Re: Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia - 12 September 2026
That's the thing with this fight. I can't be so certain about any outcome due to Garcia's erratic manner.
A 50% Garcia should easily beat Benn. But will he have another meltdown before the fight?
In his last five bouts he's lost twice, once by KO to a very good Tank & once by a clear decision to a so so Rolly, getting decked in the process.
He also had the no contest with Haney & the less said about that the better. And his title win, while good & disciplined, was against a very average fighter who many thought had lost to a 46 year old Pacquiao - who himself hasn't won a fight since 2019.
It could (should) be an easy nights work for Garcia, especially as I don't think Benn should be at 147 anymore. But Benn is fit & strong & will be having a go.
This is just one of those fights where I will be sitting on the fence.
p.s. they are both allegedly drug cheats

Too be honest its always been in the back of my mind if Benn really wanted this fight the biggest obstacle would always be signing with Whyte ,, No other promoter is gonna hand him the reins and say , there ya go Dana , don't worry about it old boy , you can come poach my world champion any time you want

I don't rate Garcia that highly but he's twice the boxer Benn is. Should be a good scrap hopefully but Benn is out of his depth at this level
Re: Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia - 12 September 2026
Garcia will punch Benn's head right in for him

Hard to argue with much of what you say about Ryan.Taansend wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026, 15:26That's the thing with this fight. I can't be so certain about any outcome due to Garcia's erratic manner.

Is there any rhyme or reason to why he's been so inconsistent ? For example has he switched trainers a number of times during this run of fights ? If so i wonder was his mixed bag of performances in part due to not getting on with / respecting his trainer for certain fights ? I'm purely speculating there.
Notwithstanding that i think whichever version of Ryan shows up will still deal easily with Benn. I don't think we've seen any evidence that Benn could've beaten any of Ryan's recent opponents. Obviously Haney and Tank would wipe the floor with him but even a quite limited guy like Barrios has decent enough fundamentals and is seasoned enough to give Benn a very hard night's work
Re: Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia - 12 September 2026
There's a lot of things that make a Ryan Garcia v Connor Benn a big fight.
They seemingly want to go straight into it but keep pulling back on the date.

Garcia could have a mental breakdown the morning of the fight and still punch holes in Benn. There’s levels and Benn is southern area level

Be honest, did you see Garcia losing to Rolly or beating the granny out of Haney?smiling assassin wrote: ↑05 Jul 2026, 02:51 Garcia could have a mental breakdown the morning of the fight and still punch holes in Benn. There’s levels and Benn is southern area level

Re: Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia - 12 September 2026
Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn could be announced imminently
The Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn WBC welterweight title fight could be formally announced as soon as Friday, as the involved parties have congregated in Las Vegas pending final negotiations, Boxing Scene has learned.
Southern California’s Garcia, 25-2 (20 KOs), is set to make the first defense of the WBC welterweight title he won in February on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, an individual close to the situation said.
England’s Benn, 25-1 (14 KOs), is the WBC’s No. 1-ranked contender after avenging a 2025 fight-of-the-year loss to Chris Eubank Jnr and then defeating veteran Regis Prograis in April in the U.K. However, he hasn't made the 147lbs limit since 2022.
Garcia originally announced he was fighting Benn, son of recently inducted International Boxing Hall of Fame member Nigel Benn, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The acrimony that exists between his promoter Oscar De La Hoya and Benn’s Zuffa Boxing promoter Dana White has made the negotiations legally tense according to those involved, and who will be leading the promotion and streaming has yet to be made public.
Paramount+ streams Zuffa Boxing cards, but Garcia fights for Golden Boy Promotions’ streaming partner DAZN.
Zuffa Boxing operates under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella that also includes the UFC, which is staging a major Saturday event headlined by returning two-division champion Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.

I really dislike conor and find it hard to give him any credit. And thats been easy whilst they dig up the latest corpse for him.
But, This is a live fighter and i actually think he could win. Garcia is so bad sometimes, i just watched the Rolly fight again, he could let Benn win. Its certainly not a foregone conclusion. I shall, begrudgingly, say good fight.

I agree with your begrudging assessment about this being a good fight. You never know what you're going to get with Garcia. When he's on, he can be dynamic, but when he's not, he can by abysmal. I would say Benn's fortune lies with which Garcia shows up.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑11 Jul 2026, 09:03 I really dislike conor and find it hard to give him any credit. I do think that, now he's back with his dad, we'll see a focused Garcia & he picks Benn apart over 12.
But the build up will be a laugh, especially if Benn tries to integrate himself into the Spanish speaking (majority) of Boxing fans in the US.

Still issues on Golden Boy/Garcia/DAZN side so no announcement yet even though the fighters & Zuffa Boxing PR team were on hand anticipating it was to have happened at Friday's weigh-in, per sources. But paper not done & they weren't going to announce until it was DONE. Benn side is done. IF Garcia side gets done, presser next week in NY around the Zuffa MSG card.
