Davidson , worst trainer
Davidson , worst trainer
Now its no secret that for a long time i have thought he was useless , i;ve said it on here many a time , and every time theres a big fook up like todays Moses fight he just makes me feel , i'm correct even more ,
Start with Moses ,, well to be honest i was;nt has sure about him becoming the next god of boxing , because i just like everyone else wanted to see how he went when he was tested
Well for my money he went brilliant , he boxed really well , his speed , punch selection everything was bang on , except the obvious what we alls seen his stamina was SHITE , he completly outboxed a guy who is experienced and in the top echolon of heavyweights , TILL HE DID;NT
Now Moses skills have been shouted from the rooftops by all and sundry for years people who know , so you have to believe he;s had a top skillset for a long time , DAVIDSON HAS NOT TAUGHT HIM , THEM SKILLS WERE ALREADY THERE SINCE A KID , now how do i know that simple we have all been told often enough by top boxers , pundits and most involved with the game .
What he done today has far has i'm concerned was show that these guys were not wrong to sing his praises ,
Now up to now you could be forgiven for saying what you on about , he lost which he did , but why did he lose , thats the million dollar question .
Well we all seen why he lost , he put it all out there boxed Phillips ears off , and then nearly gave himself heart attack still trying to win when his tank was completly empty , that shown heart , and if anyone tells me different my answer is YOU TRY IT , he really did show some skills and heart . .
So why did he lose , simple answer DAVIDSON , this guy should never be allowed near top boxers , has far has i'm concerned one day he will get a fighter seriously hurt , and WHY THE FOOK THEY GO TO HIM HAS ME FOOKED .
I said to my son half way through the fight when Moses was gassing , he will probably ko DD , but they better keep him away from Wardley , nbecause DD will go down and stay down , Wardley will get up and hit him back and stop him late , then a round or two after he gassed worse than any boxer i've ever seen , we azll seen what happenned
So Davidson I BLAME HIM , ,,, WHY some may ask its simple he never done his job AGAIN , his job is to test the fitness in the gym , get his fighter ready and any good, trainer , can spot all the tell tail signs in the gym , For fook sake we all know a kid is ready technicly for his first fight , but we don't let him fight because he's not fit enough so we get him fit , .
Its the trainers job to KNOW and theres no excuse not too , Davidson is simply too inexperienced for this level he should be over in the corner with the beginers teaching basics , if he even knows them , like everyone else i was curious to see how moses would go later , but in all honesty i did think there profesionals , he has dietiscens , S and C coaches , a boxing trainer , so theres no reason for him to gas , ,, Christ i put a fighter in once on his pro debut in a 6 rounder people were saying to me his first 6 by 3 is a bit much is;nt it , my answer was simple , he's 20 , he's been a 6 time national champ , 4 of his gym mates are 10 rnd fighters , he trains the same has them it will be a peice of piss for him and it was , I knew because it was my job to know , ITS DAVIDSONS job to know that Moses can't ,,
There would be little tell tail signs in the gym such has moses banging out sparring partners because he's getting tired and hurt , An experienced trainer will know the signs ,
it makes me wonder how many times has he been lined up for 10-12 rnd spars with 3 opponents all doing one minuite each taking turns being told too keep him busy make him work ,, 30 sec break , having pulse took for recovery rates inbetween rnds , I seriously doubt its ever happenned and it must especielly when he's a banger and knows he can slow his sparring down to suit himself simply by banging them out ,
My dislike for Davidson is simply his arrogance to think he knows enough with such little experience and whats more it keeps showing , how the fook can a trainer not know his boxer has not got the stamina needed , he has the power , he has the speed , he has the skill set , and he was'nt hurt so his chin is,nt too bad either but he lacked the one thing you have to be lucky to do without THE FITNESS, because DAVIDSON just does'nt have the knoledge or experience to see these thiongs even if he knows what to look for ,
Moses needs to grab Wardleys hand and both run has fast has they can to a proper BOXING TRAINER theres lots of them in the UK . Moses will come back he will be world champ but not while he's with this clown , at the moment Wardley has crude has he is ,would take moses in too deep waters and stop him late

Me and Mrs Bowie call it the Ben Davison Curse. He's always in the corner of someone getting a shellacking. AJ against Dubois, Wardley, Itauma.
Why is he the go-to choice for fighters? Has he ever fought? He's young and seems totally clueless. If you compare his between rounds advice with that of Manny Steward it sounds like the difference between a top level professional and a novice amateur.

He could have easily had losses against Justice Huni and Josh Warrington on his record if it weren't for his boxers freakish power. Nothing from Davison helped those two results.

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
We know how he got good fighters originally. He got Fury, Saunders & Taylor through the MTK connection & Daniel Kinahan.
I don’t know if that still plays a factor.
It is mental.
He has had some good wins but they don’t tend to come from any kind of game plan.
As you mentioned above Wood bet Warrington because his chin held up & his power turned it round. He got battered for every minute of every round before the stoppage.
Masoud had a good win over Davies but then you take into account that Masoud also beat him as an amateur & you wonder how much Davison actually contributed to that.
He made Taylor worse, he made Fury worse the longer he had him. McCormack hasn’t fulfilled his potential under him. I thought his corner work in the Wardley fight was terrible. Left him in several rounds too long.
Itauma’s giving interviews saying he hasn’t sparred 12 rounds in one go in the build up to the fight & then gasses. It’s madness.
He is genuinely an idiot. Bottom set in everything at school type. Some boxing trainers don’t speak brilliantly but they’re quite clever & they can come up with game plans for fighters.
Davison’s on instagram last night sharing posts about making history at 7pm. What’s all that about?
I remember when they were all taking the Kinahan money but most of them were intelligent enough to keep their gobs shut. Davison & Saunders were the two who were constantly giving interviews about how good of a man Kinahan was whilst he was having people murdered. Just a stupid human being.

Shane Fury did an interview recently talking about the Wilder one training camp. He said he was screaming at Ben and Freddie Roach took him outside and told him he agreed with everything he was saying.a force wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 05:16 We know how he got good fighters originally. Davison’s flaws are well documented by now, surely. Doesn’t seem to have any real boxing knowledge, and an utter inability to suggest tactical adjustments mid-fight when things aren’t going to plan.

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
Yes he's awful. BUT the fighters are choosing him. The fighters want a guy who will probably just sit there and be a yes man for them. I can't imagine Davison telling Itauma to do something Itauma doesn't want to do and then forcing him to do it. The likes of Freddie Roach would be telling you that you are doing this amount of sparring today, this amount of work, and if you don't want to do it, get out of the gym because you're not making me, or yourself, look like a mug when you fight out of this gym. When you see Itauma gassing that badly due to not pacing himself and then being stretchered out, it's not just outright dangerous, it's completely embarrassing for the trainers around him.
However, I really think fighters deserves some blame. Itauma was casually saying he has never done 12 round spars. The problem with that type of talk pre fight is that we never know if fighters are telling the truth. When I saw that interview at the time, I just assumed he was lying. Surely he couldn't be coming in without having done 12 round spars..... but he was clearly telling the truth.
There is also an element of a lack of experience or knowledge fighters have and Davison will sit there and confidently talk as if he has Manny Steward levels of boxing knowledge. In that case I can definitely see how someone like Itauma could just go along with it, especially when the camp is full of yes men.
It's a tricky subject because the fighter has some responsibility too.

Good trainer.. bad cornerman is what I always hear.
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
Can anyone tell me what Ben's background is in boxing? Did he have any fights? Train armatures etc? Just interested really he seems to get huge fights for a trainer so young

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
I don’t care whether Davison gets credit or hate but I want the same standard applied to everyone.
Andy Lee has had Parker stopped by underdog Wardley and Donovan lose twice to Crocker, with zero world-level wins in two years. Derrick James had Spence dismantled by Crawford, Martin stopped by Tank and Garcia schooled by massive underdog Rolly. Golub’s recent camps produced Usyk looking awful against Rico and AJ getting dropped twice by Prenga, while that same Usyk setup also saw Daniel Lapin get flattened by a huge underdog.
Even Abel Sanchez had Gassiev follow Usyk around for 12 rounds with absolutely no Plan B, looking far more clueless than Briedis ever did against him.
The difference is Davison genuinely has a lot of fighters in high-profile, competitive fights, so naturally he’ll accumulate more visible losses — and his fighters have also won plenty of fights they weren’t supposed to win.
If "fighter loses big fight = trainer is useless" is the standard, then every trainer in boxing history is trash.

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
Has far has i can tell ,he was mates with Saunders , then Fury , got the jobs because he was there mate , then loved to go on before any camera and sprout the obvious has if he was Emanuelle Steward , , what he really needs to do if he wants to be a good trainer , is go to Mckracken or someone of that calibre , and ask them very nicely if he can assist with the ameteur beginers for 10 years , be sent to teach basics to kids , corner thousands of ameteur rnds and wait till he's invited to step up and help with the big boys .
Wether he has fought or not to me is irrelevemt , theres many a good trainer who hav'nt same has theres many a good boxer who are shit coaches ,
But what is important is this , , just like you have to learn to box , you have to learn to be a trainer and has with all learning you start at the bottom and work your way up , he started at the top and his learning his way down
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
A fighter gets stopped because he's in with a big puncher ,who can pull out a hail mary punch at any time , and gets caught , or a fighter gets in with a future All Time GReat and gets well beat , you cannot blame the trainer or the fighter , thats just simply boxing , shit happens .Heldenjaeger wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 06:48 I don’t care whether Davison gets credit or hate but I want the same standard applied to everyone.

But when a fighter is winning every single rnd by a gallop , then just suddenly virtually collapses from exhaustion because he gassed , and just simply nearly killed himself from trying , then that fighter needs to look hard at the people he pays top dollar too get him in shape , and that fighters trainer has to be asked the question why did'nt you know he did'nt have the stamina , theres no excuse for not knowing its what there paid for , especielly when the same fighter shown signs of gassing in his last fight , then add on the Wardley fiasco and i think its fair comment to say he's shit , , and does'nt know his job
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
I saw an interview with him a while back. Can’t remember all the details but he was at the same amateur club as Saunders and may have had a handful of bouts but definitely nothing major. Then, he said, he started helping out one of the trainers there.
Then in a separate interview, Saunders said Davidson spent time learning from Jimmy Tibbs while Saunders was training with him.
Then presumably the Fury connection came via Saunders too.

Lemieux punched himself empty against Rubio at 22 and got stopped after dominating early. Was Russ Anber therefore a shit trainer who "didn’t know his job"?
Itauma, a 21-year-old novice whose whole style is built around explosive, energy-heavy offence, empties his tank and suddenly it proves Davison is uniquely incompetent.
Question the preparation, absolutely. Just apply the same standard to everyone. Lemieux even said himself, "I’m an all-or-nothing guy" and everything about Itauma points to him being much the same. If that kind of fighter blows his tank, it isn’t automatically proof that the trainer is useless.
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
Because he was'nt even in a fight for the first 6 rnds , he may has well been hitting a bag , and his trainer did'nt know his boxer was so unfit with so little stamina , like i say you gas after 6 rnds of war its boxing you gas after 6 rnds of hitting a bag its terrible gym workHeldenjaeger wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 07:19But again, why is this standard only applied to Davison?coneye wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 07:05A fighter gets stopped because he's in with a big puncher ,who can pull out a hail mary punch at any time , and gets caught , or a fighter gets in with a future All Time GReat and gets well beat , you cannot blame the trainer or the fighter , thats just simply boxing , shit happens .

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
"Hitting a bag" is nonsense. Itauma landed 39 % overall. Good, but it still means most of his shots missed. Hrgovic was moving, making him miss big swings, constantly put mental pressure on him and landed more on Moses than all his previous opponents combined. That’s a completely different physical demand from teeing off on a stationary target.coneye wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 07:26Because he was'nt even in a fight for the first 6 rnds , he may has well been hitting a bag , and his trainer did'nt know his boxer was so unfit with so little stamina , like i say you gas after 6 rnds of war its boxing you gas after 6 rnds of hitting a bag its terrible gym work
Lemieux-Rubio followed almost the same script: dominate early, throw hard, opponent keeps coming, tank empties. Sometimes that’s simply what happens when an explosive, all-or-nothing fighter finally meets someone who survives the first layer.
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
Hrgovic , done what his experience and his experienced trainer had planned for him to do , he backed his own chin , but he got hit easy and LOST just about every rnd he had a fight plan go to the deep waters and it worked , but really i think they are probably just has shocked has most others if Moses had not hit that wall and carried on with a degree of fitness into the latter rnds , there plan would not of worked because he was simply out boxed has easy has someone hitting a bagHeldenjaeger wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 07:36"Hitting a bag" is nonsense. But you have to credit Hrgovic he backed himself and there plan of action worked , But why did it work because moses was not in the shape a top teir fighter should be in and why was that Because his highly paid trainer failed to pick up in the gym that his fighter had no stamina Or he did know but failed to do something about it which is even worse , the guys a celebrity trainer nothing more nothing less , and i'm not jumping on the bandwagon here , i've said this about him from day one , Hi success has a trainer has come solely from , talented well schooled elswhere boxers going to him, and has someone else pointed out sometinmes there wins have been very lucky and its there own skills not his advice or training that won it for them
Re: Davidson , worst trainer
I agree, stamina was a massive issue. And Moses does have the skills to become a world class operator. The other two issues I saw with Moses was 1/he was too reliant on landing the big left hand. There comes a time when the big punch will not be enough to finish off an opponent. Last night was a perfect example. When that happens, you need a plan B. There was not one. Which brings me to 2/I agree with you about Ben Davidson. A far more experienced trainer would of had a plan B. As soon as it became apparent,Moses's big punches were having no effect. He should of boxed him for a few rounds, totted up the points,to drag out a decision. It may have been ugly but sometimes that's just the way it goes. Ben never changed the strategy onceconeye wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 04:12 Now its no secret that for a long time i have thought he was useless , i;ve said it on here many a time , and every time theres a big fook up like todays Moses fight he just makes me feel , i'm correct even more ,
Start with Moses ,, well to be honest i was;nt has sure about him becoming the next god of boxing , because i just like everyone else wanted to see how he went when he was tested

Re: Davidson , worst trainer
He used to have a big boxercise stable.....
You would have thought, fighting against the Croatian, that they could have envisaged a scenario where big Phil wasn't getting knocked out.
I never saw a plan B
Maybe after the 4th or 5th his corner telling him to jab and move, still banking rounds, and then maybe come on stronger late on.
Maybe Moses couldn't be told, but that's on the trainer too. Seemed the only plan was to go for it and knock him out early.
Hopefully Moses can learn from this, could ruin him too
