Craig Richards-'Hot Rod' Kalajdzic added to Johnny Fisher Zuffa Boxing bill

Light heavyweight contenders Craig Richards and Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic will clash in London on September 26.

They’ve been added to the Zuffa Boxing bill that will feature heavyweight contender Johnny Fisher, while an attractive middleweight clash between Lee Cutler and Louis Greene, over 10 rounds, has been added to the bill.

An opponent for Fisher for the show, at the Copper Box Arena, will be announced in the coming days.

Richards, trained by Tony Sims, is 20-4-1 (13 KOs), and went the distance with Dmitriy Bivol in a 2021 championship effort.

Serbian-born Kalajdzic is 30-3 (22 KOs) and climbed off the deck twice to defeat former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk in February.

Cutler is 16-2 (8 KOs) while Greene is 19-4 (12 KOs) and welterweight prospect

Alex MacMillan, light heavyweight Leon Hughes and Team GB amateur standout Kayla Allen will all be on the bill.

Craig Richards is set to compete next month in a light heavyweight fight.

A scheduled September 26 Zuffa Boxing 11 card at the Copper Box Arena has just bolstered its bill by adding two fights — Craig Richards vs Radivoje Kalajdzic and Lee Cutler vs Louis Greene — to the card headlined by Johnny Fisher.

Specifically, the Richards (20-4-1, 13 KOs) vs Kalajdzic (30-3, 22 KOs) light heavyweight fight will serve as the main support to the headlining matchup, with Richards saying he’s still looking to push towards a world title opportunity as he told Sky Sports.

”It’s a very exciting fight. Everyone knows Kalajdzic can punch, I can punch, we’ve both been two fighters who haven’t shied away from competition,” Richards said. “We’ve been in with everyone, we’ve mixed it, we both probably want to push on now towards that world title and I feel like it’s a great opportunity.”

Richards is most recently coming off of a stoppage win over Dan Azeez last December while Kalajdzic stopped Oleksandr Gvozdyk back in February.

Cutler last took a scored a TKO win over Aaron Sutton in June while Greene just took a points win over Daniel Buciuc in a six-round matchup just last weekend.

Craig Richards and Radivoje Kalajdzic will clash in a light heavyweight contest in the co-feature of Zuffa Boxing 11, which Johnny Fisher will headline.

The clash will take place over 10 rounds at Copper Box Arena in London on September 26.

The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and Ireland and will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States and Canada.

"Spider" Richards (20-4-1, 13 KOs) last fought in December, knocking out South London rival Dan Azeez in the final round of their bout in Ghana.

"Hot Rod" Kalajdzic (30-3, 22 KOs) was last in action on Zuffa Boxing 02 in February, stopping Oleksandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk in the seventh round of their 175-pound bout.

Also on the September 26 card is a middleweight showdown between Louis Greene and Lee Cutler.

Other Zuffa prospects, including Alex MacMillan and Leon Hughes, will also appear on the bill in East London, while Team GB star Kayla Allen will make her debut in a six rounder.

An opponent for Fisher, who has headlined at Copper Box twice before, will be announced in the coming days.

Richards believes Kalajdzic win can trigger late career charge

Craig Richards believes that a win over Radivoje Kalajdzic can be the catalyst for a late-career charge into light heavyweight title contention.

Their 175-pound contest over 10 rounds will take place at London's Copperbox Arena on September 26 as the Zuffa Boxing 11 chief support attraction. The event will be broadcast on Sky Sports.

In February, Kalajdzic (30-3, 22 KOs) made a thrilling promotional debut when dragging himself up off the canvas twice to score a seventh-round stoppage of former WBC beltholder Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

Now Richards gets the opportunity to make a big impression with his new promoters.

The attractive fight came out of the blue but Richards (20-4-1, 13 KOs) told Sky Sports' Toe2Toe podcast that a clash with the hard hitting 35-year-old contender was actually first discussed almost four years ago.

“When I had a two-year layoff with an injury, I actually got asked for him to be my comeback fight,” Richards said.

“In the end they got someone else in but I didn't think he was just a comeback tick-over fight anyway. I think the fight's now getting the credit it deserves, he's a good name and been in with everyone. I feel the same, so we're in for a fun fight.”

Richards has enjoyed a solid career but never quite been able to take the final step and really break through into the big time.

In May 2021 he boxed well and came within a round or two of upsetting an under-par Dmitry Bivol but eventually lost a unanimous decision for the Russian's WBA crown.

The following May he was matched with south London rival Joshua Buatsi. After a slow start, he built momentum as the fight went on and lost a hard-fought, high quality world title eliminator by a close unanimous decision.

In June 2024, a disappointing points defeat to Willy Hutchinson on the high-profile Queensberry vs. Matchroom "5 vs. 5" card looked like it might spell the end of his time at the top table but, to Richards’ credit, he picked himself up, dusted himself down and notched up a pair of career-saving stoppages over Padraig McCrory and Dan Azeez.

He now gets an opportunity to score the biggest win of his career. Now 36, Richards is sure that provided he beats Kalajdzic, there's still time to achieve his goals.

“Well, it's funny because people mention, 'He's 36 now' but you look at the light heavyweight division and Callum Smith is older than me. Bivol is older than me. Beterbiev and Gvozdyk are way older than me,” Richards said.

“All the guys at the top of my division are years older than me so, we talk about that, but when you look at the competition around me, if they're not older than me they're my age or a year below me.”

Johnny Fisher to fight Michael Pirotton in Zuffa debut Sept. 26

Heavyweight Johnny Fisher will make his Zuffa Boxing debut against Belgium’s Michael Pirotton on September 26, it was announced Wednesday.

Fisher (14-1, 12 KOs) will face Pirotton (12-2, 6 KOs) at Copper Box Arena live on Sky Sports in what will be his third headline fight at the east London venue.

“The Romford Bull” signed for Zuffa last month and was immediately earmarked to headline Zuffa Boxing 11 in a 10-round clash against an unconfirmed opponent.

But now a deal has been reached for the 27-year-old to face Liege native Pirotton, who has never been dropped over the course of his seven-year, 14-fight career.

This will also be Pirotton’s first outing in England after spending the majority of his career in Belgium and the US. He was also part of the WBC’s Grand Prix of Boxing, where he lost on points in the round of 32.

Fisher, meanwhile, will be looking to make a statement in the first fight of his new deal, which comes nine months after his most recent fight, when he stopped the overmatched Ivan Balaz in four.

Before that, Fisher suffered the first defeat of his career when he was stopped by Dave Allen in the fifth round of their clash at the Copper Box, five months after he had controversially beaten the White Rhino via split decision in Riyadh.

On September 26, Fisher returns to the Copper Box for the first time since that crushing defeat. He said: "I can't wait to be back at the Copper Bosh on September 26 and bring another huge night of boxing to London.

“Bull Army, get ready. because it's going to be a fantastic show. Pirotton is an experienced, powerful heavyweight who can't be taken lightly."

Pirotton, whose last outing was a third-round stoppage of Jiovani Sheik on August 2, said: "I have been working towards an opportunity like this my entire career, and the time has come. I know it’s going to be a massive crowd of Johnny Fisher fans, but I’ll be ready. Respect to Johnny and the Romford Bull Army, but he’s in for a tough night.

I guess the 'Romford Army' is still numerous enough to ensure good ticket sales. As to the boxing fan…. Not much except maybe the 'rebuilding of exciting, big punching and hugely popular ticket seller the Romford bull' (read in Adam Smith voice….)

zuffa had been matching very competitively, so i was hopeful it would be a better opponent than this. although fish was badly hurt by some rando hungarian (who had 0 finishing instict), so even lower level opponents could spring something on him. is he kind of like a lower level david price
