It at least makes sense from a Physical dimensions perspective. He wants to stay used to fighting big men so that AJ's size isn't anything new to him when that fight starts.

All of these guys have a significantly different build than Usyk had.

It’s a public spar by the looks of it. No purse and a 1500 crowd. Netflix on the poster but not showing it (yet). It’s material for the next Netflix series at least.

The number of days in UK is not the issue, it’s about being taxed by HMRC on income earned in the UK.

I haven’t been keeping up to date but I remember it became an issue for tennis players at Wimbledon back in the day with HMRC wanting to tax not only their winnings but also any sponsorship income they had made in the year on a pro rata basis.

So say you played 10 tournaments a year, one being Wimbledon (10%) , they didn’t only want to tax you on tournament winnings from Wimbledon, but also wanted to tax 10% of all your other sponsorship earnings. So say you were getting £10m per annum from Nike, they would want to tax £1m of that too.

Fury and Joshua’s tune-up fights are blatant mismatches, paid chances to get fit, shake off ring rust, and earn huge sums in low-risk sparring sessions against tall, terribly limited opponents.

Networks and promoters will only allow Tyson and AJ to take mismatches because another loss at this stage would end either man’s career and prevent their fight from taking place.

Tyson Fury-Mariusz Wach set for July 24 in Thailand

Tyson Fury is taking a tune-up tilt against Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24, it was announced on Tuesday.

The pitting will take place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, one day before Anthony Joshua faces Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.

The expectation is for Fury to easily handle Wach in his warm-up, just like Joshua should against Prenga as the former heavyweight champions move on to bigger and better things against each other later this year.

“This is a landmark year for me in boxing, and I’m excited to be able to bring this event to Pattaya, a part of the world that is special to me,” Fury said in a statement.

“At the same time, I’m fully focused on preparing for a tough opponent and making sure I’m the best version of Tyson Fury going into fight night. It’s the start of a huge second half of the year for me.”

Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs) returned in April after a fifth retirement throughout 2025 and beat Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision following back-to-back decision losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

Fury held training camp in Thailand for the matchup against Makhmudov and has shared his affinity for his new home base. Now he’s rewarding the Southeast Asian country with a stay-busy fight that also comes with a charitable purpose, as profits from tickets will be donated to local charities across Pattaya.

“We’re coming together to put on a great show for the fans, while using the opportunity to give back to the local community, who have been so good to me every time I have visited,” Fury said.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said the sanctioning body will award a “WBC Humanitarian Title” as well; Fury is a former WBC titleholder.

Wach (39-13, 20 KOs) is a 46-year-old from Krakow, Poland, who's been around the boxing block against some of the sport's most credible names. But Wach has consistently fallen short each time he stepped up the competition against the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Moses Itauma, Dillian Whyte, Frazer Clarke, Martin Bakole, Arslanbek Makhmudov, Jarrell Miller and Alexander Povetkin, among others.

Wach has a record of 8-12 since November 2015, the same time in which Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko to become the heavyweight champion of the world; five of Wach’s 13 career losses have come by knockout.

Wach last fought in March and suffered a 10-round unanimous decision loss against Viktor Vykhryst in Budapest.

“This fight is serious preparation for his fight with Anthony Joshua, and we cannot afford any slip-ups at this stage,” Fury’s manager Spencer Brown said in a statement. “So, Tyson will be ready, and I fully expect him to build on his performance at Tottenham Stadium in April.”

Fury versus Wach will be promoted by allegedly’s Queensberry Promotions.

“Boxing is a better place with Tyson Fury in it, so it’s fantastic to have him back in action on Friday, July 24,” Warren said in a statement. “Tyson is in great shape and completely focused on putting on a show against Wach. He’s a true global superstar, and I have no doubt the fans will pack the place out in Thailand to watch a vintage performance from the Gypsy King.”

Tyson Fury says humanitarian deeds not a distraction for Mariusz Wach fight

Former unified heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury says he’s happy to be donating the ticket proceeds to his just-announced fight against Mariusz Wach to local charities across Pattaya, Thailand.

Fury, 35-2-1 (24 KOs), and Wach, 39-13 (20 KOs), will meet in the 10-round main event on Friday, July 24, at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya.

Fury will also be holding his training camp for the fight in Pattaya, the second time he has done so. The 37-year-old held his camp there for his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

“2026 is a landmark year for me in boxing and I’m excited to be able to bring this event to Pattaya, a part of the world that is special to me,” explained Fury. “We’re coming together to put on a great show for the fans, while using the opportunity to give back to the local community, who have been so good to me every time I have visited.”

In recognition of this and past charitable deeds, the World Boxing Council will present Fury with the inaugural WBC Humanitarian Title that night.

“The WBC is extremely proud and excited about the boxing match that our proud champion Tyson Fury will hold in Pattaya, Thailand on July 24 with the money generated to be destined to charity,” said WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman. “The WBC is creating a unique commemorative belt to be awarded to the winner and join this memorable humanitarian event.”

The side story of his kind donation aside, Fury, who is reportedly taking this fight against Wach to stay sharp before his proposed superfight against Anthony Joshua later this year, says he's still laser focused on getting into perfect shape.

“At the same time, I’m fully focused on preparing for a tough opponent and making sure I’m the best version of Tyson Fury going into fight night. It’s the start of a huge second half of the year for me.”
