Does Julio Diaz winning against Jesus Chavez and Charles Martin winning the IBF Heavyweight Title against Vyacheslav Glazkov on their opponents suffering an injury to their Knee mid bout count as a "Freak" knockout.

It's a pretty unlikely way to win a bout.

First one that comes to mind is George Chuvalo's KO of Jerry Quarry at MSG on Dec. 12, 1969. Far behind on on two of the three scorecards and with one eye swollen shut, George landed a desperation left hook to the top of Quarry's head in the dying seconds of round 7 that dropped him. Quarry got to his knees but failed to rise before referee Zach Clayton counted him out. Jerry protested vehemently, and after the chaos subsided said he "couldn't tell what number Clayton was counting." Chuvalo's response was classic: "If Jerry can't tell 9 from 10, it must've been a pretty good shot."

Didn't Mickey Bey's corner tell him he needed the round too or something idiotic like that? I saw this fight when it aired, but I hadn't seen it since. Bey had fully controlled the first 9 rounds. It had been dull as hell up until the 10th round.

Another one that kinda reminds me of that is Rafael Marquez vs Tim Austin. Tim Austin is winning the fight clear, it's been boring and tedious,and then all of the sudden all at once in Round 8 a war kicks off, and it's one of the most awesome rounds of action you'll ever see, and the fight is soon over.

Andy Lee had two in a row vs John Jackson and Matvey Korobov. Although I'm not sure they count as freak punches, since the plan in both cases seemed to be to wait out an opportunity for the right hook.

Remember watching that one as a kid. Holmes was rolling along when Snipes nailed out of the blue. Holmes survived and took control again later. The fight should not have been stopped later, but Snipes wasn't going to win anyway.

Tate-Weaver was unbelievable. Tate looked good and was way ahead. He was going to fight Holmes for a unification showdown. Then it happened in the 15th round.
