Good call by the corner, Rozicki's disregard for defense was getting more evident every round, that bit in the 6th when the just let Billam-Smith leather him with about 10 unanswered punches, hands down chin up, insanity, he came out ferocious Rozicki like a man possessed, just steaming in, dirty as fck, got a point off in the 2nd for the head, he was just on Billam-Smith like a rash, he was overwhelming him with sheer volume and aggression, Billam-Smith was landing the better shots but too often he was under siege on the ropes trying to tuck up before firing out of danger, he looked like he had Rozicki out on his feet in the 3rd after a right but again Rozicki just no quit, kept coming and kept landing, Billam-Smith didn't look too comfortable but he's been here many a time and sure enough he started catching Rozicki with hard clean punches with more regularity and only heart was keeping him up and going, as I say good call to pull their man

That was bada!s fight. Rozicki is type of guy you dont want to mess with somewhere on street. Hat off to Billam Smith to handle this guy like that. But crazy part is, there is decent chance of Rozicki would win that fight if continue. But risk of brain injury was just too high, very good stoppage. Clarke - Massey was good too. Rest of card, nothing but total garbage

Easily one of the hardest kids you'll see in a ring. He just looked numb to the pain. Hard watch really and i did fear we were seeing another nick blackwell.

Looked a great atmosphere there tbh, one to be at.

Crazy tactics from the android, took Macklin 5 rounds to say I think he's not too bothered about defence.
Great entertainment.

Just watched the Massey-Clarke highlights. For those that watched it live, did it feel a bit off that Clarke was allowed to get knocked down then knocked around and still got given a chance to fight on but Massey got dropped once then got knocked around a bit without getting the opportunity for a second knockdown? He looked fairly out of it but so did Clarke earlier on

Glad the domestic abuser got battered. CBS was tougher than smacking his girlfriend around.

Ironically, if I asked AI to create an image of a woman beater it'd create Rozicki

Rozicki is tough as shite.

He's from the middle of nowhere too. Just an outcrop of islands on the eastern part of Canada. I used to go there on cruise ships. It's lovely but just not much there. Just drinking & fighting I suppose.

Funny how we think of Canada as being a little north but where he's from is about level with the Bordeaux region, which us British generally consider warmer climes.

Just looked & 95% of Canadians live south of London.

Referee Bob Williams is not very bright. I’ve seen him fail to notice boxers badly hurt and let the fights continue numerous times. He got away with it last night as Chev didn’t get hurt and turned the tables - but his legs were gone and Bob bizarrely didn’t even look down and notice when asking him to walk towards him.

He’s going to get a boxer badly hurt as a result of being slow to pick up on obvious signs.
I think he got to stoppage right in the end, but it looked off, because of his actions earlier in the fight with Chev.

In isolation the stoppage was the right call, but when making comparison to clarke being knocked down, i can see how it looks off. What i will say is that clarke looked unsteady but he was still slipping and moving. Massey was just being pumelled.

Also, clarkes eyes never looked gone, he had a pretty concentrated stare when the ref spoke to him.

Ultimately no complaints from massey or team, so no real controversy.

I’m devastated to admit Zuffa were brilliant last night.

I’ll watch the Padley card back now, but I doubt it’s gonna top that.

Zuffa and that UFC pacing can't be complained about imo

Too much boxing cards have people chiming on in between fights, for no reason at all, mostly as well about things no one gives a f*ck about

keep it movin

Really enjoyed that, it's how all TV shows should be. Keep the fights coming and nice to have a main even start at a reasonable time for us old timers.

That fight would have done CBS the world of good, 7 rounds and he had to keep working all the way.

SUCCESSFUL ZUFFA EVENT FIRES UP WHITE, SAYS 'UK RUNS BOXING RIGHT NOW'

Dana White was pumped after a successful British debut for Zuffa Boxing.

Chris Billam-Smith and Ryan Rozicki combined to ensure the organization’s first event outside the US was topped by a barnburner at Bournemouth International Centre.

The Ring’s No. 3 cruiserweight, Billam-Smith dug in to produce a composed performance against No. 6 Rozicki, who was pulled out by his corner after seven rounds.

It was a thrilling start to Zuffa’s attempt to disrupt the UK market, which is dominated by three major promotional forces in Matchroom, Queensberry and Boxxer.

White says he does not see those outfits as competition but did concede that Britain has dominated boxing in recent years.

“Right now with the level we’re at, we’re competing with the NFL, we’re competing with the NBA, we’re competing with Major League Baseball and with the NHL," he said. "In the United States the powerhouse over there is the NFL, and I’m sure when they were sitting in their executive offices and they saw the deal we got with Paramount, they would be thinking, ‘Wait a minute, there was $8 billion sitting over at Paramount that we didn’t get? We would have started putting games on on Tuesdays.’

“When you go outside the United States you start competing with soccer. When I think about competition, those are the people I’m looking at as competition. Watch the announcements we’re going to make in the next month and then judge us on January 1 on how we’ve done.

“The UK runs boxing right now. Boxing has become a very European sport over the last 15-20 years and the UK has dominated boxing. For us to come in to the UK and put on an event like tonight, we’re pretty pumped.”

Neither Billam-Smith or Rozicki were available for comment post fight as they were taken to hospital for precaution. But White faced the UK media for the first time as a boxing promoter instead.

“What starts to happen when we rip this sport apart and start to build from the ground up, with nights like tonight, it starts to create all these different storylines and it starts to line up different fights," he said. "We have a Sky deal which is a very big deal to us so we will be in the UK a lot.

“Already this year in the United States, we’re going to be adding more fights to Paramount. We’re five months into this thing and we’re already adding more shows to our Paramount deal and I hope the same thing happens with Sky.”

On the eve of the event, it was reported that Boxxer, Ben Shalom’s promotional company, had launched legal action against Zuffa after claiming they had poached Billam-Smith and Sam Hickey, who won on the undercard.

But when asked about Boxxer’s claim, White said: “That’s not true. That will play out publicly.”

Whilst watching the Billam-Smith-Rozicki fight, fantastic bout by the way, I couldn't help thinking how good the Canadian could be if he had boxing skills.

He's heavy-handed, teak tough, fantastic stamina and relatively quick, he'd certainly reach world championship level (at least winning one of the alphabet belts) if he had a decent jab and was defensively sound.

Congratulations to Chris Billam-Smith - it must have been tough having to overcome an unorthodox fighter like Ryan Rozicki.

Fighters swarm to Zuffa Boxing event, Dana White keen to sign ‘everybody’

Among the stars already contracted to the TKO Group from the worlds of UFC, WWE and Zuffa Boxing, there were many notable faces in the crowd at the Bournemouth International Centre to watch Chris Billam-Smith’s dramatic victory over Ryan Rozicki on Saturday.

Billam-Smith won when the Canadian did not come out for the eighth round of a brutal battle.

And there was plenty of discussion about the faces in the crowd.

Conor Benn, already signed to Zuffa Boxing, was ringside with Dana White and Nick Khan. Ex-fighters, including Scott Welch and Steve Collins were there, but active boxers taking a look at the action in Bournemouth – not a exactly a known boxing hub – included Joshua Buatsi, who was cheering on his pal Cheavon Clarke (who defeated Jack Massey), Adam Azim, who is stablemates with Billam-Smith, and also WBO interim middleweight champ Denzel Bentley, light heavyweight Dan Azeez, heavyweight contender David Adeleye, IBF 154lbs champion Josh Kelly, and light heavyweight Craig Richards.

Post-fight, Zuffa Boxing boss Dana White was asked whether the crowd was filled with fighters he could work with.

“Well, obviously, I’m honored that a lot of these guys showed up to watch our event tonight,” he said. “And my goal is, over the next couple of years, to have everybody.

“Everybody.”
