Shannon Briggs, 54, claims he's in negotiations with Tommy Fury
Shannon Briggs, 54, has claimed he’s in negotiations to take on Tommy Fury, 27.
The former WBO heavyweight titlist hasn’t fought since 2016 and is 16 years removed from the one-sided loss to Vitali Klitschko that left “The Cannon” hospitalized.
Briggs, 60-6-1 (53 KOs), turned professional in 1992, contentiously outpointed George Foreman in 1997, was stopped in five wild rounds by Lennox Lewis in 1998 and, in 2006, halted Serhei Liakhovich to win the WBO belt.
Briggs, like so many before him, has never quite being able to say goodbye to the sport, however.
Tommy Fury, the brother of Tyson Fury has most recently been plying his trade on the Misfits circuit but is perhaps best known for squeaking past Jake Paul over eight rounds in 2023.
"I just got off the phone negotiating a fight with Tommy Fury,” Briggs claimed.
"I'll go for you first, then your Daddy, then your brother, let's go champ."
"All I can say is Tommy don't get scared now, don't get scared Tommy.”
