FOSTER PROMISES HE WON'T RUN AGAINST NAVARRETE

Emanuel Navarrete vs. O’Shaquie Foster is a matchup of contrasting styles, a pressure fighter against a boxer-puncher.

Navarrete expects that he’ll have to chase Foster down to get him to engage but Foster promised that won’t be the case, which, if true, could produce a more combustible fight than some might expect.

They came face to face for the first time on Wednesday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio at a Top Rank press conference to officially announce their 130-pound title-unification bout October 24 at Frost Bank Center on DAZN.

“I'm gonna control the fight,” Foster said. “I'm gonna dominate from round one. I [saw] an interview where he said something like, ‘I like to run and make fights difficult.’ Man, I ain't never ran from nobody. I put punishment and pain to my opponents as well. That night, he’s gonna get a boxing lesson. It ain't gonna be no running. It's gonna be a boxing lesson for sure.”

Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) enters the fight with the IBF and WBO belts, while Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is the WBC titleholder. The Ring title will also be on the line, as Navarrete and Foster are ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.

Navarrete, 31, delivered one of the best performances of his career in his last outing when he stopped then-IBF titleholder Eduardo Nunez in the 11th round to become the unified champion on February 28 in Arizona. The relentless and awkward pressure fighter from Mexico credited his performance against Nunez (29-2, 27 KOs) to his preparation and not having to deal with any “instabilities.”

In Foster, Navarrete believes he faces a difficult challenge. The three-division world champion also said he’s more than willing to put himself in danger to produce an exciting fight. “It's very difficult to have a fight with just one person,” Navarrete said via translator. “It depends on two people. If he's coming to score points calmly, if he's trying to win two world titles by making it an easy fight, I don't know. It's about showing who's best. Here, there are more than just belts on the line, and I say that with respect. It's about who is the best, and I don't know if it's right to fight in that manner in this fight.

“If it's a fight where I'm gonna lose or get dropped, then, oh well. I'm gonna go in there trying to win, coming forward, taking all the punishment required as long as I am imposing my style in order to win. I do admit that it will be a difficult fight, but I'm going to make it difficult as well.”

Foster, 32, is also coming off one of the best performances of his career in a majority decision victory over Raymond Ford (18-2-1, 8 KOs) on May 30 in Houston. Foster’s victory over the former featherweight world champion was his third in a row.

Navarrete went as far as to say he’d be willing to stick his face in front of Foster’s if it means getting the slick boxer from Orange, Texas, to trade punches with him. Foster quipped that if Navarrete did that, he’d emphatically prove he’s the best 130-pounder in the world.

“It's gonna be an early night,” Foster said. “Anybody give me free shots, it's not gonna be a good night. Ray Ford was saying before the last fight [that] all I had was a jab, and then by the end of the fight, I almost stopped him. These guys get in there and talk like they’re just gonna do this and do that [but] when they get in front of me ... it's a whole nother thing.

“He’s gonna see that my punching power, my speed [and] my IQ is totally different. We ain't doing no running, so he can know that now. We don't do no running, but definitely he’s gonna be running into punches all night.”

Top Rank also announced that undefeated featherweight contender Albert Gonzalez (18-0, 11 KOs) will face two-time world title challenger Edward Vazquez (20-3, 6 KOs) in a 10-round co-main event. Former lightweight title challenger Frank Martin will be on the card in a 10-round junior welterweight bout, although his opponent hasn't been announced.

Navarrete-Foster junior lightweight unification clash Oct. 24

Emanuel Navarrete and O'Shaquie Foster will clash in a junior lightweight unification bout on Oct. 24 in San Antonio, Top Rank confirmed Wednesday.

Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) will defend his WBO and IBF belts while Foster will put his WBC title on the line at Frost Bank Center.

Three-division world champion Navarrete -- who has also held titles at junior featherweight and featherweight -- is coming off a stoppage victory over Eduardo Nunez in February.

"I'm coming for everything, and I'm coming with everything I've got," Navarrete said.

"I'm a Mexican warrior. I fear nothing and no one. I'm glad O'Shaquie Foster accepted the fight, because I'm coming for that third world title. I already have two -- so why not three? On Oct. 24, you're going to see a real Mexican warrior."

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs), from Orange, Texas, is a two-time champion at junior lightweight, having first won the WBC strap in 2023 before he lost it the following year on a split decision to Robson Conceição. Foster then avenged the defeat in his next fight and has defended the belt twice since. He beat Ray Ford with a majority decision in May to set up the unification with Navarrete.

"This is the type of fight every fighter dreams about, and I'm ready for the challenge," Foster said.

"I'm also excited to be back in San Antonio and fighting in front of all my fans, both locally and around the world. The support I've received throughout my career has meant everything to me, and I'm looking forward to giving everyone another performance to remember.

"I know I say this every time, but this truly is the biggest fight of my career. I can't wait to put on for Texas and show the world what 'Shock' Foster is all about."

Lightweights Albert Gonzalez and Edward Vazquez will face off in the co-main event, with Frank Martin also set to return for the first time since his draw against Nahir Albright in February.

Albert Gonzalez faces Edward Vazquez in Navarrete vs Foster co-feature

Albert Gonzalez faces former title challenger Edward Vazquez in a featherweight bout on October 24 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The contest serves as the co-feature to the now-confirmed championship clash between Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster.

- Unbeaten Gonzalez (18-0, 11 KOs) of Moreno Valley, California, aims for his fourth victory of the year, having stopped Aaron Lopez Alameda in his previous bout in July.

- Vazquez (20-3, 6 KOs) of Fort Worth, Texas, targets his fourth win in a row after scoring a unanimous decision over Daniel Lugo in June.

The card will stream live on DAZN. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.

The main event is a super featherweight title unification bout between Mexico’s three-division champion Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs), who holds the WBO and IBF titles, and reigning WBC champion Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) of Orange, Texas.

The matchup was initially reported to take place at the Alamodome. On Wednesday, Top Rank announced Frost Bank Center as the venue to host the showdown.

Steven Navarro-Emanuel Moreno added to Emanuel Navarrete-O'Shaquie Foster undercard

On Saturday, October 24, a pair of 22-year-old bantamweight prospects and former amateur rivals, Steven Navarro and Emanuel Moreno, will meet in a 10-round clash for the vacant NABO title.

Navarro, 9-1 (6 KOs), of Los Angeles, and Moreno, 13-0 (3 KOs), from Wichita Falls, Texas, will meet on the undercard of the three-belt super featherweight world title unification showdown between WBO/IBF champion Emanuel Navarrete and WBC king O’Shaquie Foster, broadcast live on DAZN (8 pm ET/5 pm PT) from Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

In their first meeting, Navarro squeaked past Moreno in the 2020 USA Youth National Amateur Championships via split decision in 2021.

A former decorated amateur, Navarro turned pro in April 2024 and won his first seven bouts. He lost a shock technical decision to Jesse Daniel Mendoza in November 2025 after an accidental cut over Mendoza’s right eye, forced a premature trip to the scorecards at the start of the fourth round.

“Kid Dynamite” Navarro has since rebounded with a unanimous decision over Mario Hernandez in February and a fifth-round knockout of Delvin McKinley in August.

“Texas! I’m thrilled to fight there and thankful to Top Rank and DAZN for the opportunity to fight on the main card,” said Navarro. “It’s also my first 10-round bout, and I fully intend to give the fans an exciting show and a statement win.”

A multiple-time national amateur champion who compiled a final record of 141-15 before turning pro in November 2022, Moreno scored a third-round knockout of Ira Terry in November 2024, then decisioned Khalid Twaiti and Edwin Tercero in 2025.

“El Trompo” Moreno opened 2026 with an eight-round decision over Francisco Pedroza Portillo in April.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight on a Top Rank stage,” said Moreno. “Steven Navarro is a talented fighter and I respect what he brings to the ring. I’ve known him since the amateurs and we actually fought once in the amateurs, but professional boxing is a completely different story, and I’m going to show it. I’m not coming to be another opponent. I’ve worked too hard and sacrificed too much for this moment. On October 24, I’m coming to make a statement and show everyone the level I’m on compared to these other fighters.”

Also announced, super lightweight contender Frank Martin will face Morocco’s Tarik Zaina in a 10-rounder.

In the 10-round featherweight co-feature, unbeaten Robert Garcia protegee Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzalez takes on Fort Worth native and former two-time world title challenger Edward Vazquez.

‘I don’t think he can beat me in any aspect’: O’Shaquie Foster talks upcoming fight with Emanuel Navarrete

O’Shaquie Foster is extremely confident he’s going to show out in title unification with Emanuel Navarrete.

O’Shaquie Foster joins Fight Hub TV to discuss his Oct. 24 showdown with Emanuel Navarrete with three world titles on the line, and also shares some thoughts on other topics, such as why he believes Shakur Stevenson is avoiding him as much as possible. Read some excerpts of what he had to say with the full video interview available in the link below.

Foster on facing Navarrete
“Four belts [on the line], I’ve got a great champion on the other side so there’s no way they can not give me credit after this fight. I’m ready. I love it.”

On how he assesses Navarrete’s last performance
“I thought he was the same Navarrete but I do think he took care of his body a little more. They said he had a nutritionist and a strength and conditioning coach, so his body looked better. But as far as fighting style and activity, he looked the same.

“Now, Nunez didn’t give us much to offer, much to look back at and he was small,. So it’s kind of hard to judge but I thought he looked definitely a little but sharper and faster than he has in previous fights.”

On Navarrete’s awkward fighting style
“It’s something to look out for, it’s something to be aware of because it’s something that the regular person don’t do in boxing, but also that can be terrible for fighting a well-balanced guy. Some of that stuff don’t work with guys like me. You can’t be jumping with uppercuts from the outside ‘cause you know that’s just bad mechanics. And with guys like Valdez, Nunez, that stuff works…I just think that certain styles you can’t really play like that, but we going to have to see. But I’m definitely looking forward to it coming.

“I’m looking to come in and dominate, and not just on the outside, I’m talking about the whole facet of the fight. I don’t think he’s a better inside fighter than me. I think he throws more punches, or like the guys that he’s faced, he’s looked like a better inside fighter than me, but I don’t think he can beat me in any aspect of the game.

‘I’m not the guys he’s been weight bullying’: O’Shaquie Foster talks Emanuel Navarrete unification

Foster looks to take one step closer to becoming undisputed.

O’Shaquie Foster shares some time for an interview with Ring Magazine where he discusses his upcoming fight against Emanuel Navarrete and still having Shakur Stevenson on his hit list — despite making it clear he’s not specifically chasing a Shakur fight. Read some excerpts from Foster below with the full video interview in the link at the bottom.

Foster on what problems Navarrete could pose for him
“I don’t see none of that giving me problems. I’ve seen that style, I’ve seen the awkward punches. The rangy awkward punches, I’m rangy myself so I just think he get away with — when he stepped up to Suarez, Suarez was a natural 130 pounder…Conceicao was another natural 130 pounder. Berinchyk was 135, and all three of these guys gave him the most problems.

“If you look at Nunez…Nunez fought at 122 or weighed in at 121 just right in 2022…So he’s a naturally small guy. I think Navarrete has done a great job of weight bullying these guys and once he steps up to people his size, we’ve seen a difference.”

On how he plans to fight Navarrete
“If you look at any of my fights, I don’t run from nobody. I control the distance, I control the fight and I put punishment to them. So come fight night we’re going to have to see. I see him saying a lot of stuff, his game plan is to go to my body early and all that stuff — hey, we just going to have to see how it turns out fight night.

“I’m not the guys he’s been weight bullying. He has not see the power or the speed that I possess and he gonna realize that, fight night.”

On who he would choose as his next big fight
“I’m tired of mentioning his name, but Shakur [Stevenson]. Everybody know that if I can fight anybody, that’s who I would put my hands on. But I need to make it known to everybody that I don’t really care, like I’m not chasing dude or none of that but he a big opp on my hit list and that ain’t going to change.”

Foster ready to reign supreme over 'weight bully' Navarrete

There’s no telling how the bout between junior lightweight champions O’Shaquie Foster and Emanuel Navarrete will unfold when they square off Saturday night.

Foster (25-3, 12 KOs), the WBC titleholder, is a slick and cerebral boxer. Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC), the IBF and WBO champ, is a relentless and unorthodox Mexican-style fighter who brings the action from bell to bell.

Either Foster will nullify Navarrete with his defensive wizardry and crafty counterpunching, or "Vaquero" will wage war with his relentless pressure.

Their compelling clash of styles takes center stage at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. DAZN will stream their 12-round, 130-pound title fight internationally as the main event of a Top Rank card (8 p.m. ET; 1 a.m. BST).

The fight features the top two Ring-ranked fighters at 130 pounds – Navarrete is No. 1, Foster is second. The vacant Ring title will also be up for grabs in the high-stakes matchup.

Foster, of Orange, Texas, is promising domination regardless of how the fight develops. He foresees a win stamping his name as one of the sport's best fighters, with additional plaudits on the coveted pound-for-pound list.

“Boxing is not going to war – that’s not boxing to me," Foster told The Ring. “I mean, of course you need to be prepared for war, but boxing is not about that. Boxing is about the sweet science. If you look at any of my fights, I don’t run from anybody. I control the distance. I control the fight, and put punishment on them.

“I don’t see any of [Navarrete’s pressure] giving me problems. I’ve seen that style; the rangy, awkward punches. I’m rangy myself. I just think he gets away with … doing a great job weight bullying these guys. Once he stepped up to people his size, we’ve seen the difference. We’re just gonna have to see how it turns out on fight night.”

Navarrete, a former 122- and 126-pound titleholder, has historically been soft around the middle.

The 31-year-old Mexican doesn’t have protruding muscles, but he does have a penchant for pressure and power, as evidenced by his one-sided beatdown and 11th-round stoppage win last time out in February against former IBF champ Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez.

“I was ringside for that fight, and I thought Navarrete looked just a little bit sharper against Nunez than in past fights,” Foster said. “But Nunez also didn’t give us anything to look for to keep Navarrete at bay. Nunez looked scared to me. Navarrete is a unique fighter, man. [His physique] works to his benefit. I doubt it works for anybody else, but you look at a guy like him and Tyson Fury, you’d be like, ‘Damn.’ But they can get active. He’s just an awkward fighter, but he makes his body work to its best.”

Foster and Navarrete sized each other up during a press conference in August, and the Houston native was unimpressed with what he saw.

“He seemed like a straight dude,” Foster said. “He didn’t really give too much, but he is not a big guy. He seemed to kind of look fat to me, a little chubby, but I noticed that’s a lot of these guys when I first saw them.

“But I’m not one of those guys that he’s been weight-bullying. He has not seen the power or the speed that I possess, and he’s gonna realize that fight night.”

Foster, a career underdog, comes into the clash carrying tremendous confidence after easily outpointing Stephen Fulton in December and beating Raymond Ford in a competitive fight by unanimous decision last time out in May.

After toiling in the middle of the pack for much of his career, Foster’s rise started in February 2023, when he beat Rey Vargas for the vacant WBC 126-pound title. Eight months later, he dramatically stopped Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez in the final round to defend his title in a fight he was abominably losing on the cards.

He scored a split-decision win against Abraham Nova in February 2024, followed by a controversial split-decision defeat by Robson Conceicao five months later. Foster righted the wrong in November with a clearer split-decision victory, before moving on to Fulton and Ford.

Despite cutting it close in previous outings, oddsmakers are feeling Foster’s rise as well. He is listed as a -185 betting favorite, according to DraftKings.

“I appreciate everybody believing in me and everything,” Foster said, “but I still have to go in there and handle my business at the end of the day. The odds can be whatever, but I also still got to perform. I just need to stay focused, stay active, be myself, and then dominate.

“I feel like naturally I’m the better fighter. I’m the sharper fighter. I know my distance well. I feel like inside-outside, I’m the better fighter. I know he said if we bang it out … that’s his best chance, yeah. But I think I’m a better inside fighter as well. I just got to put it all together.”

Navarrete begs for war while Foster plans to silence 'tough guy'

Emanuel Navarrete is confident that he’ll beat O’Shaquie Foster on Saturday night.

However, given Foster’s style, he isn’t confident their fight will be entertaining.

“What I don’t want is an entire night where we’re just jabbing each other and seeing who can jab more,” Navarrete said during Thursday’s press conference. “I don’t think the people should see that fight. I think they want to see a good fight, they want to see a war. They want an attractive fight, a tough fight, maybe even a bloody fight.”

In the main event on DAZN at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Navarrete will attempt to defend his IBF and WBO 130-pound titles, while also trying to bring home Foster’s WBC strap and the vacant Ring title.

Foster, The Ring’s No. 2 junior lightweight, has never been known as an aggressor. Instead, he often outboxes his opponent from the outside. He used that same tactic to beat Raymond Ford by majority decision on May 30 in Houston.

Navarrete, The Ring’s No. 1 junior lightweight, goes about his business differently. His nonstop pressure and punch output helped him stop former champion Eduardo Nunez in the 11th round on February 28.

In that bout, Nunez gave Navarrete exactly what he was looking for. And while he knows Foster will do his best to keep their fight on the outside, he’s hoping that he stands in the middle of the ring and goes to war.

“I will come in here at 100 percent with the desire to defend those titles,” Navarrete said. “It cost me a lot. Those WBO and IBF titles. I’m going to be defending them with blood, sweat and heart, and also with the willingness to deliver a great fight for the people who are coming to see me from very far away.”

The notion that Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is a pure boxer who doesn’t want to get his hands dirty irks him. The 33-year-old from Houston wants Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) to know that he won’t exactly stand and bang with him, but he won’t be running, either.

“It’s the sweet science,” Foster said. “I’m a do what it takes to get the win. I’m coming to dominate. I’m a show him come Saturday, he doing all that talking like he’s just this tough guy, I’m a show him I’m tough, too. He’s gonna feel a lot more than a jab, I promise him that.”

Excellent fight especially the end, I had Foster 116-110, he started off sharp, crisp counter punching, making Navarrete swing and miss and looking crude, Navarrete did find his timing a bit but Foster outboxed him and didn't mind exchanging his way out of trouble , showed his mettle as well as his skills, Navarrete couldn't get his uppercuts off or get to work on the body, he was having his best spell in the championship rounds but Foster had him down twice in thr last, same shot, right hand counter off the ropes, the second one especially hurt Navarrete but Foster was happy to coast after to see it out

I think Cacace beats Nick Ball. I'm a fan of Ball but he seemed to regress after winning the title for some reason.

I've been a fan of Foster since before the Vargas fight. I thought he'd be too slick there & he's been great since.

I genuinely have no idea how good Cacace is. I've heard about his sparring stories & people saying he's a massive puncher but in the ring he's mainly outpointing people. He just had that narrow loss to a decent Martin Ward a decade ago.

I'd have Foster a large favourite in their bout. The winner gets Loma. What a carrot on a stick.
