If he doesn't get caught, Buddy by UD. But if he gets caught, Pipino by KO.

Yep. The classic Boxer vs Puncher scenario. The 15 round distance could possibly favor Pipino only because McGirt never fought in the 15 round era, and Pipino did.

I'd pick McGirt, but not with overwhelming confidence, but rather, by something like 3 to 2 odds. Even the absolute prime version of Cuevas.

Cuevas could certainly land one of his patented vicious hooks and end it around the 12th round, but I see it being just a bit more likely that we would've seen a McGirt boxing clinic where he out-points Cuevas, and by a substantial margin as well.

I don't think that James "Buddy" McGirt has ever been hit by a puncher so devastating as Pipino Cuevas.

In this fight, McGirt probably would be winning by a shutout, but, the resiliency and power of the Mexican would break Buddy sooner or later.

This is a case of boxer vs slugger, but Pipino's power was one of the all-time best.

Pipino by knockout in the 13th.
