitz. Much too big.
