Foster wasn't very good against heavyweights, but Floyd was a small heavyweight and probably could have got down to 175 at a push.
Foster was probably actually bigger, despite fighting at a lower weight.
Both of these guys can crack, Patterson with his beautiful leaping Left hook and Foster with his jab and Right cross.
I'd side with Patterson by stoppage, but he'd probably have to taste the canvas en route to winning.
Floyd Patterson V Bob Foster

At heavyweight, Patterson wins mid rounds. Light Heavy, I'm more prone to say Foster late.

I would pick Floyd Patterson at heavyweight.
At light-heavyweight, nobody beats the great Bob Foster.

At heavyweight, Patterson stops Foster. At 175, I'd still take Patterson if they weighed-in under today's rules and Patterson re-hydrated to say 185-190. If they weigh-in at noon on fight day at 175 and box at 10:00 P.M., Foster is the smart choice.
