Why Doesn't the UK Stop the Boats?

Post by Ricky »

"A small boat has crossed the English Channel carrying 230 people, the largest number to make the journey in a single vessel.

It breaks the previous record set in July, when 165 people made the crossing on a single vessel.

The boat arrived in the UK in the early hours of Monday."

I wander if there are a few more screwdriver killers, jihadists or child rapists on that big banana boat? Coming to a town near you.

I guess you would need a permanent 500 men to be stationed there to cope with those sorts of numbers.

Then is they all claim asylum, they would then need to be processed

Lol that's quite funny post Roy, it's all fun and games until some Somalian rapes an innocent girl or turns a hotel workers head into swiss cheese with a blunt screwdriver.

Yes, overall migrant boat crossings and arrivals in the UK are significantly down. Provisional figures from the UK Home Office indicate that the total number of people making the crossing so far is down by 43% compared to the same period last year, while the number of successfully crossing boats is down by 49%. Furthermore, authorities state that "unintercepted" beach landings have effectively ended due to advanced surveillance operations over the English Channel. [1, 2]

Key Statistics on the Decline

Total Crossings: Down 43% year-to-date, with provisional arrivals hovering around 15,242.

Successful Boats: The total number of vessels making it across has decreased by roughly 49%.

July Drop: Last month marked the lowest number of migrant crossings for any July since 2020.

Broader European Trend: This drop mirrors a wider 37% decline in irregular migrant entries across the European Union during the first half of the year. [1, 2]

Counter-Trends and Smuggler Tactics

While the total number of crossings has sharply fallen, human traffickers are pivoting to more dangerous methods to sustain their operations: [1]

"Mega-Dinghies": Smuggling gangs are packing unprecedented numbers of people into individual, oversized rubber vessels.

Record Single-Boat Crowding: A new record was set when a massive 13-meter dinghy reached Dover packed with 232 people on a single boat.

Rising Boat Averages: The average number of migrants per boat has skyrocketed over the years from just 7 people in 2018 to over 60 people per boat recently. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why are the numbers down?

Government officials attribute the reduction to tightened policing, sophisticated surveillance drones, and targeted enforcement. Joint operations with French authorities have disrupted supply chains, resulting in the seizure of over 1,100 small boats and engines. Additionally, increased funding to French beach patrols has successfully stopped tens of thousands of attempted crossings before they ever leave the French coast. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

I'm not sure what's upset you? An on subject post that supports what you want; a reduction in illegal immigrant crossings whilst also highlighting the change of tactic to mega-dighies as mentioned in your original post.

When something is down by 43% that's called a reduction.
It's taken from the UK Home Office website so it must be them who are trolling?
I guess when you have no actual comeback of value it's time to resort to the insults and vulgarity.

Mods, can you please have a word with the UK Home Office? They're upsetting Ricky with their trolling of a reduction in the number of illegal immigrants crossing the channel. :TU:

It's a shame that Somalians land here illegally and stab British citizens to death in the head with screwdrivers, I really hope that doesn't happen to anyone in your family.

I think you'd be very sad if it did, you'd be crying lots of sad tears.

Of course, it would be sad and terrible to happen to anyone, i'm sure you'd agree with that. I don't want any dangerous illegals here anymore than you do and i've never stated otherwise.

Not sure why you're stating that and continuing to still be upset when all i've done is post evidence that there's been a reduction in numbers getting here. If it continues to be reduced then there might not be any getting over at some point, which I believe is the whole point of your original post.
