Jose Valenzuela vs. Edwin De Los Santos II | Paramount+ - June 28, 2026

Great KO punch but he hit him when he was down.
If I was De Los Santos manager I'd be putting in a complaint straight away.
I could watch these two fight each other every 3 or 4 months.

So I watched this on Paramount + on my laptop & one thing Zuffa do is show instant replies of good punches about 5 seconds after it happens in a little box elsewhere on the screen.
I don't mind it but if you're scoring the fight you'll have to ignore that gimmick.

Spoke to Jeff Mullen, executive director of the NSAC. Regarding Rayo punch that connected while De Los Santos was on canvas: determined after replay from multiple angles that it grazed the chain and mostly connected with the shoulder. No impact on result.

De Los Santos caught Valenzuela with a big left early in the 1st and i thought he'd have his number going in tbh but by end of opener Valenzuela was catching him clean and hurting him then absolutely poleaxed De Los Santos with a huge right hook in the 2nd, bit naughty with the last shot when he was already down, could've got himself DQ'd but good win for Valenzuela

Valenzuela is one of my favourite fighters at the moment. Doesn't shirk from a challenge, not afraid of a loss.handsofstone wrote: ↑29 Jun 2026, 12:23 De Los Santos caught Valenzuela with a big left early in the 1st and i thought he'd have his number going in tbh but by end of opener Valenzuela was catching him clean and hurting him then absolutely poleaxed De Los Santos with a huge right hook in the 2nd, bit naughty with the last shot when he was already down, could've got himself DQ'd but good win for Valenzuela
I would like to see a 3rd fight between these two as the ending was a tad naughty.

lmao how does anyone watch replays of that end and conclude that the punch on the canvas just barely grazed him, it was a good shot that nailed him while down. i dont know if it woulda changed the outcome, but acting like it hardly landed is so f@cking stupid
Re: Jose Valenzuela vs. Edwin De Los Santos II | Paramount+ - June 28, 2026
Yeah it was bomb on the button while he was down. Could be easily DQ. Still, Valenzuela would stop him anyway IMOmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Jun 2026, 18:36 lmao how does anyone watch replays of that end and conclude that the punch on the canvas just barely grazed him, it was a good shot that nailed him while down. i dont know if it woulda changed the outcome, but acting like it hardly landed is so f@cking stupid

Team De Los Santos to file complaint over late Valenzuela shot
Edwin De Los Santos and his team won’t allow Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela to get away with it
On Sunday at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, De Los Santos fought and lost to Valenzuela by stoppage in the second round. However, after the Dominican had already hit the floor, Valenzuela landed one left hand to the chin/shoulder area of his opponent.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission's (NSAC) executive director Jeff Mullen told The Ring's Mike Coppinger that after replays from multiple angles, the punch grazed De Los Santos' chin before mostly connecting with the shoulder, bearing no impact on the result.
Team De Los Santos, however, is taking action.
“It was a good shot by Rayo but as the ref told us before the fight, if you hit a guy while he’s down, there’s no conversation and no warnings right now, it’s an instant DQ,” Adrian Clark, manager of De Los Santos, said. “Edwin was clearly hit while he was down.”
Both De Los Santos (17-3, 15 KOs) and Valenzuela (16-3, 10 KOs) have history. The two fought back in 2022 and it ended in a third-round stoppage victory for the former.
Heading into their rematch, the lightweight contender believed he could do the same. According to Clark, his fighter is more than capable of beating Valenzuela but wasn’t treated fairly. Now, he plans on taking the matter into his own hands.
“I talked to the commissioner of Vegas and even though they're acknowledging that he was hit while he was down, what I’ve been told twice is that him being hit after he went down had no impact on the fight,” Clark said.
“The executive director just kind of shrugged it off. But it’s my job to make a complaint. For now, Rayo got the knockout but my thing is, rules are rules. He got hit clearly after he was down. A complaint will be made. We’ll see what happens.”

Good.
I hope they do something about it. It wasn't even a split second thing either. He made that decision to hit him.
