Shall I post RBR thread tomorrow night in the British section of CS?

I know the fight has had more traffic on the British section since it was announced.
Come on now, we all know you’ll post it in both anyway  :yay:

No, I’ll post a new thread in one section.

The other thread in the other section, I’ll just paste the Running order.

You should know me better than that BB

He’s fighting a British level fighter who has a really poor defence & may also be weight drained
Garcia is a Plant Pot at times though, you never know which Ryan will turn up and despite what i think of him, Benn is a seriously hard fcuker with a big heart, could see it going either way.

I’m surprised to see the poll so one sided. I mean odds definitely favour Garcia but he can be erratic, and I do think people underrate Benn just cos they don’t like him. He’s very fit, has a half decent punch and good work rate. He does look drained granted.

It’s quite odd seeing Ryan taunt Benn about his egg excuse given that Garcia failed a drug test too

I agree in that I could imagine a scenario where the best version of Benn might be able to bully Garcia if we wasn't on top form. However, the way Benn looked vs Progrias at 149lbs makes me think that scenario is less likely.

He can beat Garcia, I just don't think he will.
I don’t see how he beats Garcia if he’s not on the gear, I really don’t.
If Rolly Romero and Luke Campbell can put him on the deck, Connor Benn can. So maybe decks him twice en-route to a decision. Or maybe Garcia hasn't prepared properly or he's mentally off. I can definitely see ways that Benn wins.
Conor’s not fit to lace Campbell’s gloves and assuming Rolly is fringe world class that puts him out of Conor’s league too.

I feel like this reminds me of Cotto - Jennings.

World level fighter fighting a British level volume puncher in the same weight class.

The problem with being a volume puncher is that you’re going to get hit & that’s where it all falls apart for Benn like it did Jennings. Like Jennings he isn’t a puncher & isn’t as accurate as his opponent so he will have to outwork his opponent but by trying to outwork Garcia he will leave himself open to counters.

Benn’s definitely looked game up to now but he hasn’t fought a single fighter of any decent standard that’s even close to their prime.

Van Heerden, Algieri & Prograis were all at their best in the division below at least half a decade before they fought Benn.

Eubank probably looked at his best around the time of the Super Series.

It’s a different game when you’re fighting another young & hungry fighter who will also throw plenty of shots.

I’m trying to resist the urge to underrate Garcia, I should really stop thinking about how many past welterweight champions would absolutely take him to the cleaners. It’s a pretty long list.

But Ryan can look decent at times. I can certainly see why people would think there is a sizeable gap between him and Benn that can’t be closed.

I do think a distance fight is likely though. Whatever anyone thinks of Benn, it’s going to take something significant to knock the fight out of him.

I'm just like everyone else , i think Garcia should do a number on him , But like everyone is saying depends which one shows up , I hope its the good one , But watching that two things i took from it is

1---Garcia seems a bit wound up and all over the shop , think this fights getting too him .

2--- Benn looks better than i seen in photos , he may be doing the weight ok .

Still on form Garcia should give him a proper belting , for me what makes it interesting , theres no way can Benn outbox him , so its gonna have to be go for him , put it on him and stop Garcia boxing , to do this he's gonna be open for counters , and Garcia is not a one trick pony he has got more than a left hook

Not so sure Garcia will ko him , Benn has stood up to bigger guys and Garcia power was more at lightweight , But i can see Simms throwing the towel in

Has Benn ever been in with a concussive puncher ?

He's full of claims of how tenacious and spiteful he is, let's see how he reacts when Garcia lands with a big left hook as seems inevitable

Benn's main hope is to overwhelm Garcia. Probably can't outtime him or land sneaky counters like Tank.

I don’t see it as fanciful for Benn to claim to be tenacious and spiteful, those are basically his best attributes.

It’s an interesting match up though. Garcia has KO’d many distinctly average fighters, maybe the gap in skill here will mean Benn is added to that list tonight even with Ryan off the juice. Let’s see.

Also Benn's chin is going to keep him in the fight a lot longer. I can't see Garcia blasting him out early. That's what makes it interesting.
Two fighters I don't like for many and various reasons :box:

In the past 4 years:
Benn has fought 5 times.
He has won 4 times on points and lost 1 on points.
His victories were against 2 fighters clearly past their peak and 2 relative nobodies.

I get the general public falling for the marketing of Benn, but people on here talking about his chin, tenacity, spitefulness etc when all are completely unproven at the level Garica has been operating at over the same time period genuinely surprises me.

Watiching him against Regis Prograis, who clearly had mobility issues and was cashing out at the end of his career, I saw someone with poor footwork and timing, lacking spite in his work and looking like a British title level operator at best. Durability and workrate only get you so far in this game.
