Josh Padley v Royston Barney-Smith
Josh Padley v Royston Barney-Smith
After Barney-Smiths coming of age fight last night, coupled with beating Bellotti easier than Padley did, how would you see this fight going?

rbs did beat belloti easier, but i think it tends to flatter when a fighter does that after the other fighter already beat them and the common opponent is in a losing slide
that said, rbs looks very talented. he hasnt had his intangibles testest, and padley boxed at much more consistemtly high level and is a tough dude. hes proved the chamberlain win wasnt a one off by adding a couple more good wins (albeit he didnt look so hot in squeaking the last). it wouldnt surprise me if rbs started hot and then padley came into it and put him thriygh it. that said id favour rbs to have enough ability to stay out of trouble enough to win on points

Good assessment & similar to what I think.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026, 22:39 it wouldnt surprise me if rbs started hot and then padley came into it and put him thriygh it. that said id favour rbs to have enough ability to stay out of trouble enough to win on points
130 has never been a strong division for UK fighters, for some reason. It's usually a stop off for older Featherweights.
It's nice that we have 3 decent fighters in their prime (or almost prime in RBS case). Add in that Nick Ball might be moving up & we could have a few decent fights at the weight in the next couple of years

For once I voted draw because it what was I actually thought would happen.
RBS should be a little younger, bigger faster and edge it, but Padley is such a tough-to-beat overachiever.. draw.
Should be intriguing..

I do feel like chamberlain was struggling with the weight and that might have flattered a bit
Re: Josh Padley v Royston Barney-Smith
Struggling with the weight AND getting carried away with the hype. He'd been on a proper roll up til Padley & was Turkish's favourite.
He may well have overlooked the smaller Padley.
