How far can Johnny Fisher go?
How far can Johnny Fisher go?
Evening chaps.
Last night Dad and I were watching Johnny Fisher make his Zuffa Boxing debut on Sky Sports and he was asking me what I thought Fisher's ceiling, and for me I reckon domestic level/European at best as I can't see him beating the likes Fabio Wardley, Moses Itauma, Daniel Dubois, id give him a fair shout against Sol Dacres and David Adeleye but that's about it. What does everyone else think

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
He's somewhere between Southern Area and English level. Could win the English with the right opponent. The likes of Jolley, Dacres, Adeleye, Welch, Kash Ali, Thompson, Harris, Webb, Dykes etc are the sort of guys he could have competitive fights with. He'd probably beat a few of those and lose to a few.
Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
It's possible but I think that Adeleye is wildly overrated by some. It's criminal that he got given the TKV win. His only other relevant win is the flash KO against Dacres. I would definitely favour him over Fisher but I wouldn't be as shocked if Fisher beat him compared to if Fisher beat someone more proven at a higher level.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑27 Sep 2026, 14:32I believe Adeleye would destroy Fisher.IRL25 wrote: ↑27 Sep 2026, 13:45 Evening chaps.

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
There are plenty of British fighters at his level.
Fisher sells tickets, is an exciting fighter, and you could easily make some entertaining fights for the Lonsdale belt.
He might not win them, but it will be a fun watch, money will be made all round, and he might get a British title out of it

Yeah possibly. It would be an entertaining match up to make. I just think Adeleye’s performance against Hrgovic makes him favourite. I’d like to see it tbhjoshj909 wrote: ↑27 Sep 2026, 14:42It's possible but I think that Adeleye is wildly overrated by some. It's criminal that he got given the TKV win. Shades of John L Gardner.

Johnny Johnny Johnny
Where do i start...
last night was the first time he had been properly exposed, against Allen he got exposed you could argue, but Dave, on his day is 2 levels above fisher.
last night reminded me of Allen v Bracomonte, it was like a kebab shop heavyweight clash. Both linited, but i guess thats what made for an entertaining fight.
Johnny.......at his best may be English title level, with perhaps a tilt at the British if he is lucky. He needs to be kept away from the likes of Clarke and Adeleye who would destroy him.
ive a feeling Zuffa might moneyspin him for his next 2 fights against foreigners with reasonable records, a bit like Piritton i guess.
on the domestic scene, he could potentially do ok against TKV, Joyce, White, Welch, Kash Ali, Webb.......He gets flogged by anyone better than that list. I only included White and Joyce because they are now tomato cans,
Its up to his promoter/manager to make him some money in a quick couple of fights, and then look for an English title tilt or one better.

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
English title contender levle is likely his ceiling, but given his backing I could see him getting a weak brittish title at some point.
I think his ceiling in his prime is about Dave Allen levle. Mabey Bit more dangerous offensively but a lot less tough.
I don’t think there are going to be many people you know the name off between 25-35 that you would have fisher favorite against… so really it’s going to be hard to find his true levle cause I can see his future opponents being purely no names, old names or fisher getting stopped (if/when he stops up to any prime names)…

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
I think he's just fodder for another up and comer or big name in need of a win.

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
Fisher will never beat a real heavyweight contender, but he would be a good opponent for an up-and-coming heavyweight like Vanhouter.
Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
He'll go as far as he's gone and no further. This Zuffa deal may propel him to a level he has no right or ability to be at, like Conor Benn, and he will suffer the same outcome.
But as long as it plays out well on social media, who cares about sporting integrity. Bosh!

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
Riakkporh is the current British champ and I think he would beat Fisher and either KO him early or give him a bit of a beating.
I reckon Sol Dacres would win every round and possibly stop him late.
He can win an English title against the right opponent but I can't see the right opponent being in a British title fight.

Fisher would go the same way as Welch.
Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
Assuming BoxRec’s statistics are accurate, Johnny Fisher had only two amateur bouts in 2018. He won both by first-round stoppage against opponents who had never fought before.
He turned professional in 2021 and had fought only 12 times before his first bout with Dave Allen. I felt he was wrongly awarded the win.
Before that bout, he had completed only 22 of the 31 rounds he had competed in for the entire duration of his professional career, averaging just 4 minutes and 34 seconds per fight.
Fisher will be 28 when he next fights (too old to improve significantly), and I do not know of any credible main-event fighter with less experience.
This may be controversial, but I thought Fisher’s performance against Michael Pirotton last weekend was worse than both of his “losses” to Dave Allen a couple of years ago.
I only need a quick glance at BoxRec’s top-20 UK rankings to realise he’d lose to the vast majority of the men listed.
Zuffa will do its utmost to protect Johnny Fisher, matching him against journeymen and badly shot veterans until he eventually loses to the next half-decent opponent he faces. He will then join the list of ex-pros with strong social media followings by signing with Misfits Boxing.

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
A money grab against Dillian Whyte and cash out as he has got a long way and a fair bit of money with very limited ability
Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
16 fights and only really fought 1 English title level boxer, Dave Allen.
No further than this I'm afraid. Needs to make a bit of cash before he's flattened.
A 3rd encounter with Dave would make a few quid. The fight would be interesting too.

Re: How far can Johnny Fisher go?
With tickets sold he must have made a lot of money, moreso with the Zuffa payout

He needed oxygen after the fight which is concerning. Riakporhe would muller him badly.

Lets face it without his following and his dad generating social media clicks Fisher wouldn't be where he is. He's British level contender at best, even then I'm not sure he'd win anything,

Misfits champion?
Fisher might be able to win an English title but I'd be surprised if he sticks around long enough to prove it. He's going to want to milk every penny possible out of this Zuffa contract and will probably have to take a bad beating at some point to do it.

As the great Ernie Fossey would (probably) say, nice kid, can't fight
