Question: After this weekends results, how are the rankings affected following Fury's friendly stoppage over Wach, Anthony Joshua's comeback KO win over Prenga and Vladyslav Sirenko's last second KTFO win over Wallin?

Keep it easy to read.

If you can put votes as following:

Fury remains/stays at #7
Joshua enters at #15
Sirenko enters at #13

discuss..

Joshua enters at #12, he at least still has his power

Fury down to #13, he looked rather slow against an old, very faded opponent.

Sirenko remains out.

1. Oleksandr Usyk
2. Daniel Dubois
3. Agit Kabayel
4. Tyson Fury
5. Fabio Wardley
6. Joseph Parker
7. Frank Sanchez
8. Murat Gassiev
9. Efe Ajagba
10. Deontay Wilder
11. Anthony Joshua
12. Richard Torrez
13. Richard Riakporhe
14. Moses Itauma
15. Justis Huni

Fury moves up to #4 dropping which drops Wardley to #5. No changes to the rest of the Top 10.

Joshua enters at #11 dropping everyone from #11 thru 15 down one notch, and dropping Hrgovic out of my Top 15.

Obviously the winner Hrgovic/Itauma will be entering the Top 10 in a big way after their upcoming bout. In the meantime, Hrgovic is on the outside looking in on my Top 15.

Sirenko remains out, but I appreciate the upset as it won me some money :OhYes:

Fury looked truly awful*, getting rounds in (and buzzed) against a washed up Wach who Itauma stopped in 2. Ridiculously poor performance, off the back of looking bad in his last fight. BUT I can't put him lower than Wilder, so I'll stick him in a #11 (below Itauma).

Joshua's chin is a major major concern now. But his power is still there. I'll put him at #12 just above Wilder and Verhoeven, who technically has yet to register a win this decade.

Sirenko stays out. Wallin isn't the same guy who had an easy night with Gassiev three years ago

Basically, a bottom order of
10. Itauma (WWWWW)
11. Fury (WLLWW)
12. Joshua (WWLWW)
13. Wilder (WLLWW)
14. Verhoeven (WL)
15. Gassiev (LWWWW)

*Btw, did anyone else notice something off about the footage on Seconds Out? Something up with the speed or framerate. Wach was twitching like a middleweight

Fury having beat one top 50 in the last 4 years is tough for me to grapple with being in 7th.... and i think he was poor vs wach, even if it was sparring...

But honestly the top 15 is just diabolical at the moment,... not even saying our list is wrong, just the division is cooked...

riachpor, gassieve, rico, moses, have never beat a top 30 heavyweight...Parker is banned, wilder and fury are well past it... I cant recall an efe win of note in the last 2 years... Usyk is semi retired, Wardly just copped a beating so bad that if the rematch goes the same it will retire him...

The era is in a slump. Usyk is awesome but getting ready to call it a career.
Fury, Joshua and Wilder are all but washed up.
Quite a few up and coming fighters that we don;t know how good the really are.

Hopefully it gets better. The only division of the original 8 weight limits that is worse at the moment is Middleweight. Which is the worst middleweight era I've ever seen

It's not uncommon for the Heavyweight division to be a mess following the reign of a dominant Champion. The puzzle gets scrambled again, and takes awhile to be reassembled. With various promotional interests all trying to get a slice of the pie.

Yep. TKV's win over Clarke is better than most heavyweights have recently. That's how slim the pickings are the moment due to the lack of competitive fights.

We still have Itauma, Kabayel, Dubois, Wardley, Jalolov, Gassiev, Ajagba, Huni, Teremoana, Opetaia and possibly Benavidez.

We still have a few more years of Parked, Hrgovic, Okolie, Sanchez and possibly Ramirez and CBS.

There might not be an obvious dominant all time great champion in this era but there's definitely enough entertaining fights there if it's all done right. They just need to face each other. I think it could be a competitive era, even if it's not the highest quality one.

And who knows we may have an All Time great somewhere in that bunch. It takes time to prove whether or not you're one of those.

Tyson Fury should be ranked in the top 5 'and Anthony Joshua definitively inside the top 12 at the very least. Those two fighters were 2 out of the 3 premier heavyweight champions over the past decade along with Deontay Wilder. Those feats achieved don't just disappear from their resumes or boxing history'.

Note: Richard Riakporhe and Justis Huni are talented fighters 'but they have not really done much past domestic level'.

So for sure, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua should be ranked above Riakporhe and Huni etc.

The ratings in the first post of this thread seem a bit strange to me, but if most people on the forum agree with them, I’ll keep quiet.

I think no one agrees with the ranking. That’s the point of it.
You get moved by average/median opinion after a match happened. That way the ranking just grew organically over the years.
The problem is, that there isn’t much movement because of low activity and lack of meaningful matches between the ranked boxers.
The ranking isn’t super accurate because of that, but it’s still better than the political rankings the sanctioning bodies put out or most elo based computer rankings, that suffer from the same inactivity issues.

The voting is also inconsistent.

With ESPN, Ring, TBRB, you have a panel that decide movement:

Here one week a certain poster will vote, then won’t vote on the next 2-3 votes. We just have random posters every time.

So do I. I actually remember taking the time to help a website establish a Top 10 for all 17 weight classes once upon a time and my reward was supposedly the experience of learning how to be a Sportswriter.

So it's never really worth the time you put into it. It's just gotta be for the Love of the game.

Realistically, an algorithm would be better than any subjective opinion. It's just a shame that nobody can get a decent one to work. Boxrec has recently focus too hard on using the ratings to predict future matchups rather than focusing on who the boxers have beaten and they also have an issue with way overvaluing boxers moving up divisions. If it was perfect, or any of the other rankings, we wouldn't be having these debates here as much.
