No Suarez rematch then.

Nava would probably beat him anyway.

Per @trboxing VP @CarlMoretti on reports of advanced negotiations for a unification between 130 titleholders Navarrete and Foster: “There are no significant discussions.” He added they are “exploring all options including mandatory obligations.” #boxing

🚨 NAVARRETE HAS NOT AGREED TO FOSTER FIGHT

👀 Alejandro Brito, Navarrette's manager, on rumors of a unification fight between Emanuel Navarrete and O'Shaquie Foster on Oct. 24: "NO not yet… To close out a fight like that, all those involved must agree And we (Cowboy) still don’t."

It's a fight that I like the look of because of the contrast of styles between the two of them,l and I am a fan of Navarette because of his front front pressure fighter style that I love and I hope he stays around long enough to fight some of the Brits at 130lbs such as Ryan Garner or Leigh Wood, depending on how much Leigh Wood has left in the tank to be honest.

Emanuel Navarrete-O'Shaquie Foster unification fight set for October 24 in San Antonio

IBF and WBO World junior-lightweight champion Emanuel Navarrete and WBC World junior-lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster have agreed to meet in a 130-pound unification superfight on October 24 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

According to reporting by Chris Mannix during the Shields-Scott live broadcast on DAZN, three-division champ “Vaquero” Navarrete, 40-2-1 (33 KOs), of San Juan Zitlaltepec, Mexico, and two-weight champ “Ice Water” Foster, 25-3 (12 KOs), of Houston will contend for at least two belts, as the WBO has ordered Navarrete to instead face his longtime mandatory challenger Charly Suarez, and thus, Navarrete may have to vacate that belt to make the showdown happen.

In his most recent ring appearance, 31-year-old Navarrete unified the IBF and WBO titles by stopping Eduardo Nunez in 11 rounds in February.

Notably, Suarez is rumored to be negotiating a fight against comebacking three-weight world champ Vasiliy Lomachenko in November. That fight is not yet confirmed.

32-year-old Foster was last seen winning a 12-round majority decision over Raymond Ford to successfully defend his WBC title in May.

Navarrete, Foster agree to title unification Oct. 24

One of the best fights that can be made in boxing is now set.

DAZN’s Chris Mannix reported on Saturday that Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster will meet in a 130-pound title unification bout on October 24 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Navarrete is The Ring's No. 1 junior lightweight and Foster sits just behind him at No. 2, meaning the Ring's lightweight crown will likely be on the line too. The division's last ruler was current WBO welterweight titleholder Devin Haney, who vacated his strap in November 2023 after two defenses before moving up to 140 pounds.

Whether Navarrete’s WBO belt will be on the line remains to be seen.

He has twice been ordered by the sanctioning body to face Charly Suarez in a rematch, having fought to a controversial no-contest after seven completed rounds in May 2025.

Had referee Edward Collantes properly ruled that Navarrete’s cut came from a punch rather than a headbutt, Suarez (19-0, 11 KOs, 1 NC) would have won by stoppage.

Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC) originally won by technical unanimous decision after the fight was stopped at the beginning of the eighth round, but the result was later changed to a no-contest.

The 31-year-old, a three-division titleholder, became the unified WBO, IBF titleholder with a dominant 11th-round stoppage of Eduardo Nunez on February 28.

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is a two-time WBC lightweight champion. The Orange, Texas, native first won the title in February 2023 with a unanimous decision over Rey Vargas and reclaimed the title 18 months later, outpointing Robson Conceicao in their rematch. The 32-year-old is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Raymond Ford on May 30.

Re: WBO Jr. Lightweight Division

The WBO has been advised by Team Navarrete that terms have been reached with O’Shaquie Foster for a potential unification bout and that Team Navarrete intends to defend the WBO Jr. Lightweight Championship as part of the proposed unification.

Navarrete–Foster is unquestionably one of the most significant and compelling matchups that can be made in the 130-pound division. However, the WBO must carefully review and consider the respective arguments and positions of all parties involved and, pursuant to its governing policies, Rules & Regulations, render the applicable ruling.

Accordingly, the matter will now be referred to the WBO Championship Committee for its consideration and determination in accordance with the WBO’s established procedures.

Any determination rendered by the Committee will be communicated publicly in due course. @WorldBoxingOrg @trboxing @bxstrs @bxstrsnews @SampsonBoxing @OshaquieFoster

WBO set to approve Emanuel Navarrete-O'Shaquie Foster as three-belt unification

The WBO is moving toward making the October 24 Emanuel Navarrete-O’Shaquie Foster junior lightweight unification a three-belt affair, Boxing-Scene has learned.

A day after Navarrete and Foster’s verbal agreement to fight in San Antonio was first reported, WBO President Gustavo Olivieri said the process is in place for WBO/IBF champion Navarrete, 40-2-1 (33 KOs), of Mexico to have both his belts on the line versus Houston’s WBC champion Foster, 25-3 (12 KOs).

“I believe the [WBO’s four-person championship] committee will render a decision pursuant to the WBO’s policies, rules and regulations, while serving the best interests of boxing,” Olivieri said.

WBO mandatory contender Charly Suarez of the Philippines has already endured waiting out Navarrete's February 28 stoppage of then-IBF champion Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez in Arizona.

Suarez fought Navarrete to a disputed no-contest in May 2025, an outcome that should’ve been a Suarez victory if the video replay showing a Suarez punch – and not an accidental headbutt – had caused a cut over Navarrete’s eye that forced the fight’s stoppage and wrongly sent the bout to the scorecards.

Now, Suarez is being asked to wait again, although multiple sources connected to the situation have told BS there’s an ongoing effort to stage a high-profile bout between Suarez and former three-division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko that would guarantee the winner a title shot at the Navarrete-Foster winner.

Both Navarrete and Foster are promoted by Top Rank. Suarez is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz, and Lomachenko is handled by his longtime manager Egis Klimas.

The WBO is expected to contact Lewkowicz Monday.

In a prepared WBO statement distributed to BS Sunday, the sanctioning body informed it “has been advised by Team Navarrete that terms have been reached with O’Shaquie Foster for a potential unification bout and that Team Navarrete intends to defend the WBO [130lbs] championship as part of the proposed unification.

“Navarrete-Foster is unquestionably one of the most significant and compelling matchups that can be made in the 130-pound division. However, the WBO must carefully review and consider the respective arguments and positions of all parties involved and, pursuant to its governing policies, rules and regulations, render the applicable ruling.

“Accordingly, the matter will now be referred to the WBO championship committee for its consideration and determination in accordance with the WBO’s established procedures.”

WBO clears way for Emanuel Navarrete vs O’Shaquie Foster unification on October 24th

All three belts will be on the line when Emanuel Navarrete meets O’Shaquie Foster this fall

News broke earlier this month that super featherweight titlists Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster had agreed to meet in a three-belt unification on October 24th in San Antonio. One lingering issue remained, however: WBO mandatory challenger Charly Suarez, who’s been waiting over a year for the “immediate rematch” promised him following what should have been a TKO victory over “Vaquero.”

That appears to have been settled, as WBO president Gustavo Olivieri announced earlier today that the sanctioning body will allow the belt to be on the line, contingent on the winner facing Suarez within 180 days.

I don’t need to sell you on Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KO) vs Foster (25-3, 12 KO); it’s one of the best fights the current boxing landscape has to offer. Navarrete was in career-best form in last February’s mauling of Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez and Foster has been a consistent standout for years. Can’t say this ruling doesn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth, though; Suarez (19-0, 11 KO) would have gotten Navarrete’s belt had replay been utilized and he already stepped aside once to let the Nunez fight happen.

Ah, well. Hopefully they’ll do right by him eventually. We’ll let you know when and if they make Navarrete vs Foster official.

WBO Belt Will Be At Stake In Navarrete-Foster Fight

The WBO belt will be at stake when Emanuel Navarrete opposes O’Shaquie Foster in a 130-pound championship unification clash.

Gustavo Olivieri, president of the WBO, announced Tuesday that the Puerto Rico-based sanctioning organization has delayed Navarette’s mandatory obligation so that Navarrete can defend his IBF and WBO belts against Foster. The WBC title Foster owns will also be on the line when they square off October 24 in a 12-round main event DAZN will stream globally from Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC), of San Juan Zitlaltepec, Mexico, and Foster (25-3, 12 KOs), of Orange, Texas, will fight The Ring’s unclaimed championship as well because Navarrete is ranked No. 1 in The Ring Top 10 and Foster is No. 2.
The Navarrete-Foster winner will be obliged to make a mandated defense of the WBO junior lightweight title within 180 days of their fight or risk being stripped of that title.

Charly Suarez has been the mandatory challenger for one of Navarrete’s titles since the WBO ordered the Mexican champion to give Suarez a rematch in June 2025.

The Philippines’ Suarez is expected, however, to fight former three-division champ Vasiliy Lomachenko next. Representatives for Suarez and Lomachenko have yet to finalize a deal for their bout.

Ukraine’s Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) announced his retirement in June 2025, but he launched his comeback in May. The 38-year-old two-time Olympic gold medalist can earn a shot at the Navarrete-Foster winner by beating Suarez (19-0, 11 KOs, 1 NC) in his comeback bout.

Suarez is ranked No. 4 among The Ring’s junior lightweight contenders, behind only Navarrete, Foster and WBA champ Anthony Cacace (25-1, 9 KOs).

Navarrete was initially declared the winner of his fight with Suarez, who was his mandatory challenger, by technical decision in May 2025. The California State Athletic Commission changed the official result to a no-contest in June 2025 because it determined one of Suarez’s left-handed punches opened a cut over Navarrete’s left eye early in the sixth round, not an accidental clash of heads.

If referee Edward Collantes or replay official Jack Reis ruled on fight that Suarez’s punch caused Navarrete’s cut, Suarez would’ve been ruled the winner by technical knockout once one of the CSAC’s ringside physicians wouldn’t allow Navarrete to continue early in the eighth round due to that cut.

Navarrete was narrowly ahead on all three scorecards – 78-75, 77-76 and 77-76 – at the time of the stoppage.

Press Release: Foster shacks up with Top Rank on a new deal

O’Shaquie Foster will continue his championship run with Top Rank. The two-time junior lightweight champion has signed a multi-year extension with the promotional company ahead of his fall return. “O’Shaquie Foster has been on an impressive championship trajectory during our time together, with a series of statement wins that have created real momentum and established him among the best fighters in his weight class and the world,” said Top Rank President Todd duBoef. “His desire to challenge and defeat all has been the key ingredient to our promotional partnership, which we look forward to continuing in the coming years.”

Foster said, “I’m excited about this new chapter. It’s been a great partnership with Top Rank and DAZN, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue building with both organizations. I can’t wait to take on bigger challenges and continue to take over the sport.”

“Shock has worked extremely hard to establish himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing, and we’re excited to continue building on what we’ve accomplished together with Top Rank,” said Keith Mills, Foster’s manager. “This multi-year extension is a tremendous opportunity for Shock to compete on the biggest stages, face the best fighters in the world, and continue pursuing his goals at the highest level. We appreciate the confidence that Top Rank and DAZN have shown in Shock, and we look forward to a very successful future together.”

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) turned pro in 2012 and overcame early setbacks, both in and out of the ring, before rebuilding his career alongside trainer Bobby Benton beginning in 2017. A lengthy winning streak carried him to a February 2023 showdown with Rey Vargas, where Foster captured the vacant WBC title. His first defense became an instant classic, as he traveled to Cancun and stopped Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez with 22 seconds remaining in the twelfth round. Foster followed with a decision over Abraham Nova before losing the title to Robson Conceição via controversial split decision in July 2024. Four months later, he settled the score, regaining the belt from Conceição by split decision.

Foster has since produced some of his finest work. He dominated two-division champion Stephen Fulton Jr. last December before returning home to Houston in May and defeating former featherweight champion Raymond Ford by majority decision.

O’Shaquie Foster Inks Multi-Year Extension with Top Rank

Top Rank has announced they’ve signed a multi-year promotional extension with two-time and current WBC junior lightweight world champion O’Shaquie Foster.

Foster, 25-3 (12 KOs), of Houston, has had five fights under the Top Rank banner since signing in November 2023, following his successful title defense over Eduardo "Rocky" Hernandez.

He decisioned Abraham Nova before losing and then regaining his WBC junior lightweight belt in two consecutive fights with Robson Conceição, in July and November 2024,. Both matches ended in split decisions.

Foster then went on to dominate two-division world champion Stephen Fulton Jr. last December before defeating former featherweight world champion Raymond Ford by majority decision in his most recent ring appearance in May.

Recent reports have said that Foster has a verbal agreement to face three-division and current unified IBF and WBO junior lightweight champ Emanuel Navarrete in a three-belt unification fight on October 24 in San Antonio, though no official announcement has yet been made.

“I’m excited about this new chapter,” said Foster. “It’s been a great partnership with Top Rank and DAZN, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue building with both organizations. I can’t wait to take on bigger challenges and continue to take over the sport.”

This could be a good fight.
San Antonio in October is way better than the summer months down there.
O Shaquie boxes all over the place while Navarrete boxes in the Mexican zones.
Stylewise it looks alright.
