Dave Allen.
Re: Dave Allen.
Two boxers .. One a very fast .very talented fella but with a chin that was susceptable . But he was always in shape ,always gave 150% and fought the best around he reaped the benefits of hard work ,determination and plain guts , he,s now an ex world champ and very rich
Boxer 2 . Guts , good chin , very pleasnt personality ,ability to adhere himself to the public .BUT rarely in shape ,carrys lack of condition has a badge of honor . Used his lack of condition and shape over the years has an excuse, but gave some good domestic fights and happy with his lot . Probably made a quid or two . But also put his future health at risk by using his toughness has a way to progress instead of buckling down and giving 100 % , personaly i think his lack of mental confidence has been the reason he s never gave it 150%
If he had gave it his full commitment like boxer 1 would he off been world champ . Highly doubt it . But i am sure if he gave 150% like Amir did he would of reached greater heights than he did
Still has long has he,s happy with his lot good on him but he should quit now while he,s got a few marbles left because at the moment he s selling his health for a bit of fame and maybee another property in Doncaster

Re: Dave Allen.
Boxing is so much a mental and emotional sport.
I agree that Allen lacks confidence, and that is also why he is never fully in shape, as almost as a kind of a safety net he does use it as justification.
Also why it is easier to take harder fights, less pressure on you, and you get the credit for gritting your teeth.

Dave said he is fighting in October in an interview yesterday, no idea who it is. He was very honest saying he would not go anywhere neat Kabayel. He was heavily involved in the commentary this weekend and I thought he came across with real insight, I enjoyed listening to it. How did others find it if they listened/saw it?

What's all this bad stuff about Dave Allen? It all seems cloak and dagger to me?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 May 2026, 14:22Will all become apparentmickey1975 wrote: ↑28 May 2026, 05:02What happened, mate?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 13:32

Re: Dave Allen.
I wish other fighters were as active as Dave honestly. Doesn't fight especially well but he understands you can't do this sh*t forever so if you're gonna get it, get it.
Wish the better fighters took that kinda attitude.

Re: Dave Allen.
Heavyweight Dave Allen offered a 'big fight on a huge card' by Eddie Hearn
Dave Allen has been offered another "big fight", the heavyweight claimed today.
The popular heavyweight from Doncaster, England, was defeated by Filip Hrgovic last month at the home of his local soccer team Doncaster Rovers. The fight was a mismatch, with Allen being stopped inside three rounds.
Allen has fought Olympic medalists Hrgovic, Tony Yoka and Frazer Clarke, as well as world ranked contenders Dillian Whyte and Arslanbek Makhmudov, losing each time. Allen’s biggest win is either his fifth round stoppage of Johnny Fisher in 2025 or his third round finish of Lucas Browne in 2019.
Thankfully, Allen has been paid well of late, with his promoter Eddie Hearn claiming Allen has earned “well over £1m” in the last year for his contests with Fisher, Makhmudov and Hrgovic.
However, Allen continues to fight.
The 34-year-old revealed he would return against a “journeyman-like opponent” in a bout on June 20 in Rotherham, England. He also announced this week that he will fight again on July 25 at the Doncaster Dome. Should he win those two bouts, Allen will secure another big fight.
“I’ll do a six-rounder in July and Eddie [Hearn] has offered me a fight today on a massive card,” Allen told his Instagram followers. “Big fight as well, not as big as the Hrgovic one, but a big fight on a huge card. I’m going to go away and give it some thought, but yeah, I’ve got to win June and July first.
“It’s not a massive fight, but it’s a big fight on one of the biggest cards of the year. I said give me a bit of time. Probably box on June 20 and if I box well then I’ll probably do it.”
Allen, 25-9-2 (20 KOs), was then asked by one of his followers if he fancied competing 14 more times to hit the milestone of 50 professional contests.
“Depends what day it is, not even what day, depends what time of day it is,” Allen responded. “Some days I think I’m going to fight on forever, then some days I think I can’t be arsed with it. It’s not the sport, I do love boxing, I do enjoy doing it. It's getting harder for me, I’m getting older, I’ve been at it a long time.”
However, even if offered a ludicrous amount of money, Allen sees the new craze of bare-knuckle boxing as a step too far.
“No I wouldn’t do it,” he replied. “I think it would get in the way of training and managing [my fighters]. I get a lot of enjoyment out of that. I’m at a point in my life now where I'm not massively wealthy but I’m comfortable. So I’m quite happy at that point, I don’t want to be massively rich. So being happy and doing what I enjoy is more important, so I wouldn’t do it.”

baffling
Re: Dave Allen.
Massive card? What show will that be?
Re: Dave Allen.
The English title is vacant at the moment, perhaps Allen can go for that after these two fights against journeymen. I wonder if the money and interest is there for a 3rd Allen/Fisher fight, could have the English belt at stake...

Re: Dave Allen.
I think he will fight Dan Garber for the English
Re: Dave Allen.
I'm assuming that main fight won't happen. It's a good fight but doesn't make sense for a two reasons. Hunk isn't ranked well by any org to get Itauma into a mandatory position and Hrgovic has that contractually obliged fight against either Kabayel or Itauma. They might be waiting to see if Usyk chooses Kabayel or Wilder first before announcing.
