Ring champ Lauren Price returns Nov. 20 in Cardiff

The Ring's welterweight champion Lauren Price will return to action in Cardiff on November 20.

The 32-year-old, who also holds WBA, WBC and IBF 147-pound titles, will put all her belts on the line against Michaela Kotaskova (12-1-2, 4 KOs) at the Welsh capital's Utilita Arena, live on free-to-air BBC Two.

Price (10-0, 2 KOs) beat Stephanie Pineiro Aquino at the same venue in her last outing, when she retained her titles via unanimous decision.

The southpaw, who is The Ring’s No. 7-rated pound-for-pound fighter, hoped to secure an undisputed clash with WBO champion Mikaela Mayer or a lucrative showdown with "The GWOAT" Claressa Shields.

However, with neither of those fights materialising, Price will instead take on Kotaskova, who returns to the UK for the first time since losing on points to Chantelle Cameron at junior- middleweight in April.

Price said: “There’s nothing better than fighting at home in Wales. The atmosphere in Cardiff is always incredible and I can’t wait to walk out in front of my home fans again.

“I’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this position and I’m not giving anything up. Kotaskova is a tough, experienced opponent who has competed at world level, but I believe I’m the best welterweight on the planet and on November 20 I’m going to show it.

"I want to put on a big performance and give everyone in Wales another night to remember.”

Despite that defeat to Cameron in London, Kotaskova, 34, has not lost at welterweight, where she is ranked No. 3 by The Ring.

She said: “I have a lot of respect for Lauren and everything she has achieved, but I am coming to Cardiff to take her titles. “I have already shown that I can compete with the best fighters in the world.

"Welterweight is my natural division, I am undefeated at this weight and I believe this is my moment.

"I know I will be walking into an arena full of Lauren’s fans, but that only gives me more motivation. I am ready to make history on November 20."

Might get a ticket for this, given I skipped Fury - Joshua. No idea who this Kotaskova is tbh. Edwards v McGregor should be a good one tho.

So you have a certain budget on these type of events?

Lower tier, floor seats? Price range etc?

No particular rules, just decide what I feel is worthwhile on a show by show basis. For Fury—AJ. I set myself a limit of £200, and only decent seats I found were nearly £300 so opted out. Could have got £85 but they were nearly at the back of the upper tier, I’ve sat there for football once and could see fvck all, so would be awful for boxing. This show will obviously be a totally different kettle of fish, so will see the prices when it goes on sale.

Lauren Price set for November 20th BBC headliner against Michaela Kotaskova

Lauren Price will squeeze in another title defense before year’s end

BOXXER announced today that unified welterweight champion Lauren Price will defend her titles against Czech challenger Michaela Kotaskova in the main event of a November 20th BBC Two show in Cardiff.

Wales’ Price (10-0, 2 KO) took gold at Tokyo 2020 and boasts significant professional victories over Jessica McCaskill and Natasha Jonas, but major fights have eluded her of late. Attempts at booking an undisputed showdown with Mikaela Mayer fell through, as have long-running attempts to pit her against Claressa Shields.

Hence, the Czech Republic’s Kotaskova (12-1-2, 4 KO). The 34-year-old has spent her career bouncing around Europe, only rarely intersecting with competent opposition; her biggest win came over 48-year-old former titlist Mikaela Lauren in 2024 and her clash with Chantelle Cameron this past April saw her snag a grand total of two cumulative rounds on three scorecards.

Lauren Price said: “There’s nothing better than fighting at home in Wales.

I want to put on a big performance and give everyone in Wales another night to remember.”

Michaela Kotaskova said: “I have a lot of respect for Lauren and everything she has achieved, but I am coming to Cardiff to take her titles.

In more interesting action, Rhys Edwards (17-1-1, 4 KO) takes on Lee McGregor (16-3-1, 11 KO) down at featherweight. Edwards came perilously close to beating Peter McGrail on short notice two years back, comfortably beat spoiler Thomas Essomba, then drew with Gully Powar in an April bid for the British title. McGregor, meanwhile, appears to have hit his ceiling after rough losses to Nathaniel Collins and Michael Gomez Jr.

Lauren Price next fight to come against Michaela Kotaskova on November 20

Lauren Price will defend her welterweight titles against Michaela Kotaskova on November 20 at Utilita Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

Price became Wales’ first female boxing world champion in May 2024, defeating former undisputed champion Jessica McCaskill to claim the WBA welterweight strap. She then added the IBF and WBC belts to her collection with a victory over Natasha Jonas in March 2025.

Wales’ Price will now defend all three titles for the second time after she defeated mandatory challenger Stephanie Piñeiro Aquino back in April.

“There’s nothing better than fighting at home in Wales. The atmosphere in Cardiff is always incredible and I can’t wait to walk out in front of my home fans again,” said Price in a press release issued by Boxxer.

“I’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this position and I’m not giving anything up. Kotaskova is a tough, experienced opponent who has competed at world level, but I believe I’m the best welterweight on the planet and on November 20 I’m going to show it. I want to put on a big performance and give everyone in Wales another night to remember.”

Kotaskova returns to her preferred weight of 147lbs after losing to Chantelle Cameron for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title in April this year.

“I have a lot of respect for Lauren and everything she has achieved, but I am coming to Cardiff to take her titles,” said Kotaskova.

“I have already shown that I can compete with the best fighters in the world. Welterweight is my natural division, I am undefeated at this weight and I believe this is my moment. I know I will be walking into an arena full of Lauren’s fans, but that only gives me more motivation. I am ready to make history on November 20.”

Looked at general sale tickets an hour after the window opened, cheapest available was £100. Ridiculous price, not worth half that.

Website suggested might have been some £60 ones but they were sold out by the time I got on. Doubt there were many, since seems unlikely this is a particularly popular show.

Although I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, the last Lauren Price fight was pretty damn good.
