Why do the west celebrate the Hijab?

Post by Ricky »

Why do we celebrate it? Why is the NHS plastered with diversity posters featuring staff or patients wearing them? Why is it that we don't recognise this symbol of misogynistic oppression for exactly what it is?

You know the answer Rick - it's part of a concerted effort by the state and the liberal consensus which runs the country to convince the populace that having a country full of people from alien and hostile cultures is somehow a good thing.

So far, it's been pretty effective too, I must say.

Does anyone really celebrate it? Or is it just institutions / companies trying to show they’re ‘inclusive’? They do it with anything & everything they can.

I've seen public libraries offer prayer rugs and prayer space for muslims, but apparently no one else. I've seen public schools that put Happy Eid, Mubarak signs on school property, but nothing for Easter and Christmas. And lefty school teachers and library staff think this is wonderful. Apparently separation of church and state only applies to Christians.

I keep trying to tell people. How can you complain about Iran when the Saudis are far worse, and yet we protect those bastards. The House of Saud are the real enemies of the West, not Iran.

Definitely not true. In Iran churches and synagogues are open, they have parliamentary representation. In Saudi Arabia it is illegal for any form of public display of non-muslim religious symbols. The vast majority of Islamic terrorist organizations in the World are Saudi inspired Wahhabists.

The Iranians are also funnier. Their social media during the war was quite lol at times.
I mean, look at this one? It's as if they are actually just like you and me, watching Benny Hill at 8pm on Thursday nights after Top of the Pops at their granny's house. Lol

Hmmm, I think celebrating is a bit of a stretch, why do we occasionally see a hijab ? Because there are a relatively tiny number of people in this country who wear them :maybe: I don't feel oppressed by the hijab, I just feel sorry for the poor women who are brain washed into wearing them.

I don't know that a bunch of men telling women they can't wear something, is an awful lot better than them telling them they have to.

The best thing for a modern civilised society like the UK would be to not allow any sort of religious symbol or dress in public. No hijabs, no kirpan, no crucifixes. Do want you want at home or in your place of worship, but in public we shouldn’t be accepting any of this nonsense. It’s 2026, not the dark ages.

"Why do we celebrate it?"

I have no freaking idea. The most liberal among us should be the most set against the values of countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia. The debate of which is worse between those 2 nations is like debating who was nicer Hitler or Stalin.

To try to answer this is they must either be so ridiculousy ignorant that they're unaware or they're so dumb that they think if we are nice they will change.

What I hate about it most is people that are pro choice on all the cultural issues are being lumped in with these naive morons. .Immigrants from the ME are not pro choice and they are not pro gay marriage.

I don't agree. The UK is a Christian nation and the country is built upon Christian tradition, so Christian symbols are valid.

I'm not religious myself by the way.

Hijabs are okay, as long as the women don't mind wearing them.

Muslim women are chaste, not promiscuous like a lot of atheist women. I've found they like men from western countries, because we treat them better than Muslim men do.

I don't believe Sikhs should be allowed to carry kirpans though, because it puts everybody else in danger of being stabbed.
