Bert Cooper v Mike Tyson
Bert Cooper v Mike Tyson
Cooper beat Willie DeWitt in 1987, well he smashed him up really in 2 rounds. There was talk that the winner was a possible next opponent for Tyson.
Cooper had lots of issues before his next opponent which was Carl Williams, it was more or less a forgone conclusion that Cooper was going to go through Williams, who had a suspect chin. Cooper retired in the 8th round, Williams using his height and reach advantage to keep Cooper away.
The Tyson fight never happened and this could have been a decent match up, both similar styles, but Cooper had a cast iron chin, possibly one of the best chins really.
So Tyson v Cooper 1988-89 time, who wins?

Tyson, very early.
Re: Bert Cooper v Mike Tyson
Yeah, Tyson in 2.
Re: Bert Cooper v Mike Tyson
Iron Mike would blast Smokin' Bert out in either 1 or 2 rounds because "Iron" Mike Tyson is a class above.

The class above thing is way over used but fits perfect on this one.
Tyson was so many classes above Cooper.
Quick fight I think ko in 1 but could last 2 or 3 rounds but I doubt it.
Cooper is getting destroyed

I can see Cooper staying on his stool like he did against Foreman.

Asked Elmer who always say certain legends are the class above the others, but thanks for that.tiny_acres wrote: ↑24 May 2026, 23:21The class above thing is way over used but fits perfect on this one.

That's who normally over uses the term. No disrespect aimed at youscorpio83 wrote: ↑25 May 2026, 16:40Asked Elmer who always say certain legends are the class above the others, but thanks for that.tiny_acres wrote: ↑24 May 2026, 23:21The class above thing is way over used but fits perfect on this one.

Thanks I appreciate it and Elmer would say either this legend is a class above or different class. Thanks anyway, but don't annoy by his term
Re: Bert Cooper v Mike Tyson
Iron Mike by stoppage, probably within three rounds. Coop could take a punch though, so possibly he'd be out on his feet, and not on the deck, at the moment of stoppage.
