Richardson Hitchins vs. Keyshawn Davis - Who wins?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

‼️ Richardson Hitchins and Keyshawn Davis are in advanced talks for a welterweight fight later this year, sources tell The Ring’s @MikeCoppinger.

If the deal is finalized, this would pit two young, undefeated American boxers against one another in a high-stakes bout.

I'm leaning towards Davis on this one.

But it's a great match up.

Advanced negotiations underway between Davis, Hitchins for matchup at 147

Richardson Hitchins and Keyshawn Davis are in advanced talks for a welterweight fight later this year, sources tell The Ring.

If the deal is finalized, it would pit two young, undefeated American boxers against one another in a high-stakes bout.

Hitchins (21-0, 8 KOs) made his 147-pound debut in July in his native New York with a shutout decision over Ricardo Salas. Hitchins was scheduled to defend his IBF junior welterweight title vs. Oscar Duarte in February, but he fell ill after making weight for the IBF’s second weigh-in the morning of the fight.

The 28-year-old subsequently vacated his title. Hitchins isn’t ranked by The Ring at welterweight after his lone fight at 147.

Davis, an Olympic silver medalist, faced public backlash after he declined a mandatory title shot at Devin Haney for a career-high $3 million purse this fall. Davis could rebound with a tough assignment here against Hitchins.

Davis, 27, is a former lightweight titleholder. He made his 140-pound debut in January with a 12th-round TKO of Jamaine Ortiz. Davis (15-0, 10 KOs) followed up with a decision victory over Nahir Albright in a May rematch.

Davis would move up another weight class for the fight with Hitchins.

Hitchins, Davis drum up interest for potential next fight

It sure sounds like Richardson Hitchins and Keyshawn Davis are due to duke it out.

"I'm so excited for me and Keyshawn to square off," Hitchins said on social media Thursday. "I can finally show my true greatness as a great fighter and put my name as one of the best fighters on the planet, pound-for-pound. This is what I am about. … I'm a bad mother------, and y'all will see!"

Davis responded on social media by sharing a coy message with a zipper-mouth face emoji, which typically conveys someone is keeping a secret or remaining silent.

Earlier this month, The Ring's Mike Coppinger reported that Hitchins and Davis were in advanced negotiations for a welterweight fight later this year.

Hitchins (21-0, 8 KOs), a former 140-pound IBF titleholder, moved up to welterweight in July for a dominant shutout decision win over Ricardo Salas. The New York native had been slated to make the final defense of his title against Oscar Duarte in February but became ill after the IBF’s second-day weigh-in on the morning of the bout.

Davis (15-0, 10 KOs) last fought in May and beat Nahir Albright by unanimous decision at 140 pounds. Then the former lightweight titleholder and U.S. Olympic silver medalist drew tremendous criticism for turning down a mandatory title shot against WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney which would have paid him a career-best $3 million in his division debut.

Soon after the fight between the boisterous boxers came to light, Hitchins declared the dance against Davis to be a 50-50 clash.

Davis, meanwhile, has kept a mostly low profile since declining the chance to fight Haney.

From the few interviews I have seen with Richardson Hitchins 'he has a good attitude. And I think he is the better boxer, and has better wins at top level than Keyshawn Davis'.

Note: Davis does seem to have marginally superior punching speed, but? I think he will have to put himself in the danger zone in order to give himself the best opportunity to win this fight vs. Hitchins'.

I think that style of fight will suit Richardson with Davis constantly trying to ambush him with his speed 'his defence does not look impregnable'.

I will back Richardson Hitchins for the win etc.
