Question: How are the rankings affected after this weekends results.
We are voting on: Usyk, Rico, Sanchez and Torres.
Yh I believe he was voted in.
He could sit in there for 12 months while he's off doing other sports.Ruthless-RKO wrote: โ24 May 2026, 09:26Yh I believe he was voted in.
At the time Fury was #1..
Ngannou went in and then back out after he lost to Joshua I think.
Personally I wouldnโt have voted Ngannou in.
But Iโm including Rico in here outta respect.
Fact is. We donโt know if Rico is even gonna have another fight.
The only fights in the top 50 that Boxrec have in the works are Joshua Vs Prenga, Hovhannisyan Vs Mau'u and Ibeh Vs Stone.Ruthless-RKO wrote: โ24 May 2026, 09:06 Just realised. No one is scheduled to fight.
We have AJ.
Tbf, I believe most of them have fought in the last 6 months or so.
Verhoeven has not won a boxing match in 12 yearsconan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 12:35 Can't believe the disrespect that Rico is getting. He gave Usyk the hardest fight that he's ever had and people refuse to rank him above never-will-be-more-than-a-gateway and I've-farking-never-fought-anyone-with-a-pulse fighter like Torrez Jr. What da fukkk.
Usyk stays at 1
Sanchez goes to 9 (above Huni)
Rico debuts at 10 (behind Sanchez and ahead of Huni)
Torrez Jr falls out of top 15
Like I said. Boxing fans are always so pessimistic, rather than seeing it as Good Rico, they see it as Bad Usyk. It was a good fight, and a brave effort from both.conan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 12:35 Can't believe the disrespect that Rico is getting. This is exactly Yh some people then complain. Hems just beaten someone we had in our top 15:Cyclops wrote: โ24 May 2026, 13:20 Usyk still number 1
Rico to 10
Sanchez remains at 11
Torres to 15
It's difficult to know where to put Sanchez based on that win, and I almost could stick him in at 6 because he holds that old win over Ajagba. But I don't think Ajagba's all that either to be honest, has sold himself off into irrelevance with his Zuffa contract, and probably shouldn't be our number 6 guy either. I don't really want Sanchez in my own personal top 10, especially as I never rated Torres anyway.
I don't think it was a fluke, I think he knocked out an overrated guy that he was already better than. Number 11 is fine. Let people complain. We're not all here to just agree with each other all the time are we?Ruthless-RKO wrote: โ24 May 2026, 13:23This is exactly Yh some people then complain. Why not move him up? Doesnโt seem fair.
Whether it was fluke or not. Win is a win.
We should keep these rankings active and moving after fights. Keeps Things fresh.
Poor argument dude. If the fight went to the cards and it was a SD for Usyk, where would you put him? Are you going to go "oh he didn't win, so not going to put him in the top 15"? Does only winning count for you? He showed he belongs in the top 10. Absolutely no doubt. He did better against Usyk than Fury and Joshua did, both of whom were former #1s on this list. That's how you should be thinking about it.joshj909 wrote: โ24 May 2026, 12:48Verhoeven has not won a boxing match in 12 yearsconan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 12:35 Can't believe the disrespect that Rico is getting. Exactly Gil. It was a stellar performance. Imagine at what level this guy is going to be fighting in 3 or 4 fight's time. He's old, but he might be the heir apparent to Usyk.gilgamesh wrote: โ24 May 2026, 12:58Like I said. Rico deserves a lot of credit for giving Usyk his toughest fight to date, and I personally give him the credit he deserves.
Usyk also deserves a lot of credit for having the stamina and the poise to pull the fight out of the fire when it was beginning to slip away from him.
He's in his mid 30's, and has taken a lot of damage to his legs over the years with the leg kicks and so forth so I don't look for him to have all that many years left in him as a World Class fighter, but he's still got another handful of fights in him I think, and undoubtedly did give a World Class effort against Usyk.conan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 14:18Exactly Gil. In terms of rating guys positively, winning quite clearly matters most. Then draws. Then performances in losses. Right now he has absolutely no relevant wins. Loads of guys can win rounds against better guys because styles make fights but if they can't see it out they weren't good enough. Rico has not proven that he can beat any of the top 15. If he thinks that he is good enough to beat one of them he should schedule a fight with one and try to win, he'd get into my top 10 any doing that.conan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 14:15Poor argument dude. These rankings are not the boxrec rankings where only winning counts. These rankings are about nuances that humans can see. If you can't see this accomplishment in only his second boxing fight is absolutely astounding and worthy of a ranking, then really I'm speechless.
So in other words "only results count and not performance". If so, why waste your time rating heavyweights, just let the boxrec algorithm do it for you. If you can't see that being ahead on the cards against a top 3 p4p fighter on your first serious attempt means that you are a class above the bottom third of people in the ladder, some who have fought no-one at all, then lordy, you need to widen your horizons dude.joshj909 wrote: โ24 May 2026, 14:39In terms of eating guys positively, winning quite clearly matters most. Wasn't ahead on the cards to start with. Also. The boxrec algorithm is flawed, which is why these rankings were started. Did you have Ngannou top 5 in the heavyweight division when he faced Fury and before he was flattened by Joshua?conan_the_cribber wrote: โ24 May 2026, 14:44So in other words "only results count and not performance". YES Ngannou was a Top 10 Heavyweight after his effort against Fury. Giving the Heavyweight Champion a harder fight than any of his other challengers has given him has to mean you're a World Class fighter doesn't it? At least for the moment.joshj909 wrote: โ24 May 2026, 14:46Wasn't ahead on the cards to start with. Also. The boxrec algorithm is flawed, which is why these rankings were started.
