Good that they are reducing the numbers. I like to think these mega dinghies are a last gasp for the smuggling gangs. Surely they must be easier to stop: all it takes for Johnny Gendarme to poke one hole and 250 people have had their plans thwarted, as opposed to the smaller boats.

So why doesn't the UK just stop the boats?

The boats arent the problem, they are just a lightening rod for peoples anger, we havent added somewhere between 7-9 million to our population via rubber dingy.
What makes all this migration into this country particularly problematic was it by and large followed hot on the heels of the deindustrialisation of the U.K, people were still reeling from having all their well paid jobs taken away when they suddenly found themselves competing for the scaps that were left with waves and waves of cheap foreign labour.
Over the last 40 years our politicians have become noticably richer [cough cough Tony Blair] as the British people have become noticably poorer. In fact the native population are the big losers in this shell game, the banking/corporate/donor class get their cheap labour and gig economy, the politicians get their cushy jobs in the boardrooms of the large financial istitutions, the migrants get to live in a western european country and the ordinary Brit picks up the tab for the lot of it.

Just blow those ships out of the water. Poland shoots anyone crossing illegally at their border with Belarus and they are still a part of the E.U. If those economic refugees know that a boat they get on will be blown up trying to cross into Great Britain they will have second if not third thoughts about trying to illegally enter the country. Every country has a right to defend it's borders from illegal intrusion. Europe is being invaded and it needs to be stopped. The people coming over have no intention of adapting to European culture or values.

What ships? Large inflatables that could be punctured at the source of launch. No illegal economic migrant would be harmed, apart from the debt they owe to the traffickers.

Tbf to the French police they've started puncturing a few dingys. Rumour is we're paying about 60 million for them to do that though.

Imagine the UK being so weak we get jobbed over like this by France of all nations. It's pathetic. If it were up to me id send some British troops to occupy northern France, I bet the white hankies would be out in no time.

I'd do it anyway. France are as guilty in this illegal invasion as the traffickers themselves. May aswell go down with a fight, I'd launch a military operation on the French beaches and bill France hundreds of billions in reparations for that operation plus every penny the UK public have spent in housing the illegals or the admin costs in processing them. Countries gone to the dogs, like I said, we may aswell go down swinging.

Is it really that much worse where you live, compared to say 15 years ago? The only real difference I’ve noticed in my city in that time is the explosion of spice / crack heads, but they’re definitely not immigrants.

Massively, Glasgow doesn't look anything like it did 15 years ago. We always bad a fairly sizeable Pakistani and Indian population but they're very well assimilated, the boat folk is another kettle of fish, and many of them hang around the streets at all hours.

Yes, but you need them to run your NHS, Farage is a grifter, and everything would be just peachy if only the rich paid their fare share.

In that case why are the French not stopping the large inflatables from setting down and being launched despite British taxpayer money being paid to them to stop it? Reconnaissance of launch sites and a few snipers putting bullets into the large rafts as they are being carried for launch. A possible reasonable scenario?

Because it isn't a military matter.

Because the French don't want them in France any more than the Brits want them in Britain.

Then you would have to conjure an imagination of why the ‘elites’ allowed it to happen to begin with.

The whole of the Mediterranean Sea has the technology to monitor the vast sea traffic. The same technology is available to the sea traffic across from the continent to the UK.
