So to summarise:
You don't like politicians who lie.
You don't like politicians who perform u-turns on what they've previously promised.
You don't like politicians who are sexual predators.
You believe that if there's enough evidence and dirt on a politician then that's as good as being guilty.
Glad to see you hold such high standards for which politicians you support and you're not just one of those cultists.

This is why you put your savings into gold, yes it fluctuates but if you bought an ounce of gold 40 years ago it's worth 900% more than when you bought it.

How so? Triple lock being replaced with a double lock isn't going to plunge any pensioners in to poverty.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 04:16Then houses would be bought up by international corporations, and rents would go up further.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 01:59Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑29 Sep 2026, 12:03 Triple lock should go, millions of boomers living in houses mortgage free having 10 holidays a year whilst kids are spending half thier wages on rent on other houses owned by the boomers.![]()

The younger generation barely vote.
It’s their own future they’re not voting on.
I know a lot of youngsters weigh up the parties and their policies and say “‘none of them align with their views”
Well that’s just tough. Surely there is a party that is close to what you want.
I urge younger adults to vote, cuz it’s their future.

Point is, loads of pensioners are extremely well-off, their benefits should be means-tested like anyone else’s. I don’t come from a particularly well off background, but my parents and nearly all of my mate’s parents don’t even need the state pension, they’re mortgage free and saved more than enough in their working lives.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 18:07Yeah let's go after the pensioners getting 12k a year, that's just unaffordable.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 13:13How so? I wouldn’t say it’s penalising them at all, they still have a far far better life than someone relying on the state pension, and often spend a lot of time abroad in one of their holiday homes and are getting additional income from their UK rental property (also both mortgage free).Coco wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 04:58So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56Point is, loads of pensioners are extremely well-off, their benefits should be means-tested like anyone else’s. Why are we giving benefits to people who clearly don’t need them? Should we start giving job seekers allowance to people on £60k salary per year?

Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
It's not going after them if the pension increases with inflation or 2.5%, (whichever is higher) is it? The triple lock was only put in place 16 years ago, and it was always up for debate.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 18:07Yeah let's go after the pensioners getting 12k a year, that's just unaffordable.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 13:13How so? Particularly not 'going after them' if his national care plans come into action. That pledge alone is more than anyone has done for pensioners in as long as I can remember.
Since the triple lock, pensions increases have massively outstripped wage increases.
Don't get me wrong, mate. I'm not really a fan of workers Vs pensioners, but I do think that if the national care proposals work, it'll be an overall benefit to both pensioners and workers.
The boomer generation have benefitted from the pre-Thatcherite era and the pre-austerity era. I think Burnham's plans are the best I've heard to do something that's along radical lines to bridge the gap.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
It's not a benefit, benefits are for folk who have never worked, they have already paid into the systemBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 05:08I wouldn’t say it’s penalising them at all, they still have a far far better life than someone relying on the state pension, and often spend a lot of time abroad in one of their holiday homes and are getting additional income from their UK rental property (also both mortgage free).Coco wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 04:58So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56

Most of us have been paying into the system for 20, 30, even 40 years, yet we should want to have that taken away from us??
And then when we are too expensive, then it's assisted suicide!
