Luis Nery vs. John Riel Casimero - June 6, 2026

Luis Nery-John Riel Casimero, David Jimenez-Ayumu Sano set for April

The headline bouts for two of the three consecutive nights of boxing in Kyrgyzstan in April have been announced.

The set of shows will take place from April 17-19 at the Gazprom Sports Complex in the country’s capital of Bishkek, according to promoter 3150Fight, which is run by Koki Kameda, a retired former titleholder from Japan.

On April 18, Luis Nery and John Riel Casimero will face each other. On April 19, David Jimenez will defend his secondary junior bantamweight belt against Ayumu Sano.

The main event for April 17 has not yet been announced.

Nery, 37-2 (28 KOs), is a former two-division titleholder who reigned at bantamweight and junior featherweight. The 31-year-old from Tijuana, Mexico, has fought twice since his May 2024 loss to undisputed 122lbs champion Naoya Inoue. That bout saw Nery drop Inoue in the first round, get floored himself in the second and ultimately succumb to the stoppage in the sixth.

Both of Nery’s wins came in 2025: a seventh-round TKO of the 15-3-2 Kyonosuke Kameda and a wide technical decision over the 17-2 Sathaporn Saart. Those victories took place within the featherweight limit. Nery is ranked No. 5 at 126lbs by both the WBA and WBC, and 10th by the IBF. The WBO has Nery slotted No. 4 at 122lbs. This fight with Casimero will take place at junior featherweight.

Casimero, 35-5-1 (24 KOs), held world titles at 108, 112 and 118lbs. The 37-year-old from the Philippines then competed at junior featherweight until October 2024, when he came in overweight and made short work of the 21-3 Saul Sanchez.

That infraction on the scale led to Casimero being suspended for a year. When he returned last October, he suffered a surprising decision loss to the aforementioned Kyonosuke Kameda in a bout in which both men weighed in at 127.5lbs. Casimero rebounded in December, knocking out the 11-5-2 Tom Mizokoshi in the fifth round of a featherweight fight. If Casimero can still make junior featherweight, it will be the first time doing so since late 2023. Casimero is not presently ranked by any of the sanctioning bodies.

Jimenez, 18-1 (12 KOs), has been the WBA’s interim junior bantamweight titleholder for nearly two years now. The 33-year-old from Costa Rica picked up the belt with a unanimous decision over John “Scrappy” Ramirez in April 2024 and has since defended it by outpointing the 32-6-1 Keyvin Lara in March 2025 and knocking out the 15-5 Kenbun Torres in the 11th round last July.

The primary WBA belt at 115lbs belongs to Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, who also has the WBC and WBO titles and is the lineal and Ring Magazine champion.

Sano, 11-0-1 (5 KOs), is a 23-year-old from Japan who is ranked 11th at junior bantamweight by the WBA. He is coming off a wide decision victory over the 11-0 Reymart Tagacanao in October.

Luis Nery To Face John Riel Casimero On April 18 In Kyrgyzstan

Former multiple-weight titleholders Luis Nery and John Riel Casimero will square off in a junior featherweight fight on April 18 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Saikou x Lush Boxing is promoting the show as part of a three-day boxing showcase. The company announced the bout will take place at the Gazprom Sports Complex.

Nery (37-2, 28 KOs) will fight in Kyrgyzstan for the second time in a row. The former bantamweight and junior featherweight titleholder scored an eighth-round technical decision against Sathaporn Saart in October.

That win marked the second straight victory for the 31-year-old southpaw from Mexico since Naoya Inoue stopped him in the sixth round in May 2024. Nery previously stopped Kyonosuke Kameda in the seventh round in February 2025.

Casimero (35-5-1, 24 KOs) is a former junior flyweight, flyweight and bantamweight champ who has fought to mixed results over the last three years (2-1-1). Casimero last fought in December, when he stopped Tom Mizokoshi in the fifth round in Japan.

In October, during the same card on which Nery beat Saart, the 37-year-old Filipino suffered a 10-round, unanimous-decision defeat to Kameda.

Luis Nery-John Riel Casimero, David Jimenez-Ayumu Sano postponed

Three consecutive nights of fights in Kyrgyzstan that were scheduled for mid-April have been postponed, the promoter announced today.

“We have decided to postpone the event after taking into comprehensive consideration the rapid changes in the current international situation and the various impacts that come with them,” a press release on 3150Fight’s website said, via Google Translate. The company is run by Koki Kameda, a retired former titleholder from Japan.

The boxing events were supposed to take place from April 17-19.

The headliner on April 17 would have been a featherweight bout between Adrian Maximiliano Robledo, 12-1 (6 KOs), and Kyonosuke Kameda, 16-5-2 (9 KOs), who is Koki’s cousin.

On April 18, Luis Nery, 37-2 (28 KOs), and John Riel Casimero, 35-5-1 (24 KOs), would have faced each other.

On April 19, David Jimenez, 18-1 (12 KOs), would have defended his secondary WBA junior bantamweight belt against Ayumu Sano, 11-0-1 (5 KOs).

“Details regarding the rescheduled dates and matchups will be announced on the official website and in a press release as soon as coordination with all relevant parties is complete, while carefully monitoring the evolving international situation,” the press release said.

Luis Nery vs John Riel Casimero postponed

“International instability” has torpedoed 3150Fight’s three-day Saikou x LUSH event scheduled for later this month

3150Fight has postponed its upcoming three-day fight series in Kyrgyzstan , citing “international instability” that led to logistical and travel issues. As best as I can tell through translation, the press release does not specify the instability, but the odds are pretty much 100% that it’s referring to the United States’ and Israel’s ongoing war with Iran.

The event was notably set to feature Luis Nery vs John Riel Casimero, plus the latest from David Jimenez and Kyonosuke Kameda. Willibaldo Garcia vs Andrew Moloney was previously on the table, but recently got pushed back to this coming June.

This won’t be the last event impacted by the war, which has produced widespread damage to civilian infrastructure, fuel shortages, and significant travel complications throughout the Middle East and Asia. As the press release points out, it can and will continue to impact fighters’ ability to train in safety and the procurement of supplies necessary for staging shows.

Hopefully, boxing’s authorities will be more charitable towards the afflicted competitors than the WBC was towards Carlos Canizales.

Was supposed to happen but can't find the results. For some reason there are a few videos on youtube titled "Casimero Nery full fight" or something like that but they're uploaded about a month ago and contain something completely different :maybe:

Luis Nery vs John Riel Casimero rescheduled for June 6th in Japan

Three weeks after postponing the bout due to “international instability,” 3150Fight announced that Luis Nery vs John Riel Casimero will join their June 6th SAIKOU x Lush show in Aichi, Japan.

The show currently features two IBF title fights, which see Willibaldo Garcia and Masamichi Yabuki defend their respective belts against Andre Moloney and Rene Calixto.

Nery (37-2, 28 KO) was famously banned from competing in Japan following his two victories over Shinsuke Yamanaka, which saw him fail a drug test following their first meeting before blowing weight in their second. The Japanese Boxing Commission ultimately allowed Nery to return six years later to meet Naoya Inoue, who got off the canvas to brutally stop “Pantera” in 2024.

He’s since stopped Kyonosuke Kameda and taken a wide technical decision over Sathaporn Saart.

Casimero (35-5-1, 24 KO) has fought three of his last four on Japanese soil, including a knockout over Tom Mizokoshi in Aichi last December. Despite a bevy of controversy in and outside of the ring, the 37-year-old has lost just once in the last nine years, an uninspiring UD against the aforementioned Kameda the prior October.

Pretty damn stacked card, honestly, especially for being free on YouTube.

Should be a solid bout. Both of these guys are pretty deep into their careers for men of their size, but they've both accomplished a lot. I see that it's on YouTube. What times are we looking at on this Ruthie?

He'll always be their boogyman but they have a lot of class there so he'll always be welcome.

I know this because I occasionally watch Japanese porn.
