  • Ngannou only reportedly made $1.5m against Lins and Lins only making $500k. Even the main event paid less than $3m between them.
To be fair, those are, like you said, the "disclosed purses". Fighters like Adesanya used to say it's not what they actually get because they get some type of "backroom bonus".

In his last fight, he had a reported purse of 500k, while his opponent had 400k, and there is no way that's accurate (at least for Izzy..).
It's possible those numbers aren't the actual numbers (even though 1.5 million is already too much for fighting a random light heavyweight...).

But if I could grab 11 with MMA or 8 with boxing I probably would have chosen boxing as well.
Half what he did all his life was boxing, if not more.
I mean, the reporter in your video estimated 20 mio. for Rico (even though that's probaly a bit too high).

The proper purses for many UFC fights were disclosed in the class action they had over the past few years. None came over $10m.

It’s actually quite common in North Africa and parts of Middle East.

Other meaning are ‘blessed’ and ‘fortunate’..

Perhaps a fight with Joshua that didn't come off was a bigger offer? If that was the case, he didn't turn it down, Joshua had a crash and couldn't fight

No, he said it was a MMA fight against Francis Ngannou with Netflix involved, but he declined that one because of legacy in boxing or so he says. I do think he himself thinks he probably got higher odds of winning in boxing since he is already boxing for ages, just not on a big stage, he only did kickboxing at a big stage.
He was talking about fighting AJ even before AJ his Jake Paul fight if I remember it correct. I think he had the feeling they were close to a future deal, but then the car crash happened and he essentially did his preperation for nothing. Then from what I understood it was Peter Fury who said, why not fight Usyk then instead? Then he asked and told about it around including to Jason Statham and Jason did a chat for him eventually leading to all this.
It is funny somehow how Usyk is taking care of AJ in the last few months.
AJ essentially had it all and then lost it all in one unexpected moment. I do feel sorry for AJ and I do appriciate it from Usyk that he takes care of AJ at this moment in his life.

Fun night that can be run back. I think most online didn’t see the fight just saw clip of the stoppage. They need to see Rico being dropped hard, spitting his mouthpiece and getting at least a 20sec break by the ref. Usyk can be seen getting upset that he isn’t be allowed to stop him. Then they are order back Usyk wobbles him and quick stoppage takes place. Rico in my opinion would have been stopped quickly in the 11th if not for the long break or in the 12th. And if he survives he loses on points. Great credit to Rico. Tough guy and he has a place in boxing. Usyk shouldn’t be that heavy but who knows what all he goes through.

Rico should have gotten a 12th round. I don't think there's any denying that. The ref literally waited until the bell rang to end the round before jumping in to stop the fight. I don't think it's a given that Usyk stops him in the 12th, either. But watching him try it would have made for the best round of the fight!
Usyk also should have *needed* to get the knockout, too. Those cards were way generous to him. He was losing most rounds just by not accomplishing enough to make up for getting outworked so bad.

Yeah, it was likely the first bout of Usyk on a higher level, which he didn't took seriously. Anyway, he hasn't scored that stoppage, it was premature and after the bell, damn it.

Probaly would've won on the judges scorecards or even in the 12th anyway, but if that's not s sign to retire..
