WBC #12 Bryan Flores looking to prove he belongs at the top when he takes on Jonathan Navarro on ProBoxTV, July 18 in San Bernardino

WBC #12-ranked Bryan “Nino Maravilla” Flores says he is planning on putting on a show when he takes on Jonathan “Thunder” Navarro on Saturday, July 18.

Flores, 28-1-1 (16 KOs), of Las Vegas via Juarez, Mexico, and Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), of East Los Angeles will meet in the 10-round super lightweight main event, live on ProBoxTV, from the NOS Events Center (7:00 pm EST/4:00 pm PST) in San Bernardino, California,

“I’m going to be smarter with better defense, but more aggressive as well,” said Flores. “In my last fight (a majority decision in January over then 20-1-1 Starling Castillo on ProBoxTV), I had a lot in the tank, but I didn't finish him off like I wanted to. On this one, I’m gonna demonstrate I’m ready for the best in the world.”

Flores' only loss was a controversial and close split decision to now No 1-ranked WBO and IBF super lightweight contender Lindolfo Delgado in August of 2024.

Flores says he’s more concerned about continuing to climb the WBC ratings and eventually face WBC champion Dalton Smith or interim champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz rather than pursuing a rematch with Delgado first.

“I’m focused on the WBC because it’s a Mexican’s dream to fight for that belt. Every Mexican fighter’s goal is to get that green belt. I will take whatever comes my way, but I prefer the WBC. I’d eventually like to win all the belts though.”

Delgado describes upcoming foe Navarro as a “tough fighter,” and despite having suffered his two career losses in his last two fights, expects him to show up on fight night with something extra to prove.

“He knows this might be his last call at the bar because of his losses, which means I have to be cautious with him. He might be coming out with everything now because he knows that it might be his last chance.”

Flores relocated to Las Vegas in late 2024 to work with trainer Richard Barrientes and assistant trainer Eddie Sanchez at the Pound for Pound Gym, and also signed with promoter Sampson Lewkowicz to be featured regularly on ProBoxTV.

“Everything is looking good,” said Flores, “I’m very happy and very comfortable to be working with Rich and Eddie as a team. I wouldn't change anything now that I’m here. I’m also very happy with ProBoxTV and Sampson. They have put me on a big platform that is really helping to move my career along. My biggest hope is that I don't let them down when I do get my chance.”

In the night’s 10-round super welterweight co-feature, southpaws Joshua Kevin Anton (13-0, 12 KOs) of Palmdale, California, and Vladimir Hernandez (17-7, 7 KOs) of Stockton, California via Durango, Mexico, will collide.

And in a special added attraction, current champion Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz (18-1-1, 8 KOs) of Los Angeles, will face interim champion Ginny Fuchs (4-0, 1 KO) of Houston in a 10-round battle for the WBC Women’s World Super Flyweight Championship.

In the 10-round welterweight chief supporting bout, Ruben “El Pollito” Aguillar (24-0-1, 21 KOs) of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, takes on Tre'Sean “Trigger” Wiggins (17-5-4, 10 KOs) of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Future Stars action to begin the evening features, Anthony “2 Quick” Cuba (12-1-2, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles battling Misael 'Pichon' Cabrera (18-3-1, 12 KOs) of Sonora, Mexico, in a super lightweight eight-rounder; and Charles “LOLO” Harris (12-1, 7 KOs) of Rialto, California, returning to action in another eight-round super lightweight bout against Jason “El Gallo” Limon (11-2-1, 2 KOs) of San Antonio.

More exciting fights will be announced shortly. Tickets for this event are available through thundertix.com.

The event is presented by Garry Jonas (Pro Box Promotions) and Robert Garcia.

Jonathan Navarro looking to resurrect promising career on July 18 with victory over Bryan Flores in main event on ProBoxTV

Despite setbacks in his last two fights, Jonathan “Thunder” Navarro says he’s still got “it” and plans on proving it against WBC #12-ranked Bryan “Nino Maravilla” Flores on Saturday, July 18.

Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), of East Los Angeles and Flores, 28-1-1 (16 KOs), of Las Vegas via Juarez, Mexico, will meet in the 10-round super lightweight main event, live on ProBoxTV (7:00 pm EST/4:00 pm PST), from the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California.

“Training is going really good,” said Navarro during a break. “I’m sparring a lot. Obviously at RGB (Robert Garcia Boxing), you're sparring top-level fighters. So, even though I might spar the same guys, it's always totally different every time.”

In 2019, Navarro was a world-ranked contender with an undefeated 17-0 record. And then, the pandemic hit, followed by a serious bicep injury, that kept him out of action for a total of three months shy of five years.

Upon his return, Navarro beat journeyman Clarence Booth by eight-round decision on ProBoxTV before hitting the road in 2024 to lose consecutive fights, a 10-round decision to Jair Valtierra and then a fifth-round TKO to former IBF World Super Lightweight champ Liam Paro six months later.

“My two losses were something that just happened,” Navarro explained. “Against Valtierra, I wasn't in the right state of mind when the fight happened. I was having some issues, but obviously there's no excuses. He was the best man that day, so my hat is off to him. And then the last one with Paro, he’s a great champion. I didn't want to stop it, but my corner ended up stopping the fight due to a cut. I thought I could have kept going.

A year later and fully healed, Navarro is back to face Flores and trying to get his once-promising career back on track with a victory.

“He's a well-rounded fighter,” Navarro said of Flores. “I would say he's pretty good. I know he's a pressure fighter. He comes forward. I know he's been dropped a couple times, so that's another thing I see that could be to my advantage. I know I have power, even to this day. Everybody at the gym always tells me I'm very strong. I think I can take him. I'm not taking anything away from him, but I know I'll be able to do a lot of damage to him because I just want it more.”

Even with a loss to Flores, Navarro says he still has a lot left to give in the ring once he’s consistently active and sharpened to his pre-pandemic shape.

Still, he admits he often wonders what could have been had he not been forced to take five years off at the height of his career.

“It eats me alive. Every day I think about it. It was just wasted time. The pandemic and then the bicep injury held me back a lot. I was ranked in a couple of sanctioning organizations. It makes me think, you know, what if? But I can't stay stuck in the past. I have to move on and let it go. Life happens, you know? Sometimes you have some issues that distract you.”

In the night’s 10-round super welterweight co-feature, southpaws Joshua Kevin Anton, 13-0 (12 KOs), of Palmdale, California, and Vladimir Hernandez, 17-7 (7 KOs), of Stockton, California via Durango, Mexico, will collide.

And in a special added attraction, current champion Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz, 18-1-1 (8 KOs), of Los Angeles, will face interim champion Ginny Fuchs, 4-0 (1 KO), of Houston in a 10-round battle for the WBC Women’s World Super Flyweight Championship.

In the 10-round welterweight chief supporting bout, Ruben “El Pollito” Aguillar, 24-0-1 (21 KOs), of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, takes on Tre'Sean “Trigger” Wiggins, 17-5-4 (10 KOs), of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Future Stars action to begin the evening features, Anthony “2 Quick” Cuba, 12-1-2 (5 KOs), of Los Angeles battling Misael 'Pichon' Cabrera, 18-3-1 (12 KOs), of Sonora, Mexico, in a super lightweight eight-rounder; and Charles “LOLO” Harris, 12-1 (7 KOs), of Rialto, California, returning to action in another eight-round super lightweight bout against Jason “El Gallo” Limon, 11-2-1 (2 KOs), of San Antonio.

More exciting fights will be announced shortly. Tickets for this event are available through thundertix.com. The event is presented by Garry Jonas (Pro Box Promotions) and Robert Garcia.

Charly Suarez-Manuel Avila and two more fights added to July 18 ProBoxTV

ProBoxTV has added three more televised fights to their Saturday, July 18, live broadcast from the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California.

With all three fights originally scheduled for the now cancelled July 11 show in San Francisco, added to the card will be a 10-round super featherweight battle between WBO No. 1- and WBC No. 11-ranked Charly “King’s Warrior” Suarez, 18-0 (10 KOs), of Manila, Philippines, and Manuel Avila, 26-2-1 (9 KOs), of Fairfield, California.

Also added is a 10-round super welterweight contest between IBF USBA super welterweight champion Yan Marcos, 15-0 (10 KOs), of Miami via Cuba, and Guido Emmanuel Schramm, 17-4-3 (10 KOs), of Los Angeles via Argentina, as well as six-round featherweight contest featuring Oscar Bonifacino, 4-0-1 (3 KOs), of Maldonado, Uruguay, taking on Raul Escudero, 4-0, of Pamplona, Spain.

Suarez says he has elected to keep his skills sharp by putting his mandated rematch against WBO world super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete and his WBO No. 1 status on the line against Avila.

Suarez first challenged champion Navarrete in May of last year and the fight was halted in the eighth due to a Navarrete cut over his left eye that referee Edward Collantes ruled to have been caused by an accidental headbutt. The original verdict was a unanimous technical decision in favor of Navarrete.

However, the fight was changed to a No Contest when the California State Athletic Commission reviewed video replays that revealed the cut had been caused by a punch from Suarez and that, ultimately, he should have been awarded the victory and Navarrete’s title. The WBO ordered an immediate rematch between the two, however delays have prompted Suarez to risk facing Avila.

In the 10-round super lightweight main event, WBC #12-ranked Bryan “Nino Maravilla” Flores, 28-1-1 (16 KOs), of Las Vegas via Juarez, Mexico, faces Jonathan “Thunder” Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), of East Los Angeles. In the 10-round super welterweight co-feature, Joshua Kevin Anton (13-0, 12 KOs) of Palmdale, California, takes on Vladimir Hernandez (17-7, 7 KOs) of Stockton, California via Durango, Mexico.

In a women’s attraction, Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz, (18-1-1, 8 KOs), of Los Angeles, defends against interim champion Ginny Fuchs, (4-0, 1 KO), of Houston in a 10-round rematch for the WBC Women’s World Super Flyweight Championship.

Additionally, in a 10-round welterweight chief supporting bout, Ruben “El Pollito” Aguillar (24-0-1, 21 KOs) of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, will take on Tre'Sean “Trigger” Wiggins (17-5-4, 10 KOs) of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Future Stars action to begin the evening will feature Anthony “2 Quick” Cuba (12-1-2, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles battling Misael 'Pichon' Cabrera (18-3-1, 12 KOs) of Sonora, Mexico,

In a super lightweight eight-rounder Charles “LOLO” Harris (12-1, 7 KOs) of Rialto, California, returns to action in an eight-round super lightweight bout against Jason “El Gallo” Limon (11-2-1, 2 KOs) of San Antonio. Also scheduled is lightweight Amador Mendez, 7-0 (4 KOs), of Austin, Texas, taking on William King, 6-4-2 (3 KOs) of Lynwood, California, over six, and a six-round super welterweight battle between KJ Wailele, 4-0 (2 KOs), of Hawaii and Juan Carlos Campos Medina, 4-3 (3 KOs), of Mexico.

Tickets for this event, presented by ProBox Promotions, are available through thundertix.com.

Ginny Fuchs looking to dominate in Adelaida Ruiz rematch

Virginia "Ginny" Fuchs says she’ll put in a more dominant performance when she faces Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz in a 10-round rematch, on Saturday, July 18, live on ProBoxTV (1:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT) from the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California.

WBC interim titlist Fuchs, 4-0 (1 KO), of Houston, will meet WBC junior-bantamweight champion Ruiz, 18-1-1 (8 KOs), of Los Angeles to determine the true WBC 115-pound world champion.

The card is headlined by WBC No. 12-ranked Bryan “Nino Maravilla” Flores, 28-1-1 (16 KOs), facing Jonathan “Thunder” Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), in the 10-round super lightweight main event.

Fuchs and Ruiz met in late August 2024 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, with Fuchs winning a split decision to wrest the interim title from Ruiz by scores of 97-93 for Ruiz, 97-93 Fuchs and 100-90 Fuchs.

Fuchs, however, suffered a thumb injury during the fight and, because of injury rehabilitation and a series of setbacks, hasn’t fought since.

In November 2025, the WBC allowed Ruiz to fight for the full championship against Canada's Alexas Kubicki with the stipulation the winner face Fuchs. Ruiz defeated Kubicki by unanimous decision.

“I think it’s always a war in the ring but I’m going to make it more definitive this time,” said Fuchs in response to Ruiz previously telling Boxing Scene she was expecting all-out war in the rematch. “The things I was doing that worked in the first fight is what I’ll be doing more of this time. I’ll break her down a lot more and make it clearer that I won.”

Surprisingly, Fuchs says her grisly thumb injury wasn’t as serious as it appeared when she removed her glove that night to reveal her thumb bone had shockingly broken through the skin and was fully visible to the naked eye.

“I remember the punch when it first happened,” she recalls, “it was a right hook. I felt it, but thought it was just a thumb jam, those happen sometimes in boxing. I didn’t know the bone was out and it was that bad. Even when they took off the glove and I looked at it, I was like, ‘wait a minute, is that my thumb?’ I didn’t feel it until I was in the hospital. It was crazy how it was my thumb and I didn’t feel it. Adrenaline is a helluva drug!

“Rehab wasn’t that long,” continued Fuchs. “It wasn’t broken or torn. I jammed it so badly it dislocated. It wasn’t that bad. It was feeling good and I was hitting the bag and feeling nothing wrong by January.”

Despite being out of action for nearly two years, Fuchs, who during her extensive amateur career represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics, says ring rust won’t be an issue.

“I have so much experience in the amateurs and experience is everything, you know? I’ve had so many fights and seen so many different styles and different boxers that rust is never a problem. My whole pro career has been like this: mostly one fight a year. Even though this is the longest layoff yet, it won’t be a problem.”

Charly Suarez ready to put it all on the line against Manuel Avila July 18

Super featherweight Charly “King’s Warrior” Suarez says he’s well aware of the risks involved with facing capable veteran Manuel Avila in the co-featured bout of the ProBoxTV “The Contender Series” broadcast (4:00 pm ET/1:00 pm PT) on Saturday, July 18, from the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino.

Suarez, 18-0 (10 KOs), of Manila, Philippines, and Avila, 26-2-1 (9 KOs), of Fairfield, California, will meet in a 10-round battle for the WBO International junior lightweight championship.

But more importantly, against Avila, Suarez will be putting his WBO No. 1 mandatory-contender status and a rematch with WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete on the line as well.

37-year-old Suarez is also ranked No. 11 by the WBC.

“This fight is very important for me because I know that if I lose, I've done everything I can do in my career. So, I will show the people of the world that I’m still number one in my weight division in this fight. I know that my opponent trained hard for this fight, and I don’t want to lose, so I’ve trained hard too and I will do my best to win, no matter what happens.

“He’s a good, scientific boxer, but I can say anything I want before the fight, but in the ring, we will see what happens.”

Suarez says it took a week for him to adjust to staying and training in Las Vegas, but he’s comfortable and feeling good now, working out with his chief coach and manager Delfin Boholst and respected Canadian trainer Eric Belanger at the Split-T Boxing Club.

“We’ve had a good training camp,” said Suarez, “I enjoy the United States. There are a lot of excellent boxers here and a lot of good sparring.”

While other high-profile opponents have been mentioned for him, Suarez says he wants his rematch with Navarrete more than any other fight.

The pair met for the first time in May of last year and the fight was halted in the eighth due to a Navarrete cut over the left eye that was ruled to have been caused by an accidental headbutt. After going to the scorecards, the original verdict was a unanimous technical decision in favor of Navarrete.

However, the fight was changed to a No Contest when the California State Athletic Commission reviewed video replays that showed the cut had been caused by a punch and that, ultimately, Suarez should have been awarded the victory and Navarrete’s title.

The WBO ordered an immediate rematch between the two, however several subsequent delays are what convinced Suarez to risk his lofty status in this dangerous fight against Avila, aiming to stay sharp when his second title opportunity materializes.

“For me, personally, I want to fight Emanuel Navarrete for the title. That's the one I want," he admitted. "That is unfinished business. And it’s big for me if I win the world title because that’s been my dream since I was a child. Every boxer wants to be a world champion, and that's also a dream for me.”

A soldier in the Philippine Army back home, Suarez says he’s grateful for their support and from fans around the world.

“I have great support from the Philippine army and, as a soldier, I need to show honor and pride for my country and especially for The Philippine army.

“To all my fans around the world, especially here in California, please continue to support me, and thank you for always praying for me. And to all the Filipinos around the world, especially in the Philippines, thank you very much for always supporting me and guiding me.”

WBC No. 12-ranked Flores, 28-1 (16 KOs), of Las Vegas via Juarez, Mexico, and Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), of East Los Angeles will meet for the WBC FECARBOX super lightweight title in the night’s 10-round main event.
