I said it then and I'll say it now, there's no way Eubank-Brook happens on DAZN.johnmanchester wrote: ↑10 Aug 2026, 10:10 I posted here ages ago that Eubank Brook was the warmed up leftovers they were working on
Absolutely nonsense fight, desperate stuff
This is the 'big ppv" for DAZN

Re: Chris Eubank Jr. - What's next?
Not so much a crossroads fight as a road closed fight
I don’t think either man, even in their primes, grabbed the attention of the casuals enough to justify a PPV fight. Junior was only fleetingly PPV due to Senior’s rivalry with Nigel and Brook probably only entered the wider sporting public’s consciousness for the GGG fight and the Khan fight.
Two totally shot retired fighters who were never big stars surely won’t sell.

Chris Eubank Jr's fights against Conor Benn (twice), Liam Smith (twice), George Groves, James DeGale, Arthur Abraham and Renold Quinlan were all PPV's.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑10 Aug 2026, 19:06Not so much a crossroads fight as a road closed fight

Kell Brook's bouts against GGG, Errol Spence Jr., Amir Khan, Frankie Gavin and Michael Jennings were also PPV's (though the Jenning's bout was commercially the worst UK PPV in boxing history). Also, the Crawford fight would have been a PPV if it hadn’t been staged during the pandemic.
Would a main event fight between Brook-Eubank Jr. be considered a much worse (commercially) headline PPV bout than others, such as Sheeraz-Berlanga or Itauma-Whyte?
For the record, I'm not disagreeing with you about Brook and Eubank Jr. being shot fighters, but I do think the media would probably find it quite easy to sell this bout to mainstream casuals.

wELL REALISTICLY can you blame two over the hill , well past there use by date , shot fighters , for having one , two or even 4 --5 last go's at rolling the dice and earning another big payday , Course not , its happenning all the time , and if they can get away with it well good on them .
So end result if your stupid enough to pay out your hard earned , on tickets or PPV why should'nt they accept the cash , but it is the roll of a dice someone has to front up the cash to doi this fights and similar fights so on the other hand if they lose money because there trying to sell a substandard product they can't complain .
Myself would i watch it , probably , would i pay out money , in any way shape or form , would i buggery

Brook v Eubank Jr
My first reaction to hearing about it was a positive one.
Yeah we know who they are, and where they are in their careers at this point, it is what it is.
Will it be entertaining and who will win are the initial questions that spring to mind.
What has Kell got left ?
In my opinion he's a respected boxer, but he's getting on isn't he.
Off the top of my head, it has the potential to be an entertaining bout, so why not.

Will I pay for it? No
Will i watch it? Yh
You know what you’re getting… I won’t buy into any pre-fight hype or beef. They just wanna get paid. and that’s fine.

The bar for what constitutes a PPV fight is now set so low that it renders the concept meaningless. DAZN's virtual monopoly and their pricing structure has accelerated the race to the bottom. This year you get a minimum of 12 PPVs for £250 or whatever they charge, next year they'll guarantee you 20 PPVs with a commensurate price increase.
Boxing is now heading towards being a two tier sport. Tier one is the actual sport with hungry young / in their prime fighters trying to climb the ladder and win belts. Tier two is a "legends" tour akin to those in golf and tennis where old has beens fleece the public by staging irrelevant fights to line their pockets even further.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr. - What's next?
I agree. Even though the PPV funding model works, because it makes money, it is a very short-sighted approach. However, it will harm the sport in the long-term by making it increasingly niche.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑11 Aug 2026, 13:39I agree with much of that.Eolaithe wrote: ↑10 Aug 2026, 19:57Chris Eubank Jr's fights against Conor Benn (twice), Liam Smith (twice), George Groves, James DeGale, Arthur Abraham and Renold Quinlan were all PPV's.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑10 Aug 2026, 19:06
