He was looking really good in his few fights before the loss to Shabez Masoud but, since the move up in weight, he's looking better & better.
At present the Champions are....
WBA: Brandon Figueroa - defending his belt in a couple of weeks against a Japanese fighter coming off a loss to Leo & who lost, TWICE, to Jamie McDonnell over a decade ago.
WBC: Bruce Carrington - Shu Shu defended his belt in July. Nothing else scheduled yet.
IBF: Angelo Leo - Has only fought once since he won the belt two years ago & that was 18 months ago.
WBO: Rafael Espinoza - Hasn't fought since last year & I did hear he was moving up.
I know Bricktop has some sway with the WBO so we'll see if he can get Davies a shot there.
How Far Can Liam Davies Go?
Re: How Far Can Liam Davies Go?
Moving up to featherweight seems like a smart move for Liam, but taking on tall, awkward champions like Rafael Espinoza will be a massive test. Do you think allegedly will push straight for a WBO title shot or look for a fringe contender first to let him adjust to the weight?Taansend wrote: ↑26 Sep 2026, 21:03 He was looking really good in his few fights before the loss to Shabez Masoud but, since the move up in weight, he's looking better & better.

Our guys always struggle with the Mexicans and Super featherweight and below almost always has tough Mexicans stomping around at World level so it will be tough to win and keep a World title I think even tho I think he will be a very good European champion.
