i dont think he was hurt there, what i do think though is that gettin smacked and going off balance made him realize he was getting a bit wild and complacent and sloppy opening up like he was, so it helped him reel it back in

I can certainly see why someone would highlight Moses getting clipped there. But I’m also inclined to think it didn’t hurt him.

Moses Itauma to face top 10 heavyweight in Manchester

It is shaping up to be a pivotal week for Queensberry's allegedly and his heavyweight stable.

Not only will the next opponent for former champion Tyson Fury be confirmed, Warren is also hoping to clarify the next steps for 21-year-old hotshot, Moses Itauma.

Itauma, 14-0 (12 KOs), is widely regarded as the future division leader. The southpaw, in March, thrashed Jermaine Franklin in five rounds and a July 25 date at London's O2 Arena was then pencilled in for his next fight. But with Anthony Joshua subsequently annoucing he'd be fighting in Saudi Arabia on that day, it has since been reported that Itauma will instead do battle on August 8. It is now believed that the contest will occur in Manchester.

Filip Hrgovic, who bludgeoned Dave Allen in three rounds on May 16, is understood to be Itauma's opponent of choice.

"Moses is fighting up in Manchester, we're going to announce it," Warren told Sky Sports.

"He's fighting a top 10 heavyweight, we expect to get the fight we want to make over the line.

"Again, a great heavyweight fight. This division is on fire."

It will be Hrgovic unless Kabayel is going to face Hrgovic instead.

Why Manchester? Itauma's not a Londoner but his fan base is firmly in the South East. Maybe I'm being selfish but as someone from a town only a couple of towns over from his, why not stick him in the 02 where most people who follow him can just get the tube and the last train to get home from? I had to do the full travelling and air BnB thing for Fabio vs Dubois, which was two Southerners as well. I personally can't keep on shelling out for stuff like that.

The Co-op is a nice venue, but it isn't the place to regularly hold fights for Southern fighters. Maybe I'd have gone to the o2, as originally announced. It's tougher to get a group of soft shandy drinking Southern lads together for another trip to Manchester, which isn't half as fun a city as it thinks it is. The Co-ops probably a much cheaper venue for the likes of Frank, but with so many PPVs for shite events already, and London venues being used for even the crappiest big fights already this year (Fury vs Makhmudov for instance, which probably would've done better as a live gate in the North) you'd think the promoters would realise they're pushing the fans a bit too far financially now.

Moses deserves a 'homecoming' of sorts.

I am not going to say Moses has been promoted poorly… because he is considered top 5 pretty universally and has never beat a top 50… so he has been promoted brilliantly.

But he hasn’t been active enough, and I think they have missed so a few chances to build his live audience profile…

Moses vs Whyte should have been O2… that’s a rare oppertunity to headline a big show in London at a low level (cause Whyte was a big name that was washed)… I get the Saudi money, but why not use Saudi for events without England fan favorites..

He hasn’t fought London or surrounds at a levle above wach on an undercard… that feels crazy.

Still can't help but think Franks still a bit worried about his boy moses think the best thing that could happen for Frank is Usyk retires and the belts all split Frank ending up with 3 world champs in his stable all fighting lesser opponents . Don;t really believe for one minuite Frank is interested in any thing but generational wealth for Frank

Tough Filip Hrgovic next to test Moses Itauma

Big Croat Filip Hrovic remains the frontrunner to faces Moses Itauma in August.

Hrgovic battered Dave Allen in Doncaster, stopping the Englishman in three rounds, on May 16 and it was believed that outcome would rubberstamp Hrgovic as the man most likely to face the touted southpaw Itauma next.

Hrgovic, 33, improved to 20-1 (15 KOs) with the win, with the lone loss coming to Daniel Dubois in eight rounds in 2024.

Itauma is now 14-0 (12 KOs). Born in Slovakia and fighting out of Chatham, Kent, the gifted left hander swept through veteran Jermaine Franklin in March, halting the American in five rounds.

A source told Boxing Scene that Itauma and Hrgovic will likely meet on August 8 at London’s O2 Arena.

Hrgovic, who like Itauma is promoted by Queensberry, is a marked step up again for Itauma, who has been pegged as the future of the division.

August is too soon for Hrgovic after his gruelling victory over Allen.

Am I the only one who thinks this is too much too soon for Itauma? It feels a bit like David Price going into the Thompson fight.

Might be too much too soon, but then again any step up might be when you're a barely active prospect. Hrgovic definitely isn't a gimme though, and they better be preparing Itauma for a World Level opponent because if Hrgovic isn't that he's surely not far off from it, and this will mean everything to him as well. This fight feels like it makes or breaks his career (Hrgovic's that is).

Bad fight for Itauma his stamina will be his downfall. Blows out his butt after a few rounds.
