Edwin Viruet vs Robin Blake

Post by robbydecker »

At 135 lbs.

12 Rounder.

Neutral location.

My prediction would be a relatively close decision win for Viruet.

Some may say, no, he'd win every round versus Blake, but imo, it's a very styles based clash, and with Robin being such a tall
Lightweight, at 5'11, along with more than decent power and speed, this bout would be a challenging bout, even for the very Wiley and slick Viruet, who simply lacks the punching power to really utterly dominate Robin.
I can see it likely being a 6-4-2 or maybe even as close as a 6-5-1 in rounds narrow hard fought decision win for Viruet.

I seem to remember thinking Viruet's punch output was too low for my liking. I'm not saying Blake wins cause this is a very tough and good matchmaking choice.

Blake’s career was two stages really.
Before losing to Cawley , the guy was on a real roll.
That guy beats Viruet comfortably. Wide decision.
The Blake of the post Cawley fight looked shot.
He even appeared different. Burnt out or something.
Maybe too many tough fights would be my guess.
That guy gets beat by Viruet.
