As much as I rate Benavidez (which is extremely high) I still had to question whether he really would go at Ramirez in such a fashion....well, he erased every single doubt in emphatic style

Those blistering combinations aren't just for show...they cause serious damage. And he switches up brilliantly with single punch bombs as well ! Truly the Master of disaster

Huge credit to Zurdo too. Although he got thrashed, he still tried damn hard to turn the tide in his favour. He probably could have found a safer place to try & fiddle through some rounds, but that wasn't in his make-up. He sensed the urgency needed and went for broke.

The American commentator nailed it when Benavidez let rip in the 4th round..."Mama mia" !!! Yep, my eyes nearly popped out too watching Benavidez crushing Zurdo

And he WAS the #1 Cruiserweight in the division. Benavidez has taken the play from him now, and the thing is I don't think a lot of fans will even be calling for Benavidez vs Jai. Jai has never really made a name for himself with anyone except super hardcore Boxing fans so nobody is really clamoring to see him in big fights.

Ramirez reports swelling to right eye but confirms he is recovering after sixth-round stoppage defeat

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez left the hospital after his sixth-round stoppage loss to David Benavidez, with no serious injuries reported. Swelling around his right eye led to the ringside stoppage.

The fight was halted in the sixth round after significant swelling developed around Ramirez’s right eye, prompting the ringside doctor to intervene. Despite the damage, no serious injuries were reported, and Ramirez was discharged Saturday afternoon in stable condition.

“I’m doing well after being discharged from the hospital this afternoon. The swelling, mainly of the right eye, is subsiding very well,” Ramirez said.

According to ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez, the swelling was the primary concern following the bout, with the stoppage coming as a precaution to prevent further damage.

Ramirez also pointed to a late exchange in which he believes an elbow contributed to the injury.

“Within that bad taste in the mouth, the elbow that David gave me in that final combination also remains,” he said.

The defeat marks a significant moment in Ramirez’s career, as it is the first time he has been stopped inside the distance. Previously known for his durability and volume, Ramirez struggled to contain Benavidez’s pressure and combination punching as the fight progressed.
