Umm yeah, probably not waiting on this announcement with any enthusiasm.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026

Probably Hysa…
Gassieve so they can promote aj vs fury as a “world title fight” wouldent be a bad strategy…. But that contracts signed so I don’t see why fury would care… unless there are viewership bonus structures.

Dave Allen volunteers to be opponent for Tyson Fury tune-up bout as he threatens to upset Filip Hrgovic in Doncaster
Dave Allen has offered his services as a potential opponent if Tyson Fury takes another tune-up bout ahead of his showdown with Anthony Joshua; Allen fights Filip Hrgovic this weekend, but won't take any inspiration from Fabio Wardley's "terrifying" heavyweight battle with Daniel Dubois
Dave Allen has volunteered himself to be the opponent for Tyson Fury’s tune-up bout ahead of the former champion’s showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year.
Fury is set to box his long-time rival Joshua late in 2026. But with Joshua taking a comeback fight in July, Fury could have a warm-up of his own in the summer.
No opponent has been decided for that tune-up, but Allen, the popular Doncaster heavyweight, has offered his services for that bout.
He hopes his contest on Saturday against Filip Hrgovic will put himself in the frame for that Fury fight.
"If I beat Hrgovic, Tyson Fury is getting called out," Allen told Sky Sports. "100 per cent.
"Even if I lose to Hrgovic but put a good fight up, I want the Fury fight."
Hrgovic though could well be yet another gruelling fight in Allen's career. In October the Doncaster man suffered a punishing 12-round loss to Arslanbek Makhmudov, whom Fury beat on his return to boxing last month.
"I'll do what I can but it's going to be hard work," Allen said of Hrgovic. "Another Olympic medallist, the fourth Olympic medallist I've faced in my career. I've boxed everybody.
"I'm buzzing for it, I'm excited for it, I'm not under no pressure. All the pressure's on Filip. I've just got to go out there, do my best, try my best and that's enough."
Allen also suspects that Hrgovic is looking past him to a potential fight with Moses Itauma.
Itauma is due to box next in August and if Hrgovic does come through his bout with Allen victorious and unscathed he could get that fight.
"He could be there. We'll make our decision next week who it's going to be," promoter allegedly told Sky Sports.
"[Against Allen] Filip Hrgovic is going into the other man's backyard and he's determined to show that he should be in this mix with a big, big fight. It's so alight, it's so electric, this heavyweight division. So many good fights to be made and they're all vying to get into contention for the big fights."
Allen maintains he can spring an upset. "I've sold the tickets just so he can come over here and bang me out in a few rounds and call Itauma out - I know the script. But I've trained hard and I really think I can give anyone a fight. I'll hopefully prove that Saturday," Allen said.
"I think Filip Hrgovic will get a real big surprise actually. I think he'll be surprised by my speed and my ability. Even though I'm not as tough as people think, I'm definitely a hell of lot better than people think."

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
Actually Dave would be a good opponent for Fury. I very much doubt Dave has a chance with Fury as my main concern is that I don't think Dave is big enough to handle TF.
Fury would pick him off quite easily imo.

They've sparred quite a lot as well. It will basically be a public spar
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
I have that same top
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
Dave Allen, please no (you wonder if there’d be a call for Hrgovic when he beats Allen.) Fury just beat a man who beat Allen. The bear wrestler was a solid choice in that he’s a man mountain who never stopped trying, which really gave Fury the exercise and the rounds.
Is there an opponent available who could function as a good tool sharpener? A technical challenge?
Fury did say something about his warmup fight possibly being against a world champion so: Gassiev (on good form blasting out Pulev for I believe a fraction of the WBA belt) or Okolie (he held the bridgerweight title not long ago).
But would Gassiev - a flat footed, deliberate type despite being a hardened pro - sleepwalk his way to defeat vs someone with Tyson’s long range boxing skills? Is there a location away from the UK that an Okolie fight could be staged following the PED issue? And can we be sure Okolie wouldn’t revert back to Henry Akinwande tactics?

Tyson Fury confirms date for next fight
Tyson Fury plans a “run-out” this August to prepare for “the big one” with Joshua
Tyson Fury has revealed that he will be back in the ring this August for a warm-up fight, live on DAZN, before taking on Anthony Joshua in the Autumn.
‘The Gypsy King’ told TalkSport, “So my fight plan this year with three fights. So it will be April, August, and whenever the big fight’s announced either in October, November.”
Fury defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov via unanimous decision in April, so he looked ahead to the next outing in August, “We haven’t got an opponent yet. But, again, it’s never about the opponent. It’s just me versus me, always.
“So, whoever the opponent is, if it’s Joe Bloggs or Mike Tyson, it’s all important to me. It’s just the run-out for me. Like, just to get sharper for the big one.”
Fury is not taking his next fight lightly, fully aware of the risks, “Listen, I might get knocked out my next fight in August. So then it’s all over. So I got to take one fight at a time and they’re all deadly serious fights.”
Promoter allegedly confirmed Fury’s imminent return to the squared circle, “He will fight, he wants to fight, he’s made that very clear. He doesn’t want to be back in the ring by November, which I think will be a gap of about seven or eight months.
“He wants to fight, he doesn’t want to be rusty again and he wants to get in there, but it won’t be Andy Ruiz.”
Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua makes his highly anticipated return to the ring on Saturday, July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, live on DAZN. The Olympic champion faces unheralded Albanian, Kristian Prenga. If AJ can get the win he needs then the long-awaited showdown with Fury will be next.
With Fury and Warren unwilling to risk the biggest fight in British boxing, it’s likely the opponent will be a recognisable name in order to sell the fight, but not a potential banana skin.
The likes of WBC #7 Efe Ajagba, IBF #12 Guido Vianello or IBF #13 Justus Huni could be sensible matches for the Morecombe man. Perhaps even WBC #8 Martin Bakole, who was KO’d by Fury’s close friend and training partner Joseph Parker in two rounds in 2025.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
Why does Fury need another run out, he just got a solid twelve rounds in. He's forever said Joshua is easy work, but now needs to go again. I can see this getting pushed to next year. Which would be about fitting for how much faffing around has gone on in making this fight.
Turki should be more firm on this, especially with the ridiculous amount of money involved.

Surely this is just a tool to promote Series 3 of his reality show.
Makmudov was really perfect for it.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
I'd be surprised if it's any of them. It should be someone of that calibre but will probably be a step below like Makhmudov or worse.
If you have a lucrative big money fight guaranteed coming up, you don't jeopardize that by fighting a dangerous opponent was a warmup. Even someone in the Top 15 is more dangerous than anything Fury should be considering.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - Summer 2026
Yes, but when are they likely to screen it? In the run up? The last fight was definitely linked to series 2.
A step up from makmudov surely = too risky and a step down surely = pointless (too easy).

Realistic opponents I'd like would be......
Justis Huni, Guido Vianello or Tony Yoka.

Any of those would be great. I figure Guido would be the safest option there.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑21 May 2026, 15:44 Realistic opponents I'd like would be......

I know if I'm Team Fury though. I'm going easier than that. Who's the least talented guy with the most similar physical dimensions as AJ? That's what I'd be looking at.

Pulev…. Nysa… labinot….
Smart play is gassiev so they can bill aj vs fury as a world title fight… he has looked pretty dam bad lately too, but a slightly dangerouse puncher for fury to be gambling pre aj…
