Frank Fletcher vs Tony Sibson. What If?

Post by KOJOE90 »

Two tough Middleweight contenders that were around at the same time but there paths never crossed.

But if they had, who would be left standing when the dust settled?

Frank's Mom would have been standing and screaming for the whole fight and the aftermath whatever the outcome. I'll have to think about the fight itself...it's a tougher call.

Much as I like Tony I think I'd have to go for Frank... at his short peak he made every fight a war and seemed to get stronger as the fights went on... Sibbo was the better all round boxer but I can just see him being roughed up and worn down... hell of a fight though.... I think Fletcher was lined up to fight Mark Kaylor at the latter stage of his career but got injured or something and was replaced by Buster Drayton... which tutrned out to be a bad break for Mark!... :x :x :x

The Animals downfall ended up being his lack of defense. He had a good run for a short period but I think that fighters started to catch on to his style and were able to make adjustments. If Sibson prepared for this fight properly and sat down and looked at some film of The Animal I think he knocks him out, reguardless what stage of The Animals career he was in.

I agree, a peak Sibson would have crashed through Fletchers leaky defence with his booming left hook.

If Dwight Davison couldnt hurt Tony, nor could Fletcher

Sibbo in 6 in a wild brawl.

Quite a few of Fletcher's fights were televised live here in the 80's. He was a flash in the pan. Sibson who beat way better competition would have destroyed him. Sibson KO in 6.

Sibbo for me, similar to the way Roldan handled Fletcher, with maybe a little more finesse.

Sibbo was one in quite a long line of middles who would not have disgraced themselves as world champ ...were it not for that force of nature Marv !

Sibbo wins, too much skill and power for Fletcher. Fletcher knows only one way to fight and that going forward, and you didn't want to trade with Sibson.

A better fight would be Kaylor vs Fletcher, which someone said above should of happened in 1984. I think Kaylor wins by late stoppage, would of been the fight of the year.
