By this argument he might as well fight Mike Tyson.
If you don't get what I'm saying then you don't get it. Some people get it.
You're missing the possibility that I do get it, I just don't agree with it.
Look I understand your issue with it. Agit is the clear #1 contender, but to the general public I think Wilder is certainly still the bigger name. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not telling you that Usyk vs Wilder is the better fight. I'm just saying reasons why it's probably the more likely fight to be made.

If it's the most likely fight to be made it has nothing to do with Wilder being "the most historically significant name", or Usyk wanting that name on his record, and everything to do with money. Kabayel doesn't carry a lot of money. He could knock out every other contender in one round, and Usyk, and he still wouldn't.

Nobody's going to fight him unless they have to. It doesn't pay. Usyk certainly isn't at this stage of his career. To be honest I think Usyk now would fight Tyson, or Jake Paul, if that's where the money was. He's cashing out. And good luck to him.

It has a lot to do with Wilder being the most historically significant name, and even more to do with him being one of the most marketable opponents for Usyk.

Are you some sort of masochist? Do you actually like boxing?

Usyk's had his pisstake Mickey Mouse fight that we all begrudgingly let him off the hook for. I didn't care about that, didn't pay for it, didn't watch it. I'm certainly not paying to watch him fight Wilder, now. It's out of order to hold the belts hostage and deny chances for the younger fighters, and expect fans to shell out for circus fight crap.

This year stinks for boxing so far. The worst I can remember for a while.

The Verhoeven fight was probably the best Heavyweight bout he's been in thus far actually. Best since the 1st Fury bout anyway.

On paper it maybe didn't look that way to most. In the ring it did turn out that way.

Usyk is on tour
There's almost no one to fight in the division that most would see comptetitive on paper.

Kabayel is definitely a competitive fight you'd think

Youth and freshness primarily. Nothing exactly spectacular I've seen from him skill wise, but he's big and strong and hasn't take a lot of punishment to this point in his career.

I can't imagine he'd outbox Usyk. He'd have to beat him with pressure and a steady attack to the body I think.

I wouldn't pay to see it, but I don't begrudge Usyk making a bit of money off fights like that now, if other people ARE prepared to pay to watch it.

He's been fighting decent opponents while watching others make millions out of circus fights all his career. Now he's probably just coming over the hill, why shouldn't he have some of that?

In terms of the belts, I don't know why any one gives a shit about them anyway. They are just bestowed by self-appointed corrupt organisations in the first place.

I used to think like that but somebody, I can't remember who, made the point that the organisations and the various straps help the fighters. Even the WBO Intercontinental type baubles (not sure if that one is a thing but I suspect it is) lend a fighter some sort of legitimacy and some currency when trying to work their way up to fighting at championship level.

Sometimes the mandatories are shite and meaningless, but sometimes it's the only way fighters get a chance at all. Would Usyk have gotten his shot at AJ if he wasn't his mandatory? Sometimes fighters ignore their mandatory and we as fans rightly give them grief for it. The ignored fighter gets more respect from the fans as the 'avoided guy' and then people tune in. They serve a purpose.

The other stuff I've already had my say on.

Oleksandr Uysk should in my opinion rematch, Rico Verhoeven next 'Rico Verhoeven fought very well, but I believe his performance by many is being completely overrated'.

Note: Oleksandr Uysk may have not been in his best condition, or tactically he may have made a mistake gaining to much mass 'in order to attempt to wade through Verhoeven during the fight'.

But nevertheless, Oleksandr Uysk was never hurt by Rico Verhoeven 'and when he decided to eventually put the hammer down in the latter part of the fight it was over'.

To conclude: Overall it was the referee, who ruined the fight, and both denied the opportunity for Rico Verhoeven to carry on fighting 'and he also denied Oleksandr Uysk from scoring a potential knockout win in the 12th round'.

I personally think it is highly unlikely that Rico Verhoeven would have survived the 12th round 'he was more fatigued than Oleksandr Uysk, and was damaged at this point in the fight' etc.
