Briton Hennessy in talks for undisputed title fight

Francesca Hennessy is in talks to fight undisputed bantamweight world champion Dina Thorslund in the United Kingdom later this year, BBC Sport understands.

Promotional outfit Boxxer has offered Danish fighter Thorslund close to $250,000 (£183,000) to face 21-year-old Hennessy in the UK in November or December.

Hennessy, the number one ranked challenger with the WBC, would become the youngest undisputed world champion in four-belt history if she defeats Thorslund.

"I can confirm we have made Dina Thorslund an offer that we believe represents the highest payday of her career to come to the UK and face Francesca Hennessy," her promoter Ben Shalom told BBC Sport.

"Fran is one of the most exciting young fighters in the sport and has the opportunity to make history by becoming the youngest-ever undisputed world champion. This would be a huge fight, and we're very keen to make it happen."

Thorslund's manager, Lee Eaton, confirmed to BBC Sport they are in talks with Hennessy's representatives.

"Boxxer knows what gets the fight made. Let's see if they can come up with the money and broadcaster deal," he added.

Hennessy, who turns 22 on 20 October, stopped Aurora de Persio in May for her second stoppage win in nine bouts.

She would surpass undisputed flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora's record of 22 years and 218 days were she to win.

Thorslund, 32, dethroned Cherneka Johnson in August to claim the WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF titles.

Just over a year earlier, Thorslund relinquished her WBC and WBO titles after becoming pregnant.

BBC Sport has also contacted Thorslund's promoters, Most Valuable Promotions, for comment.

A lot of money to gamble as a clear underdog here. You'd think Thorsland would be silly not to accept given they're both pretty unknown to the masses. Can even put in a rematch clause if she loses, a fight which would make more money than this one.

Thorslund is a solid, all-around boxer, and I think Hennessy would be in over her head in this one.
