zuffa boxing has been really good tbh

Post by margaret thatcher »

not really super high profile fights, but loads of competitive matches, plenty of upsets, and bringing guys back after losses so it's not just about the 0 (e.g . cain sandoval was upset by julian rodriguez, then instead of being cast aside they brought him back to fight another prospect/contender in brandun lee, then he beat lee)

essentially its been matched like the ufc, other than having high profile names

It's definitely competitive cards, and competitive matchmaking fight after fight no doubt about that. They're not taking it as a given that just because a guy lost once he could be beaten by this unbeaten guy, which is good. because as we all know. It's not a given.

If someone has a winning mentality, and good training behind them, 1 loss doesn't mean the end. 2 losses doesn't mean the end either.

I watched all 8 cards. Enjoyed all of them. Need to be every 2 weeks instead every month. On zuffa 09, one of my favorites - Sergey Derevyanchenko is fighting :box: :box: :box:

I thought the CBS card, in particular, was really on point. Just got on with the fights, no 45 mins between fights or over hyped build up.

You make good points! Competitive fights are a great watch, whether the fighters are established or not.

Slightly off topic, aren't they going to run out of 'prestige' fighters pretty quickly? A genuine question, not meant to be flippant, who have they got at HW? I know of Martin, Wallin, Fisher and Ajagba. Are there many others I don't know about? If they were able to secure Fury for example would he be defending a Zuffa belt against that standard?? I'm sure their plan is to secure rather more but I fear that when their 'league' emerges the ratings are going to resemble the days of the WBF, a smattering of genuine talents mixed with a slew of much lesser lights and 42 year olds from Rumania with a 22(19)-1 record.

I might not be seeing the bigger picture at all, and am happy to be enlightened.

Agreed, I think they have taken on board what the punters want.

Not sure what ticket prices are like, but the Bournemouth bill looked like fun.
