AJ and Team Usyk

Post by SAPFO »

AJ didn’t give Team Usyk so much as a nod after the Prenga fight, anyone else notice?

Just watching the post-fight interviews back and it stands out how little (basically nothing) AJ said about the current corner.

He thanked the fans, gave a proper shout-out to Prenga and ‘his’ team, credited God, shouted out Eddie, and got emotional dedicating the recovery to Sina and Latz…

But the actual coaches and cornermen who were in his ear after those two knockdowns – the ones whose advice he followed into round 2, got zero real mention. One report said he thanked “his own team” in passing, but that was it. No names, no props, nothing specific for the Usyk-linked coaches who’ve been with him.

Given how intense that corner was between rounds (the DAZN raw footage made it look like they were genuinely dragging him back), the silence felt a bit cold. Especially when fighters usually at least give the corner a quick “love to the team” after a scare like that.

Is it just me, or does the lack of any real public acknowledgment of Team Usyk stand out?

I mean, coaches are allowed to coach different boxers. Boxers tend to thank their team and not name the team as belonging to the other boxers coached by that team.
