Where's McBride?
Last I ever seen Kevin McBride was in negotiations to face off with Matt Skelton for some title, I believe it was the Commonwealth or British, but then I saw that fell through, and now Skelton is to face Danny Williams.
That and I saw McBride say he was in negotiations with different champions (this was months ago) Vitali Klitschko and John Ruiz...but both those men either retired or lost their title.
So where is McBride? What is being planned? Hell I know he isn't a great fighter, but he made Tyson quit and not even Lewis did that, and he virtually had no chance of winning---yet pulled off the upset of the year.
Somebody should follow up this under-dog story, before McBride loses his chance at something.

McBride has done a great job of failing to capitalize on his big achievement. It's amazing when you consider he was first up to face Tyson when Danny Williams jumped in for less money -- one would think he'd learn from the experience, yet he continues to price himself out of fights in order to try to an undeserved title shot. He should face off with the Skelton-Williams winner, but I doubt it happens. Fighting Kenna would at least get him ACTIVE which he needs to become.

Well, I think maybe McBride should face this Kenna and then get a shot at the Williams-Skelton winner, or at least a match with Skelton and if he manages to win both those fights---give him an underdog shot at Valuev.
It would be easily the biggest Heavyweight title fight in history, in the phsyical sense and it be interesting to see Valuev actually fight someone more nearer his own size and have some pop to his punches.

McBride can't beat any of the fighters you mentioned. He really sucks beyond belief. The guy is so shit it's unreal.IrishRufusMurphy wrote:Well, I think maybe McBride should face this Kenna and then get a shot at the Williams-Skelton winner, or at least a match with Skelton and if he manages to win both those fights---give him an underdog shot at Valuev.
Just speaking the truth matey, no offence to McBride he always tries his best

Mind you I said "if he manages to win"....I seen the man fight Kevin Montiy before he faced Tyson on St. patrick's day and as much as I love Irish fighters---I sincerly thought this guy was a dead man cus he was as slow as an ox, he was like Boris Karloff in Frankenstein with those 25 pound asphalt spreader boots.
But the man can punch---and you got to look at it this way. McBride states that the Tyson fight was the first time in his career that he got to train full-time for a fight.
Chuck Wepner said the same thing and went the distance with Muhammad Ali and he was just a club fighter from Jersey.
Hey, stranger things have happened. And you got to figure Tyson blew away Clifford Ettienne in 45 seconds---yet couldnt thwart McBride, and everybody considered Ettienne a decent test.
I say McBride should get the chance...cus come on man, everybody loves underdog's and what's the big deal neways---if McBride is such a pushover---why not let some champ face him as a tune up to a real bout, what really is the hurt in it?

Basically the champ will be ridiculed for taking on such a poor fighter in a title defence, and believe me McBride is a very POOR fighter. The champ will lose a lot of credibility by taking on this MEGA bumIrishRufusMurphy wrote:---if McBride is such a pushover---why not let some champ face him as a tune up to a real bout, what really is the hurt in it?
Brewster would dismantle McBride in one round, Wlad would do the same and Byrd would also destroy him with one hand tied behind his back.
Furthermore, eventhough Valuev has not been particularly impressive he would still destroy McBride within a few rounds, that's not saying Valuev has great punching power or speed, it just emphasises how ridiculously poor McBride is as a fighter.
Man o man is that guy crap, but I'm glad the bum got some glory for beating Tyson (... a Tyson who was a shadow of the shadow he was a couple of years ago
Tyson was a TOTALLY finished fighter given that he couldn't stop a mega bum like McBride, so Tyson did the right thing by quitting.
Infact an average journeyman has a good chance of beating McBride, that's how poor McBride is (as Michael Murray illustrated).
I have to disagree here -- I think most people knew Etienne was going to fold early and look for a soft spot on the canvas as soon as he got in the ring.IrishRufusMurphy wrote:

To be honest he didn't even really beat that Tyson, Iron Mike just gave up. Tyson was ahead on points and he pumelled McBride for a few rounds before noticing that he couldn't generate much power into his punches and he accepted the fact that he was not the same fighter so there was no point continuing.

I guess you could call the guy who KOd McBride tonight an average journeyman, even though he had a 17-1 record!!lawllb wrote:lawllb wrote:McBride can't beat any of the fighters you mentioned. McBride really was terrible. Big beer belly and slower than ever which is saying something. He was there for Mollo to just pummel and didn't offer much of a defence.
Mollo looks powerful and is dangerous with the left hook but my god it was suggested that the winner of McBride-Mollo fight the winner of Valuev-Barrett.

I said any decent fighter would KO Mcbride within a few rounds, EVEN a journeyman (which has already happened to Mcbride in the past, so there's no need to illustrate that again). I never mentioned anywhere that Mollo was a journeyman, but he is a 'half' decent fighter.
My main point was that Mcbride didn't deserve a shot at any of the world title belts because he sucks beyond belief and yesterday clearly proved that
