I don't see how you can come up with a believable story which proves without a doubt that it entered his system unintentionally and without his knowledge. They've definitely bent their rules or intentionally believed a story which can't be proved.

Heavyweight Parker cleared to fight after drugs ban

Former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker has been cleared to fight again after his provisional suspension for testing positive for cocaine was lifted.

The 34-year-old New Zealander was tested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada) on 25 October.

On the same day, he was beaten by Britain's Fabio Wardley at London's O2 Arena.

"I'm pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I'll be back in the ring soon," Parker said on Wednesday.

"I've been advised to say no more for now while details are finalised. Thank you to all my supporters."

Parker has denied knowingly taking any banned substances. He had faced the possibility of a ban of up to two years, with any sanction to be determined by UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC).

The BBBoC confirmed to BBC Sport that Parker's provisional suspension has been lifted but said it "cannot make any further comment at this stage".

BBC Sport has also contacted Ukad, which did not oversee the original test and would need to carry out its own investigation.

Parker holds a professional record of 36 wins and four defeats. He was WBO heavyweight champion from 2016 to 2018 before losing the title to Britain's Anthony Joshua in Cardiff.

Maybe he was on so much meth that he simply forgot he’d taken the cocaine. Completely unintentional, of course.

He may have had an offer on the table so I'm sure a promoter giving a little payola makes the whole thing go away.

Joseph Parker 'relieved' after drugs ban was lifted and could target winner of Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley rematch

Joseph Parker denied taking any banned substances after returning traces of cocaine in a Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency test on day of defeat by Fabio Wardley in October; The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed the suspension has been lifted; Parker is set to fight again this year

Joseph Parker is 'relieved' after a ban was lifted for a failed drug test and he will return to the ring this year, says manager David Higgins.

The New Zealander returned traces of cocaine in a Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency test on the day of his defeat by Fabio Wardley in October, but Parker denied taking any banned substances and the British Boxing Board of Control confirmed the suspension has been lifted.

Parker's manager Higgins is planning the next career move for the former WBO world heavyweight champion, who could fight twice before the end of 2026.

"A combination of relieved, excited, and energised," said Higgins when asked about Parker's current mindset.

"Joseph is champing at the bit to get back into the ring. He was up early to go for a run this morning.

"He feels like he is at the peak of his powers and they say a heavyweight only reaches his prime in his thirties. Joseph is only 34 and if you look at the names on his resume, you could call him a veteran but he's still relatively young.

"Joseph has said to me that he would love to fight this year," Higgins added. "It could be a tune-up, then a big fight at the end of the year or it could be a big fight at the end of the year."

Parker has shared the ring with virtually every top heavyweight of his era, including Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz Jr, Derek Chisora, Dillian Whyte, Fabio Wardley, Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang.

That 11th-round stoppage loss inflicted by Wardley stopped Parker's charge towards another world title, but Higgins is 'supremely confident' that the Kiwi can become champion again.

"Joseph is confident. He's done it before; he knows what to do. He's going to have another run at the title and is excited to do so.

"He's a free agent so right now we're looking at all offers. We'll look at anything that makes sense. We'll look at its merit on a risk-and-return basis.

"I'm supremely confident that he can become a world champion again. If you look at history, I think even Lennox Lewis copped a couple of losses and then in his 30s it all came together and he was unbeatable.

"We're not quitters and Joseph is looking forward to this final two or three run in his career."

Parker's old WBO belt lies in the hands of Daniel Dubois, who will defend it against Wardley in a rematch later this year.

A fight against the Dubois vs Wardley 2 winner is an option that excites Parker, who would also welcome a rematch with Dillian Whyte.

"If you recall, Joseph had a world title fight against Dubois scheduled and then he mysteriously pulled out a few days before the fight [through illness]," said Higgins.

"Bakole got slotted in; Joseph knocked out Bakole. But there is absolutely unfinished business there with both.

"Joseph is not afraid to get in the ring with anyone. He also has unfinished business with Dillian Whyte and we'd love that rematch.

"If the deal is right and the terms are right, he would love to make any of those fights happen."

Hell for that matter he could pursue the loser of the Dubois vs Wardley rematch as well.

If Dubois somehow loses the rematch then Parker vs Dubois is still a fresh matchup, and an interesting one. If Wardley loses the rematch, he probably isn't going to want another tough one anytime too soon after that understandably, but the Wardley vs Parker rematch would still be a marketable fight somewhere down the road I'd think. It was pretty entertaining and had a mildly controversial finish.

Parker better go for the most lucrative opportunity next time he fights a big fight though because the chances are high he may not win it.

I'd be happy to watch Parker Vs the loser regardless of the result. I wouldn't mind seeing him against any of the champs if he manages to get a top 10 win to earn the shot as well. Most of the big names that Parker has faced in the past have retired or are nearing retirement so he has a lot of fresh matchups against the younger generation. I wouldn't even be against a rematch against Ruiz.

Limitless options for him for sure. Like you I'd be down to see him fight many people. How many of 'em he can get around to actually fighting depends on his performance of course as it always does in this sport, but he should still have at least 3 or 4 in him surely. Probably more.

UKAD statement reveals heavyweight Joseph Parker has served three-month ban

Long-time heavyweight contender and former WBO champion Joseph Parker has completed a three-month ban following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation.

In a statement released by UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) the big New Zealander is free to continue his career.

On October 26, 2025, a sample taken from Parker following his hard fight with Fabio Wardley at the O2 Arena returned an adverse finding for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), cocaine is listed as a non-specified stimulant and is recognized as “a Substance of Abuse.”

The UKAD statement read: “Athletes who test positive for a Substance of Abuse may receive a reduced three-month ban, if they can establish that they used the substance Out-Of-Competition and in a context unrelated to sport performance.”

Parker was informed of his provisional suspension in November, and in January the fighter responded to the news claiming that the adverse finding was a result of contamination and he asked UKAD for time to collect evidence to support his assertions.

In February, UKAD charged Parker for the findings but in March: “Mr Parker provided UKAD with evidence claiming that the AAF [Adverse Analytical Finding] was the result of his exposure to cocaine used by the nutritionist he had employed in preparation for the bout on 25 October 2025. The nutritionist stated that he was a regular user of cocaine and had used cocaine daily in the week leading up to the bout.”
UKAD said they asked for more information from the heavyweight between April and June, and Parker told them he had worked with the same nutritionist since 2023.

On June 15, UKAD heard from an independent expert and believed that: “Mr Parker’s ingestion of cocaine most likely took place Out-of-Competition (i.e. before 11:59pm on 24 October 2025).”

UKAD then determined that any ingestion of cocaine had taken place out-of-competition and therefore “would have been in a context unrelated to sport performance.”

They then lifted Parker’s provisional suspension and proposed a three-month period of ineligibility, which they considered served, by way of punishment.

On July 28, Parker accepted the sanction and while UKAD’s findings saw them disqualify the fighter for the Wardley bout, because Parker was stopped in the 11th round and lost, the British Boxing Board of Control allows the result to stand while acknowledging Parker’s test results. Had Parker won, the outcome would have been changed to a No Contest.

Parker's positive test for cocaine caused by nutritionist

Former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker's nutritionist was the reason traces of cocaine were found in a UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) test on the day of his defeat to Fabio Wardley, according to an investigation conducted by Ukad.

The New Zealander is free to fight again after serving a three-month suspension and has always denied knowingly taking any banned substances.

Parker, 34, was able to gather sufficient evidence to prove his adverse test was the result of his exposure to cocaine used by the nutritionist.

A statement by Ukad stated the nutritionist Parker had employed in preparation for his fight with Wardley was a "regular user of cocaine".

Ukad said: "On 6 March 2026, Mr Parker provided Ukad with evidence claiming that the adverse analytical finding was the result of his exposure to cocaine used by the nutritionist he had employed in preparation for the bout on 25 October 2025.

"The nutritionist stated that he was a regular user of cocaine and had used cocaine daily in the week leading up to the bout."

Parker was tested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada) on 25 October.

On the same day, he was beaten by Briton Wardley at London's O2 Arena.

Parker also failed a UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) test in the early hours of 26 October.

Ukad said it determined in June that Parker's cocaine ingestion had occurred out of competition and therefore was "in a context unrelated to sport performance", therefore lifting his previous suspension.

Parker holds a professional record of 36 wins and four defeats. He was WBO heavyweight champion from 2016 to 2018 before losing the title to Britain's Anthony Joshua in Cardiff.

The heavyweight announced the news of his suspension being lifted on his social media on Wednesday, saying: "I'm pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I'll be back in the ring soon.

"I've been advised to say no more for now while details are finalised. Thank you to all my supporters."

Joseph Parker: Former heavyweight champion claimed failed drug test was caused by cocaine use of nutritionist ahead of Fabio Wardley fight

Former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker claimed a failed drugs test that resulted in him being suspended from boxing was caused by exposure to cocaine being used by his nutritionist, according to UK Anti-Doping (UKAD).

Parker returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, during a routine UKAD test shortly after his surprise defeat to Fabio Wardley in London on October 25 last year.

The New Zealander, who has throughout the saga denied taking any prohibited substance, announced on Wednesday that his suspension, which could have lasted as long as two years, had been lifted and that he would be "back in the ring soon".

On Thursday, UKAD officially confirmed Parker was free to resume his career as details of the case were shared, which included the 34-year-old's explanation for the adverse finding.

A UKAD statement said: "On 6 March 2026, Mr Parker provided UKAD with evidence claiming that the AAF was the result of his exposure to cocaine used by the nutritionist he had employed in preparation for the bout on 25 October 2025.

"The nutritionist stated that he was a regular user of cocaine and had used cocaine daily in the week leading up to the bout.

"Between 14 April 2026 and 3 June 2026, UKAD requested further information from Mr Parker in relation to his explanation for the AAF. Amongst other matters, Mr Parker stated that he had first worked with the same nutritionist in April 2023."

UKAD explained that a decision had been made to impose a three-month period of ineligibility, which it already considers served, because an independent scientific expert was satisfied that any ingestion of cocaine had occurred out of competition, and therefore in a context unrelated to sporting performance.

The statement said: "On 15 June 2026, UKAD received an independent scientific expert opinion from its instructed expert, which concluded that Mr Parker's ingestion of cocaine most likely took place out of competition (i.e. before 11:59pm on 24 October 2025).

"On 22 June 2026, UKAD confirmed to Mr Parker that in light of the opinion from its expert, it was satisfied that any ingestion of cocaine occurred out of competition and for that reason would have been in a context unrelated to sport performance.

"Consequently, UKAD lifted Mr Parker's Provisional Suspension on that date (allowing him to resume his participation in sport with immediate effect) and proposed a three-month period of Ineligibility (deemed served) by way of sanction for his Anti-Doping Rule Violation."

The scientific expert believed it possible that Parker's administration of cocaine "may have occurred" from contamination, but also said they could not exclude the possibility the finding had arisen "as the tail end of the administration of a larger pharmacologically active dose of cocaine."

With the UKAD report, the scientific expert said: "It is also my opinion that Mr Parker's administration of cocaine may have occurred orally from food contaminated with cocaine by his sports nutritionist who has admitted being a user of cocaine giving rise to the finding of benzoylecgonine in Mr Parker's urine Samples.

"I cannot exclude the possibility that the finding of benzoylecgonine has arisen as the tail end of the administration of a larger pharmacologically active dose of cocaine."

The result of Parker's bout against Wardley, which was an 11th-round stoppage victory for the Brit, becomes a defeat by disqualification, rather than knockout.

Parker lost his world title to Anthony Joshua in 2018, but went into his fight against Wardley in arguably the best form of his career.

After a punishing loss to Joe Joyce in 2022, Parker won his next six contests prior, picking up statement wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, as well as winning the WBO Interim strap.

He was due to challenge then-IBF belt-holder Daniel Dubois in February, only for Dubois to fall ill just days before the fight was meant to take place.

Parker put his position as the WBO mandatory challenger to undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk on the line by taking the fight against Wardley, but it was a gamble that backfired.

Got his mate to take the fall for him in a way that cannot be proved. Who'd have thought it. What's the point in them even doing the tests. A 3 month ban as well? Who at that level is having s fight 3 months later anyway.

Yeh. And he’s probably still been training no doubt as well. Who’s to even say he’d have fought by now if he wasn’t suspended

To be fair I don’t know the test sensitivity. If someone that handles your food touched cocain that probably could show up on certain tests.

Do I believe it? Fvck no… but it’s possible.

Either way for traces of coke you shouldent be banned, it’s not performance enhancing. (Unless it’s like a notable fight day does and even then I don’t think it actualy helps)

Everyone loves Parker, but to be clear, he was a young pro and WBO champion. He is past his prime now and , like Joe Joyce, is at the point where the high level beatings are going to take their toll. It doesn't really matter for someone like Chisora, but we can all hear how Parker speaks now. It's time to retire.

I don't think I've heard him speak in multiple years actually. Is there some video that shows a discernible difference in his speech pattern?
