“It’s no secret I got into the ring at the Dubois vs Harper fight in London a few weeks ago, against Chantelle Cameron. Chantelle Cameron just won the belt I had to vacate ‘cause I hold the belt at 147, as well. I had to pick and choose since I have two belts at ‘54 I vacated that, Chantelle fought for it and I got in the ring and said ‘let’s do it.’

“I mean, I’ve always wanted a fight with Chantelle, I always thought that would be a great fight. We have come forward styles so I know it’ll be super entertaining. So while I wait for Lauren Price so I can go undisputed with her and other fights that just don’t seem to be happening — people just don’t seem to want to move as quickly as I do — but I’ve always wanted to fight Chantelle so I think that’s a great fight in the meantime.”

On if she thinks she’ll get a Price fight this year
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. We’ve been trying to negotiate with her and Ben Shalom and all these for so long and we have a whole date — everything was negotiated for her to come out. I was surprised they agreed to send Lauren Price out here to Vegas, it was supposed to happen last July. It was the last fight Top Rank had on ESPN, the last fight Boxxer had on Sky Sports, and so we had the money behind it to do it. And I know what happened, I don’t know if Ben Shalom wasn’t including Lauren Price in negotiations but she decided ‘I’m not doing that.’…Since then we just haven’t been able to come to a deal.”

On the potential for her to fight Claressa Shields
“It’s a very possible fight. I’ve never been hard to make fights with…I’m here for it. The biggest issue right now is her making her way down to 160. S0 when she does that, let’s go.”

On Alycia Baumgardner’s latest performance and wanting a rematch
“I thought she looked really good the first half of the fight, the first four, five rounds…But then she kind of fell off. She was really good in moments but I don’t necessarily think Alycia Baumgardner is a three-minute round fighter, and that’s okay. I just don’t necessarily think that she is.

“It’s one of the reasons why I go back and forth with the three-minute rounds because this young generation, I don’t know if they have the attention span for that long of a fight. Now you can say she adjusted, but it didn’t really feel like an adjustment based on strategy, it felt like an adjustment based on fatigue.

“Of course I want a rematch. Listen, she talks about wanting the biggest fights, so do I. She talks about wanting to be in super fights, of course we all want to be in these super fights. So I’m confused as to why you’re leaving this super fight, between her and I, this rematch [on the table]. If that’s really what she wants then hi, I’m right here.”

Mikaela Mayer, Chantelle Cameron to face off in title unifier

Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron will meet in a junior middleweight championship unification showdown that will headline MVPW-06 on Aug. 29 at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, England, Most Valuable Promotions announced Wednesday.

The 10-round unification fight will top a main card featuring U.S. vs. U.K. fights, including a co-main event that sees unified lightweight champion Caroline Dubois put her titles on the line against Amelia Moore.

"MVPW-06 UK vs. USA delivers one of the most important fights that can be made in boxing. A pound-for-pound matchup of this magnitude is nearly impossible to make; two of the world's top ten fighters meeting in their prime," Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, cofounders of Most Valuable Promotions, said in a statement. "Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron have consistently sought out the toughest challenges available, and this fight is no different."

Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs), ESPN's No. 5-ranked pound-for-pound women's boxer, moved up two weight classes to beat Michaela Kotaskova for the vacant WBO junior middleweight championship in April. She remains the only fighter to have defeated Katie Taylor, accomplishing the feat in May 2023 but dropping a decision in a rematch later that year.

The Northampton fighter hoped to have a rubber match with Taylor, but when that didn't materialize, she moved up to junior welterweight to become a two-division world champion.

"I am over the moon this fight has been made. I asked MVP for this fight and they have delivered," Cameron said in a statement. "I've always said I want the biggest fights in women's boxing, and there isn't a bigger fight right now than me against Mikaela Mayer. We're both top five pound-for-pound fighters, we're both world champions, and we're both coming to win."

Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs), ranked No. 7 on ESPN's pound-for-pound list, is the reigning WBO welterweight champion who captured the WBA and WBC junior middleweight titles in October with a unanimous decision over Mary Spencer. Mayer also held the IBF and WBO junior lightweight titles.

She signed with MVP in March and showed up in London at Cameron's win over Kotaskova to stake her claim for a unification fight. After some haggling over weight class, the two sides agreed to the fight being contested at junior middleweight.

"Chantelle Cameron has always been a name I've hoped to add to my résumé and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves," Mayer said. Dubois (13-0-1, 5 KOs) will return to the ring four months after turning back Terri Harper at MVPW's inaugural fight card in London. Ranked No. 10 on ESPN's pound-for-pound list, Dubois had been campaigning for a showdown with unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner but was unable to secure the fight. Instead, she will turn to Moore (4-0, 1 KO) for her next title defense.

Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron will put their super welterweight world titles on the line for a high-stakes unification clash in the UK this August, live on Sky Sports.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have confirmed that Mayer vs Cameron will headline MVPW-06 at the bp pulse LIVE arena in Birmingham on August 29, where every fight on the main card will see a UK vs USA contest.

The UK's WBO super welterweight world champion Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) faces the USA's unified WBA and WBC super welterweight world champion Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs), with all three world titles on up for grabs in the 10-round contest.

Cameron won the WBO super welterweight title with a dominant performance over Michaela Kotaskova in April, a belt Mayer had won then vacated just months prior, and Mayer now looks to reclaim it alongside her WBA and WBC hardware.

"I am over the moon this fight has been made," Cameron said. "I've always said I want the biggest fights in women's boxing, and there isn't a bigger fight right now than me against Mikaela Mayer."

The intriguing battle between two world champions will be both fighters' first defences at 154lbs and contested over 10 two-minute rounds, while the main card will be composed entirely of female fighters.

Mayer added: "Cameron has always been a name I've hoped to add to my resume and a fight I feel the sport of boxing deserves. With our come forward, aggressive styles, I have no doubt that it will be one of the most exciting fights of our generation."

The co-main event will see the UK's unified WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois face a 10-round unified championship defence against American Amelia Moore, contested at 135lbs with two-minute rounds.

Third time lucky for Mayer in England?

Mayer's only two previous professional defeats have come on UK soil, with a controversial split-decision loss to Alycia Baumgardner in London in 2022 and a split-decision loss to Natasha Jonas in Liverpool in January 2024.

A Jonas rematch did not happen but Mayer seized her second opportunity to become a two-weight world champion later that year, defeating WBO welterweight world champion Sandy Ryan in a Fight of the Year contender.

Mayer beat Ryan in the rematch before conquering a third weight class in her last fight in October, dominating Canadian star Mary Spencer over 10 rounds in Montreal to capture the WBA, WBC and WBO junior middleweight titles.

"I know I haven't had always the best luck over there in the UK, but I've always said that hasn't deterred me from coming back there," Mayer exclusively told Sky Sports.

In chief support, Caroline Dubois is set to defend her lightweight titles against Amelia Moore which is keeping in theme with the event; every bout on the card, promoted by MVP, will be UK vs. US.

Cameron, 22-1 (8 KOs), won the WBO 154lbs title in April. It’s a belt that Mayer, who holds the WBC and WBC straps, had given up only months before. Both now get the chance to wear three titles simultaneously following their 10-round bout.

Moore, however, is eyeing the upset ov er the WBC and WBO lightweight champion.

I respect Caroline and the path she’s taken to become world champion. “That’s what makes this opportunity so meaningful. When the best are willing to face the best, everybody wins.”

Chantelle Cameron has been chasing Mikaela Mayer since the amateurs

Chantelle Cameron's professional career is likely defined by her two-fight rivalry with Katie Taylor, where the score sits at 1-1 and Cameron the only blot on the Irish legend's record.

The 35-year-old has otherwise struggled for momentum at times, particularly since leaving Matchroom Boxing following the 2023 rematch loss to Taylor. Before that she could also boast wins over Mary McGee, Melissa Hernandez, Victoria Noelia Bustos and Jessica McCaskill.

Her August 29 battle with Mikaela Mayer, who is royalty in the female code, is likely to see Cameron – who last year signed with MVP after a spell with Queensberry – thrust back into spotlight.

"I'm so excited," Cameron told Sky Sports News. "Our styles are going to gel. Women's boxing needed a fight like this. It's the female fight of the year and, if it wasn't, I'd be really, really shocked.

"I've wanted this fight for a long time. I need names like Mikaela Mayer to get the best out of me and that's what this fight is definitely going to do.

"I'm so excited and glad that MVP have made this fight happen. They knew that I wanted a big name and a big fight, and they've delivered for me. So I'm really grateful.

"One of the first names I gave to them [MVP, when signing] was Mikaela Mayer and, tin my third fight with them, they've delivered."

Cameron has long been on Mayer's trail. The pair were amateurs at the same time, aware of the other, but never crossing paths.

"Me and Mayer know each other from the amateurs but we never boxed in the amateurs," Cameron said. "We have history - I always wanted to box her in the amateurs but our paths never crossed. So it will be like a 360 when we share the ring on August 29.

"She's improved a lot. And we're definitely going to meet in the middle. It's going to be an incredible fight."

Reina Tellez vs. Jessica Barry joins MVP's UK vs. USA card

Reina Tellez vs. Jessica Barry tops an exciting group of fights added to MVP's UK vs. USA on Aug. 29 (live on ESPN+ in the U.S.).

Chantelle Cameron (WBO) and Mikaela Mayer (WBA and WBC) will unify their junior-middleweight championships in the main-event of the MVPW-06 in Birmingham, England.

WBC and WBO lightweight champion Caroline Dubois will fight Amelia Moore in the co-main event, while Terri Harper will meet Miranda Reyes.

MVP have now added a series of additional fights pitting the best U.K. women's boxers against their American counterparts.

Tellez (13-1-1, 5 KOs), a former world title challenger, will face Barry (10-1, 2 KOs). The featherweight contest is Tellez's first since going the distance with Amanda Serrano.

San Antonio featherweight contender Reina Tellez will face Coventry’s Jessica Barry on August 29 in Birmingham, England.

Tellez is 13-1-1 (5 KOs) while Barry’s record is 10-1 (2 KOs) and it represents Tellez’ first outing since her decision defeat to Amanda Serrano in January.

Caroline Dubois splits from trainer Shane McGuigan ahead of lightweight title defence vs Amelia Moore

Caroline Dubois has parted ways with trainer Shane McGuigan before she bids to defend her WBC and WBO lightweight titles against Amelia Moore in Birmingham on August 29, live on Sky Sports.

McGuigan, who has established himself as one of the world's best boxing trainers, began working with Dubois in 2021.

Together, the pair have enjoyed some great success, with McGuigan guiding Dubois to victories over Maira Moneo, Bo Mi Re Shin, and the 25-year-old's title-unifying victory against Terri Harper in April.

In 2023, McGuigan backed Dubois to "capture all of the belts", adding "she is the best lightweight in the world".

"Even though the lightweight division is probably the most highly contested division in female boxing, she's blitzing everybody," he told Sky Sports.

McGuigan also said he expected the 25-year-old to become an undisputed champion across multiple weight classes.

"I genuinely believe she can do it at lightweight, super-lightweight and welterweight. She's still developing. She's getting much better all the time."

Dubois and Moore will fight at 135lbs over 10 two-minute rounds at the bp pulse LIVE Arena, with Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron set to headline the event, which is entirely composed of bouts between UK and USA female fighters.

But the English fighter is "frustrated" by having to defend her titles, rather than unify the belts. She had sought out a fight to challenge IBF lightweight champion Elif Nur Turhan, but was left disappointed when her team's proposals were pushed back.

"From what I hear and from what my promotions are telling me and my team is telling me, they made her [Turhan] an offer and she asked for such an astronomical, ridiculous amount. It was absurd. It was crazy," Dubois said.

"The amount she asked for, it wasn't even a laugh out of the room. It was just so ridiculous.

"She isn't about it. She thinks that she is something that she isn't and I'm really disappointed in her and how she's moving because it's all good to talk online. She asked for the most ridiculous number that, even if I told you, you would think I'm lying.

"So she just isn't about it. She's a joker and what you do with jokers, you just leave them alone. That's retirement money. That's never-fight-again type of money."

Dubois believes the fight with Turhan will happen eventually but is also eyeing up a meeting with WBA lightweight title holder Stephanie Han.

Earlier this year, the British fighter also called out Alycia Baumgardner, saying their much-anticipated bout "has to happen sooner rather than later".

"She's got no opponents," Dubois said. "She wanted the Katie Taylor fight, but that's not happening. She wanted the Amanda Serrano fight, but that's not happening, so who's she going to fight? Absolutely nobody.

"There's no one she can step into the ring with that's on my level. I say that with respect, but I know I'm her biggest challenger."

Two-division world champion Skye Nicolson has signed with Most Valuable Promotions.

The 30-year-old Australian will defend her WBC super-bantamweight title against Japan's Miyo Yoshida in her MVP debut on the Mikaela Mayer vs Chantelle Cameron undercard in Birmingham on August 29, live on Sky Sports.

Nicolson, an Olympian who won Commonwealth Games gold in 2018, is the latest high-profile female boxer to join YouTuber Jake Paul's promotional organisation.

"Women's boxing is entering a new era, and I want to be right at the centre of it," said Nicolson.

"My goal has always been to test myself against the very best and be involved in the biggest fights in women's boxing.

"I truly believe this move puts me in the best possible position to do exactly that. I'm excited for what's ahead and can't wait for this next chapter of my career to unfold."

Nicolson (16-1, 3 KOs) faces three-time, two-division world champion Yoshida (19-5, 1 KO), searching for a fifth successive victory as she takes another step towards unifying the super-bantamweight division.

Caroline Dubois explains why she's switched Shane McGuigan for Manny Robles

Caroline Dubois, who will now be trained in America by Manny Robles, has explained her shock decision to leave long-time coach, Shane McGuigan.

London, England’s Dubois, promoted by MVP, is set to take on Amelia Moore in Birmingham, England, on August 29 when she defends her WBC and WBO lightweight titles.

The 13-0-1 (5 KOs) southpaw joined forces with McGuigan in 2021, the year before she turned professional. The pair enjoyed great success together, most recently beating Terri Harper in April. The 25-year-old, who moves purely to further her education, will now train alongside Andy Ruiz Jnr, Brandon Figueroa, and Oscar Valdez.

"Most times fighters leave a coach when they lost, and they want someone to blame or throw under the bus, that's a lame move," Dubois said.

Mayer wants Price, Shields after two-fight series with Cameron

The three-division champion hopes to face unified welterweight champ Lauren Price and undisputed heavyweight champ Claressa Shields at middleweight before her career concludes. The first two fights of Mayer’s final run figure to be back-to-back junior middleweight title bouts against Chantelle Cameron, who the WBA/WBC 154-pound champ is set to face August 29 in a unification clash at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, England.

Facing Cameron, the WBO champ, will provide the third-ranked Mayer with an opportunity to defeat the No. 5 fighter on The Ring’s pound-for-pound list and a chance to win the unclaimed Ring junior middleweight title.

“Then Lauren Price, so I can finish what I started at 147 before I jump up to 160 and go take on Claressa,” Mayer told The Ring of her plans after facing Cameron twice. “That would be ideal for me, but you never know what happens in boxing. I got to take it one fight at a time.”

Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) has become undisputed champion in three divisions and won consecutive Olympic gold medals for the United States in 2012 in London and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The five-division titleholder from Flint, Michigan, dropped back down to middleweight to face WBA and WBC titleholder Kaye Scott on August 15 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta (DAZN).

Las Vegas’ Mayer, 36, and Shields, 31, were both members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team.

A potential clash with Price (10-0, 2 KOs) could crown a unified champion as well. Wales’ Price owns the IBF, WBA and WBC 147-pound titles and Mayer is the WBO champ. Price, however, could face Shields next in their own middleweight match, assuming the heavily favored Shields defeats Scott.

“I think I’ll be at peace after six more fights,” Mayer said, “assuming I get the fights that I want.”

Mayer beat Mary Spencer (10-4, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision October 30 in Montreal to become a unified 154-pound champion.

The win was Mayer’s third in a row. After losing a split decision to England’s Natasha Jonas (16-3-1, 9 KOs) in January 2024, the Woodland Hills, California, native beat Brit Sandy Ryan (9-3-1, 3 KOs) on points in back-to-back bouts in September 2024 and March 2025 to win and defend the WBO welterweight title.

England’s Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) has won four straight fights since losing her rematch against unified 140-pound titleholder Katie Taylor by majority decision in November 2023. She gave Ireland’s Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) her lone defeat – a majority-decision win to retain her Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO 140-pound titles in May 2023.

Cameron, 35, became a two-division champion in her last fight when she beat Michaela Kotaskova (12-1-2, 4 KOs) by unanimous decision to win the then-vacant WBO 154-pound title April 5 in London.

“I’m fighting someone that I’ve always wanted to fight,” Mayer said. “Me and Chantelle, we’ve been on each other’s hit list for a while. We’re both at the time in our career where we’re where we want to make important fights, and this is important for women’s boxing.”

Mikaela Mayer, Chantelle Cameron promise fireworks, fight of the year

Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron have assured fans their upcoming title bout will be an exciting blend of boxing skills and an all-out firefight.

The pair will clash on the MVPW-06 card in Birmingham, England [ESPN, Sky Sports] on Aug. 29 for the WBC, WBO and WBA junior middleweight titles.

Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs) has said she will not let the fight get close after two close split decision defeats in the UK, to Alycia Baumgardner in 2022 and Natasha Jonas in 2024.

"We can both box because we come from amateur pedigree, but if you look at our pro fights we do tend to come forward and let our hands go. You're definitely going to see that at some point," Mayer told Tuesday's news conference.

"We're getting each other in our prime ... You're getting this fight while we're both still very strong and dominant and there's no way you're not going to get an action-packed fight from us. I'm predicting female fight of the year, 100%.

"I'm just confident in myself. I'm not going to make it close. I'm that confident in my skills right now. It doesn't matter where we are."

Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs), a two-weight world champion and the only fighter to beat Katie Taylor as a professional, said the fight was an easy one to make after the first faced off in April.

She insisted women's boxing can only grow if the best fight the best and she had a message for other fighters.

"I'm a different breed. The tougher my challenge the better I am. I know Mikaela is a tough test and that's going to bring the best out in me," Cameron said.

"It's going to be good. Hopefully for women's boxing, more fights like this happen, the best fight the best. Get the contracts signed, get in the ring and fight each other. Stop talking and get down to action."

Robinson-Thibeault, Mayer-Cameron approved as Ring title fights

This month will see new Ring champions at middle and junior middleweight in the female code.

As was the case earlier this year, Most Valuable Promotions lead the way as MVPW-05 will take centre stage on Saturday at Orlando's Caribe Royale Resort.

Intrigue surrounds how Dina Thorslund (24-0, 9 KOs) could fare in her first 118-pound outing since making three defences of her Ring and unified world titles across an eight-month stretch in 2014.

She's facing an in-form, bullish Cherneka Johnson (19-2, 8 KOs) who makes her first appearance of the year after a monumental 2025 campaign.

In the evening's co-main event, IBF and WBO champion Desley Robinson (12-3, 4 KOs) defends her 160-pound belts against esteemed amateur Tammara Thibeault (4-0, 3 KOs).

The Canadian southpaw, 29, is back at the scene of her professional debut in December 2024, coming a week after the Australian widely outpointed compatriot Kaye Scott to win a vacant IBF strap.

The 12-member panel voted unanimously in favor of a new Ring champion at 160 pounds, given No. 2-rated contender Melinda Watpool (8-1, 3 KOs) has only boxed once at the weight since an unsuccessful super middleweight title tilt.

Scott (5-1-1) defends her unified WBA and WBC titles against five-division champion Claressa Shields on August 15, so there's sure to be movement across the month within the weight class.

The same can be said six pounds lighter at junior middleweight, where two pound-for-pound stars will headline a busy card of championship fights in Birmingham, England on Aug. 29.

WBA and WBC beltholder Mayer (21-2, 5 KOs) is The Ring's No. 3 pound-for-pound boxer, while Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) outpointed Michaela Kotaskova on April 5 to win the WBO strap Mayer vacated in January, after which the pair exchanged pleasantries and faced off in the ring. The 35-year-old sits two places below Mayer at present.

Neither champion is a natural at the weight, though Mayer has outlined her desire to defend championships across two divisions while pursuing a long-awaited Lauren Price undisputed welterweight fight.

They occupy the top two spots at 154 pounds, with IBF champion Oshae Jones (9-0-1, 3 KOs) sitting third after a split draw in her Elia Carranza rematch on June 13.

Injured champ Skye Nicolson out of MVPW-06 card in Birmingham

Skye Nicolson has been forced to withdraw from her scheduled bout with Miyo Yoshida on the MVPW-06 card on Aug. 29 with an injury.

WBC junior featherweight champion Nicolson (16-1, 3 KOs) was set to make her debut with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions in Birmingham, England, on the undercard of Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron's unification bout [ESPN, Sky Sports].

Yoshida (19-5, 1 KO) will not remain on the card, with a fight against Nicolson set to be rescheduled.

Nicolson signed with MVP last month following the announcement of a strategic alliance with Paul's promotion and Matchroom.

"I'd like to sincerely apologise to Miyo Yoshida and her team for this delay," Nicolson said in a statement. "I have nothing but respect for Miyo and I'm looking forward to finally sharing the ring with her before the end of the year.

"The positive news is that while I'm recovering, I'll be heading to Orlando this weekend for the MVPW-05 event, where I'm excited to support my fellow Australian World Champions and many other incredible athletes.

"A new date for my fight with Yoshida will be locked in very soon, and I can't wait to get back in the gym, back to full health, and back doing what I love. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and understanding."

MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said he hoped Nicolson's layoff would not be a long one.

"Skye Nicolson has unfortunately been forced to postpone her MVP debut due to injury, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery," Bidarian said.
