Poor Tete. Remember that first pinch KO he had.
Saffa is a dodgy place. Certainly not defending apartheid by any means, but the place just gets worse decade after decade

Poor bloke.
I used to work with a lot of South Africans on cruise ships & they mainly seemed like a decent bunch. The country is wild though...

He was with a 27 year old female. Don’t know if she died.
Both were shot at.

If you think south africa with austerity and places with poverty (similar to the vast majority of countries that also have a history of guns) is worse than an apartheid country with racial segregation and a police state that regularly attacked neighbouring countries and traded military intelligence with Israel.........you have probably been kicked in the head by a horse.forcefraser wrote: ↑22 Aug 2026, 05:31 Poor Tete. Regardless of the governance in SA that is very sad news. My training partner Rudie is from SA and will never go back he said it’s horrific.

Who's talking about austerity and poverty?londonwar wrote: ↑22 Aug 2026, 13:29If you think south africa with austerity and places with poverty (similar to the vast majority of countries that also have a history of guns) is worse than an apartheid country with racial segregation and a police state that regularly attacked neighbouring countries and traded military intelligence with Israel.........you have probably been kicked in the head by a horse.forcefraser wrote: ↑22 Aug 2026, 05:31 Poor Tete. There is poverty many places but people there don't necessarily act like animals
Have you lived there? I have.,
Capetown has a murder rate out of control, rapes and sexual assaults are at insane levels. It's not isolated there either
It goes way beyond poverty.
The place needs ripping down and starting from scratch
Re: Zolani Tete murdered
Let's be clear. Obviously you're not saying all people of a certain colour are animals.
We just need to be clear on that.
I'm sure you are a thoroughly decent chap, we just have to be careful because ,as you know, there is a certain element who respond to whistles whenever anybody mentions South Africa.
And you're definitely not one of those are you?
It goes without saying that life for the overwhelming majority of humans in South Africa was worse under Apartheid. But you know this because you lived there, didn't you?

I’m not sure this is panning out to be a respectful thread about a murder victim. I’d park the politics.

Not sure what’s relevant about trading military intelligence with a first world democracy like Israel ?londonwar wrote: ↑22 Aug 2026, 13:29If you think south africa with austerity and places with poverty (similar to the vast majority of countries that also have a history of guns) is worse than an apartheid country with racial segregation and a police state that regularly attacked neighbouring countries and traded military intelligence with Israel.........you have probably been kicked in the head by a horse.forcefraser wrote: ↑22 Aug 2026, 05:31 Poor Tete. Four suspects arrested in Zolani Tete murder case
Police in South Africa have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of former world boxing champion Zolani Tete, who was fatally shot in NU 17, Mdantsane, on Friday, 21 August 2026.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said two additional suspects were arrested on Sunday, bringing the total number of people in custody to four. The first arrest was made on Saturday, 22 August, at KuGompo City, while three more suspects were arrested on Sunday — one in Mdantsane and two in Scenery Park. The suspects arrested on Sunday are aged 27, 27 and 28.
SAPS also corrected the age of one of the suspects arrested on Sunday, saying the suspect is 27, not 22 as previously reported.
The 22‑year‑old suspect arrested on Saturday has been formally charged with murder and attempted murder and is expected to appear before the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 August. The attempted murder charge relates to a 27‑year‑old female passenger who was wounded during the shooting and remains hospitalised. The other three suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, a 30‑year‑old man who was initially apprehended on Saturday has been released and is now being treated as a potential witness.
Police said more arrests could follow as detectives continue to pursue leads. “Due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation, the SAPS is unable to disclose further details at this time,” the police said.
SAPS warned the public and media against speculation and circulating unverified information, saying this could compromise the investigation and the integrity of court proceedings. The service commended the investigating team for what it described as diligent and swift action.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses. This case contributes to wider discussions around violent crime investigations and community safety.

Let’s hope they get convicted and sentenced (if guilty) to very long sentences. Thoughts with Tete’s family.

This is horrible. I'm hoping the girl he was with makes a recovery too.
