Bill Goldberg- were you a fan or a hater ?

Post by goose 5 »

I stopped watching wrestling long before his era but, oddly enough, I saw his television debut as I was channel surfing and stopped on it.

Never was real big on him, but he has a unique place in Pro Wrestling history, and is definitely a testament to how big you can get a guy over with a well done push to make him a star.

Limited in-ring abilities and lacked of cardio, covered the flaws with an intense and believable gimmick, especially against capable colleagues. His bouts against Steiner and DDP are gems.

At the time it was great.

He was popular. Hugely over.

They booked him well considering his limitations.

I stopped being a fan after a while.

I didn’t mind his comeback in 2016.. was ok. But he stayed too long.

He had a handful of good matches.

Goldberg was an old favourite of mine from his WCW days. Everyone knows that he was extremely limited as a wrestler, but his Winning Streak was great fun and he became the king of matches under 5 minutes...

Plus, he really made a lot of money for WCW (then later WWE) - the one great regret has to be not having him in The Invasion storyline...

A lot of the top stars were missing because they had contracts with Turner..

Plus not having the bigger names in the invasion made sense afterwards.. because WCW lost. Then the bigger names bar Sting, started coming in over the next couple of years. made their own debuts/returns bigger.
