Amin was reputed -as per his own press releases- to have been heavyweight champion of the Ugandan Armed Forces when he was an enlisted man, before becoming an overweight dictator..

I wonder if the new movie on this guy will shed any light on this aspect of his dubious history.

Idi Amin would put a man in shackles and threaten to have him beaten to death with a sledge hammer. He would then tell him he could be spared such a fate if he would beat a fellow prisoner to death with the sledge hammer. After he would comply he was put back into shackles and a new prisoner was brought in to repeat the process on the guy who was told he would be spared. Amin would spend hours a day with this practice for his own entertainment.

Amin isn't a nice guy. I have a book that lists the most evilest world leaders and he made the cut. I dunno how Rasputin made it there he was just a creepy guy more than a evil guy.

My Mother once sat a few rows in front of him at a football match, this was before he came to power.

He was a big boxing fan, had Ali round for dinner once ( as a companion, not on the menu ).

He used to transport the Ugandan amateur boxing team around to tournaments in his personal helicopter. Fighters like John Mugabi and Cornelius Boza Edwards.

  • Let the PLO use the Israeli Embassy in Kampala as a headquarters.
  • Insisted on being called by his full name: "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."
  • Challenged Muhammad Ali to a boxing match, and proclaimed himself World Heavyweight Champion when Ali didn't respond.
  • Proclaimed himself "King of Scotland" in 1977.
  • Used his mansion as a torture/interrogation center.
  • Sometimes ate his victims, reportedly.
  • Decapitated his enemies, sat their heads at the dinner table, and talked to them.
  • Almost completely illiterate.
  • Got shitloads of money from Western goverments.
  • Never spent a day in prison.
  • Had some 50 children.
  • Died of old age.
So what your sayin here is that he was just Joe Six Pack with a crown.

Rasputin on a list of the most evil people ? That's ridiculous. At the very worst he was a womanizer. Alot of Russians were creeped out by him though, and it created this very dark image. He easily makes my top 20 most interesting people in history list.

Don't forget he was given asylum in Saudi Arabia while he was overthrown in Uganda and lived a comfortable life off the generous monthly stipends the Saudi Royal Family gave him.

I mean the Russian government wasn't really scared of him, they were more annoyed. Creepy one thing.... but evil? no

Also the REAL reason that Idi kicked all the Asians out of Uganda in 1972(?) was because a very rich and influencial Asian lady had refused to marry him.
