Brandon Quarles, and I am providing this statement to formally document serious concerns regarding the handling of my bout against Alan Zavala.

I was permitted to compete without completing an official pre-fight medical examination. During the fight, the bout was stopped in Round 8 by the ringside physician without a direct medical evaluation being conducted at the time of stoppage.

The stated reason for the stoppage has been disputed. At the time the fight was halted, I was alert, responsive, and actively defending myself, with no clear indication that I was unable to continue.

I also have concerns regarding the weigh-in process. I was not present to witness the official weigh-in and dispute the accuracy of the recorded weight attributed to me. There are also questions regarding whether my opponent met the contracted weight requirements.

These issues have raised serious questions regarding the regulation and conduct of the event.

I have received written communication from the event promoter, Ernesto Neri, indicating that he has submitted an appeal regarding the bout and has expressed openness to the outcome being reviewed and potentially reclassified as a No Contest, pending the commission’s decision.

I am seeking to have this bout formally reviewed and reclassified as a No Contest due to the procedural irregularities involved.

This statement is being made to ensure that the circumstances surrounding this bout are properly documented and reviewed.

I am prepared to provide supporting materials, including video footage and written communications, to the appropriate authorities.”
