Longest Undefeated Streaks At The End Of A Career?

Post by Taansend »

I was just looking at Bruno Arcari's record & he lost in his 1st fight & his 12th fight & then went undefeated in 61 more bouts before retiring with a 70-2-1 record.

Carlos Monzon lost three times in his first 18 bouts then went 82 fights without losing.

Anyone else, who isn't undefeated, have more than 25 fights without losing at the end of their careers?

The question is longest undefeated run at the end of their career, not the start. As a side note re Chavez there is some doubt over his record as apparently he lost a fight early in his career and it was overturned after the event.

Yes but based on the wording, and the examples given the Undefeated streak could've come at any time during their career beginning, middle or end.

I'm aware of the DQ loss that was overturned for Chavez, but since it was overturned it wasn't a loss.

Eh the question clearly says at the end of the career, the examples given in first post is clear too, streaks at the end.

Yeah I missed where he had said that Arcari went on a 61 bout "unbeaten" streak not a 61 bout "winning" streak. I just knew the draw had to be in there somewhere.

Obvious one but Tunney had around 35 fights after losing to Greb and before retiring.

Of course. Tunney criminally underrated. The bloke was light years ahead of his time.

After suffering a few defeats to Fighting Harada, Eder Jofre retired from the sport for nearly 4 years before making a comeback, and going 25-0 in that comeback to end his career.

Vitali Klitschko
Lost to Lewis in 2003, won 3 more fights, took a 4 year break, came back and won 10 more fights.
His last loss was about a decade before he permanently hung up the gloves.

Nice one. 40+ fights.

When I first got together with my Missus I was showing her Thai/Lao parents a video of my favourite Thai boxer, Galaxy, & they knew him as a comedian on telly, not as a fighter.
