Post by elmersalsa »

Who wins this exciting matchup at welterweight? The Ring Magazine Welterweight World Champion, Donald Curry, The Lone Star Cobra of Forth Worth, TX, against the Motor City Cobra, the great WBA World Welterweight Champion, Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns of Detroit, MI? Who wins?

Will Donald avenge the defeat of his brother Bruce?

15 rounds. For the Undisputed Welterweight Championship of the World!

Hearns came within a breath of defeating Sugar Ray Leonard. Curry was no Leonard.

I think that Donald Curry could win this fight. He in his prime was very, very good. Curry hits harder than Sugar Ray Leonard.

What I don't like in this fight is that Thomas Hearns's legs would defraud him. He is susceptible to left hooks. And Donald Curry could throw that left hook. Fast, accurate, powerful.

I think that Curry stops Hearns in 8. He was that great at welterweight. An almost complete boxer and technically sound.

At welterweight, I pick Curry.

At 154lbs and above, I pick The Hitman. His legs were sturdier and stronger at that weight. He was a machine at 154lbs.
